For ax and hammer shims, I glue up a bar of hardwood and , using my mitre saw, set it at 2 or 3 degrees and flip the bar over and over. From the same bar of wood, I make 4 deg to 7 deg. shims.
Awesome!
I like your style mate. I definitely are going to copy your table saw jig. Thanks for the tip. Greetings from Norway.
simple and cool table saw jig, that chainsaw joke was actually funny but only because i fully thought you were gunna let that chainsaw fling the scrap 90ft in a random direction lol
Great tutorial on cutting shims. Also appreciate the humour - I found it fresh and entertaining; and I now I must look up something current immediately after this post. Lastly, I really think the video production was fantastic. Subscribed.
Thx bud. Helped out.
This is great. Now I can make some hardwood shims rather than use those soft ones from the store! Definitely going to try the table saw jig.
Gracias por el vídeo.. saludos cordiales desde Santa Fe Argentina!
Smart guy, like your safety measures,! Safety first 👍
Use a long board that also wide then easy on the mitre saw.
Going to try the jig idea, but with a router table, I have no table saw. I think dowels can help in that approach, as well as the miter saw. Don't put metal near the blade, if you have options. You miss using a dowel to hold things in place, no harm, no foul. Thanks for the jig idea.
You got me with the chainsaw skit!

What happens if u haven't got all those tools
Well, you just mark out the wedge on the end of a board and instead of using a jigsaw, you do it the old-fashioned way: Hand saw! But seriously, a jigsaw can be had for under £20, and a circular saw for around £30. We are not talking Dewalt or Makita here, just basic, corded DIY tools, but I'm guessing, if you're watching this content, you'll already own some of the tools suggested, or be in the process of putting together a woodworker's or homeowner's toolkit.
Literally the only of the three I have is a jigsaw…… And you didn’t show that part.
same here. lame
at least you acknowledge it, but it's pretty sketch to cut lengthwise on the miter saw like that with relatively narrow stock and only 1 side supported.
or 😏 or 😞 or 😒
how can I make it will long board?
dude ur so funny :D :D :D btw how many ppl told u, u look like richard hendriks from silicon valley? :D
Do it yourself, go to woodprix and learn how to make it.
I dont think you know how sangerious that was! At a minimum use a zero clearance blade insert. I know it is dangerious from personal experience. If the wedge falls between the blade and opening, well, just imagine putting a wedge there.
Well, if it makes you feel any better about not having video of the circular saw, the chainsaw joke was funny. Ha! That is an interesting jig.
Yeh I actually thought I was filming but didn't hit the record button! Thanks!
just curiosity....how did you get that scar on your face?
Yes, you're curious. But, unless you're a friend of the person then it is very rude to ask such a question.
You get your answer and the person with the scar is now (again) self conscious AND has the painful memory of the original incident flash through his mind.
Think about how someone would feel BEFORE asking the question.
@@jeffhagerman2905 OK snowflake.
I prefer to build with Woodglut plans.
00:30 *Bruce Wedgy* - the man with the wooden claws. Ha, ha..
01:59 Just wondering - is this scar across the face from a chain saw duel?
i just when in to a building site and found one
Annoying but good info
Those arent shims. WAY too thick on the taper. They have to taper to nothing so you can break them
Correct, those are wedges
great idea but the vid was hard to watch with all the jumping around. No offense but please slow down to explain. I will sub to see what else you do thank you
I wanna use my chainsaw!!!
