There are grifters in gaming that have risen to high places, and the consequences make things worse for everyone.
I think the main takeaway is this: Sweet baby inc has employees who are involved in maliciously going after and harassing people who don't agree with them and try to bully their way into the industry. Furthermore game journalists have not evolved since the original gamergate in 2014 and will still partake in biased reporting to protect their friends and interests.
It's crazy that anyone was still taking gaming journalism seriously when you had people complaining that the SpongeBob game was too hard.

Even ignoring representation, they/them pronouns in an RPG is actually a pretty cool idea. For the sake of roleplaying, if you wanted to be this masked figure whom no one knows anything about, the npcs could refer to you as they. To me, that sounds sick as hell.

Depends on the setting, modern day yeah that's fine, future nah(because an actual gender transition could be possible), and the past nah.
It also depends if it's even set in our world. I couldn't imagine other dimensions with different creatures or a game like skyrim having pronouns, but I can totally see something like far cry or mass effect having some.
yes, having pronouns in roleplaying sounds nice since you can play as a shapeshifter or an Elf, or hell anything depending on what you like in RPG games like Dungeons and Dragons or Baldur's Gate for example.

While I think HvB was incredibly cringe with the pronouns thing, I still think I can understand where he's coming from (or not. This is just my interpretation.) When these gaming companies do something so miniscule as such like putting pronouns, or like Dead Space remake with the bathrooms or something like having just 2 gay characters standing there doing nothing. It's not that it's there at all, it's they put it in and so absolutely nothing with it. It's the same with movies. Sticking it in for points and hoping to get praised for being "inclusive" with the absolute bare minimum effort put in. It's pathetic and disrespectful I'd say to gay people or anyone on that spectrum whom they're trying so hard(very little) to pander to.
So why bother? If it's not going to have meaning or an impact on the story or the game itself - don't do it. At least with Hogwarts Legacy, they attempted to flesh out Sirona, so that they were more than just trans representation. If it doesn't add anything of importance, leave it out. The offended crowd doesn't spend money on games anyway.

But at the end of the day higher ups, who want to maintain a profit will always have the last say and not the people in the industry who actually care about what they work on.

Decided to try starting a flame-war and then started quote-tweeting very old tweets on my account to roast me, didn't him give him the attention, then tried to summon his follows on me by branding me a racist out of nowhere with zero basis or evidence, started showing up in discord servers that I was in which were completely unrelated to wrestling and started harassing the mods to try get them to ban me, then he started emailing people who he thought were my clients/employers to try get me fired which we then basically laughed at the following morning during a meeting.
This was back in 2017/18, so nice to see that he's grown up...
I'm glad this drama is making people realise how correct Az was and how the actma'm is a spineless coward who will ruin his relationship with Mauler by leaking DMs that don't even make himself look good.

I think the point about the pronoun rant is that these are things inserted into games lately, that has never been a problem before. And that makes it so obvious to people that it was put in the game for *those* people. They have slowly, but surely started inserting their politics into the games.
This is why many of the people who originally made fun of Az have come around, and admitted he was right. Because it's not *really* about the pronouns, that was just a small part of the greater issue.
