    Wow! That is a beautiful electronic/power setup you have! I just purchased the Elements fridge and was very happy to see your video! Mine will spend most of it's life in the back of a step van and will run non-stop. I am located in southern USA (Texas) and the inside temps in my van get extremely hot in the summer months. I hope the fridge can handle the extreme temps! I was extremely glad to see how efficient this unit is! Thanks for such a informative video!

    Just finished my DC 24 hr power consumption test. The guy who did this video is a rocket scientist; all I know is voltage usage. Here's my results:
    Starting battery voltage of a 12v Duracell 90 amp hour lead acid battery: 12.76
    ARB temp setting 27 F. Fridge temp was ambient/55 F when test started, so this test included initial cooldown.
    ARB Battery Monitor mode: High (which means quickest shutoff for too much power draw)
    Fridge contents: empty
    Test setting: inside house, ambient temp approx 55 F for the entire 24 hrs
    Battery voltage after 24 hrs: 12.42 v That's a third of a volt used in 24 hours!
    Notes: Temp setting resulted in top of fridge being about 10 F warmer than bottom. That's what this new fridge has routinely been doing in prior measurements. Refrigerated food needs to be kept at

    Just tested my ARB 50Qt in 68*f using the same meter and it is using a lot less that any of these fridges, gotta love that ARB quality.

    I purchased myself an arb element fridge the other week it’s been running everyday sense I got it running off a 160w solar panel with just a cheap regulator and it hasn’t missed a beat these fridges haven’t got the publicity they need these things are great the thermal efficiency is great as well I had an Engle 80lt I sold that and brought the arb and I’m happy other then less room but I’ll be buying a second arb to put in the Ute I’m very happy but the information is scares i myself will Be doing a review video after this week end away of the arb fridge but so far I’m very impressed

      Thanks for the feedback. It is appreciated. I first got the fridge down to 5C in temperature and then I plugged in the meter, closed the camper up and came back the next day. I was very surprised at the results. I plan next week to run it again to be 100% certain.
      In the real world - as they say - I tend to run the fridge at 2C as I find i can put stuff around the edges that I want to keep really cold (e.g meats) and the other things in the middle that just need to stay cool.
      I almost wasn't going to publish it, but having the second meter allowed me to double check the figures I got. Where I live in Brisbane, the temperature has dropped recently, so I suspect this may have also affected the result. I am going to plug the fridge in again next week and confirm it. ;-)

      Australian Camping and Four Wheel drives yeah I was up in Brisbane about 2 weeks ago I live in central Victoria and it’s been really cold but we have still had a few warm days the fridge performed flawlessly over the week end used hardly any power so far I’m very happy now I can’t wait till summer again to try it out in 40+ degree weather

      We are heading south to the Drifta Camoing event in 2 weeks time. We have had some cool weather up here as well and figure we had better bring some warm clothes!

      Australian Camping and Four Wheel drives warm clothes is an understatement haha we’ve had snow as low as 700meters already and snow back in March bring every warm bit of clothing you have haha and bring a chain saw and plenty or fuel and bar oil haha

    I really like your electric setup of your trailer. Can you break down your trailer, build up?

    This doesn't seem indicative of a normal camping trip for FNQ locals. I'm lucky to get 24 hours out of a 100AH AGM; because it gets opened for beer every 15 mins. Whereas 50% of a 100AH AGM at your indicated usage, should equate to 66.96 hours. My battery is yelling at me 07:30am that it needs a Sun juice top up immediately. *Sigh* We're going to have to do a real test , with a few mates, opening the fridge for beer in our weather conditions to get a true FNQ power consumption rate.. Time to break out the Great Northern (*brewed in the not so great South)..

    I have this fridge and it's awesome.

    Not quite a fair comparison as the outside temperature on average is different. The test needs to be done in the same location and at the same time to be meaningful. Thanks for doing anyway. What's the cost of the fridge and what are the features and quality like?
    Cheers

    • @acafwd
      @acafwd  6 років тому

      Hi Ozyrob2,
      It is going to be impossible to maintain the outside temperature at exactly the same for all fridges. The comparison was done at the same time of year (a couple of days apart) and within the same state. That should provide people with a guide they can use.
      Even among different manufacturers, they test their fridges differently ;-). At the time this test was done, it was quite difficult to access information from ARB on the Elements fridge. The last time I checked the Fridge was around $1699, but you are going to be better off asking arb directly on that one as I know they have sales as well.
      One of the things I like about this fridge is it that it is insulated very well, and the gas strut is great. Whilst you can lock it electronically, we do not use this as it sits in the back of the ute under a roller shutter. The night light is also very useful

    What temperature do you run your elements fridge when your camping. It seems the temp gauge on ours is way off, have to set ours at negative 1 to have the beers cold enough

    • @acafwd
      @acafwd  5 років тому +1

      Yeah. I usually have it around 2 degrees and put the beers near the walls. ;-)

      Hi I just got my new arb element and I set mine at 25 degrees to keep drinks as cold as I would like them.

    I bought arb elements 63qt from an official dealer of Kazakhstan. I put one kilogram of frozen product inside. I set the temperature to -15. It took 36 hours to reach it. Is that normal!? any Chinese version does it in 70 minutes. Shit in a beautiful case or I got a marriage! ?

      @acafwd  6 років тому

      Hi +oldmate. The current RRP of the fridge is $1699. But as always it is better to check as I know they have sales.

    'amp-hours per hour' or 'amp-hours per day' is correct, NOT 'amps / hour' which is a meaningless term in electronics.

    • @acafwd
      @acafwd  5 років тому +1

      A little math will show you the correct way.
      1 Amp Hour / Hour = 1 AMP (The hours cancel out - basic algebra)
      You are essentially taking the numerator (hour) and the denominator (hour) which cancels each other out and leaves you only with the Amps. But current here is a measurement per hour. So when someone says Amp hours they are saying the product draws so many amps per hour e.g. 1 Amp/Hour. This can be an instant figure or an average.
      If someone refers to the number of amps hours drown per day they are saying this is the total number of amps / hour drown over a 24 hour period. It tends to be represented as an average figure. It is worked out by taking the total current draw over the 24 hours and dividing it by 24 hours to get the result as a single hour.
      Batteries as such are rated in Amp Hours (AH) NOT Amp Hours / Hour.

    • @tx2sturgis
      @tx2sturgis 5 років тому +3

      @@acafwd Amp-hours (ah) or kilowatt-hours (kwh) IS a measurement, amps per hour or amps/hour, watts per hour, w/h kw/h) is not. If you want to measure current that way it is expressed in coulombs, which will be a LARGE number. Yes, batteries are measured in amp-hours, or ah, which is NOT amps per hour or amps/hour.
      The 'per' or the slash '/' means 'divided by' in math. (your reference). But you can't divide amps by hours, you can only multiply them. Your figures will completely break down if measured in fractions of an hour. (dividing by less than one) but amp-hour figures will not.
