This was a perfect proof of concept that a Bioshock movie can be done well. It just has to focus on characters other than the silent protagonist. "Bioshock: The Fall of Rapture" would undoubtedly fill seats at theaters. People who played the games would go, and people who just like horror/thriller type movies would also go.
Lennard Church That's what I expect from a movie based upon a "universe" full enough ,. When a movie about bioshock comes out I want to see the illusion and the desillusion of different people living in rapture, How they will react when they will see the first chrosome ,little sister, Big D etc .. I don't want to see what I did in the game in a movie Well This short movie was good ,because He did what I'd expect ,the illusion and dessilusion about Rapture for some people who lived in . Want to see more of that
+Lennard Church I feel like the downfall of many of these suggested game-to-movie adaptions is that they want it to be based around the game protagonist. That doesn't always work. Basing in the world but not necessarily around the main character sometimes works better.
Jaylie Piatt That pretty well paraphrases what I was I summarized as, "It just has to focus on characters other than the silent protagonist," in my first post.
I really liked Arthur. He's exactly the type of man that would have made Rapture a success under better circumstances. You know, agree with it's founding philosophy or not, this really highlights that a lot of otherwise good and innocent people died when the city began to fall apart.
Rapture would make a great setting for a hbo or netflix show. It could about a guy or woman who show up in Rapture hoping for a new life but slowly get pulled into the civil war. Or maybe it could be post war with a guy and his pregnant wife trying to get out of Rapture alive before the baby is born and there can be flashbacks of what their lives were like in Rapture before everything went to hell. I don't care what it's about, I just want a tv series based on Bioshock.
There is an official book that's a prequel to the games called "Rapture," by John Shirley. That has all those elements it's really good and even gives insight about Andrew Ryan's personal life. To summarize it, it's the official story of what bioshock was like before it went to shit and it's really really good. It's on Amazon.
love this short! My head canon is that this guy is Martin Finnegan, the ice sculptor who Cohen assigns you to kill. Charles, so overcome with the grief of the death of his brother, decides to change his name to Martin Finnegan. He then becomes inspired (like the end of this video) and goes to seek work under Sander Cohen... etc.
The guy playing Tippit did an amazing job on his character. I have to give props on the main actors as the brothers during the first time they used plasmids. The grabbing of one another, the scream, and just the simply portrayal of pain isn't exactly an easy thing to pull off with out having some serious "campy" issues the likes of 1970's horror flicks. The camera cutting away/blackout really helped to give the scream a lift too. Well done.
I’ve lost count of how often I’ve watched this. The background work is beautiful, and the acting is convincing- especially for the gent playing “Mr Tippet” (!) I’ve seen many big-budget films that weren’t put together as well as this! Love love love 💗
Bioshock spoiler. As explained in Yi Suchong's Audio Diary, even though they were installed in most parts of the city, the Vita-Chambers were still undergoing trials when Rapture fell into chaos. During these trials, Andrew Ryan was the sole subject to whom they were attuned. Thus, they would only teleport/revive him, or someone with a similar genetic code. This is why only Jack, who is Ryan's illegitimate son, can respawn at these chambers, and not Splicers. After the fatal confrontation between Jack and Andrew Ryan at Rapture Central Control, Ryan doesn't revive because he had intentionally shut off the Vita-Chamber in his office. Ryan's deactivated Vita-chamber can be reactivated by the player.
@@abrahimali7167 and here I am still confused as to how Infinite could have tied into the original series FIFTY YEARS LATER when by the bassed ackwards logic of the game all of the Elizabeths were erased from existence when Booker Dewitt died at the end of the game

The Splicing acting was phenomenal. The cinematography was gorgeous. As a huge, huge BioShock fanatic, this was everything I've wanted in a short film.
I'm glad this appeared in my reccomended feed. This is beautiful, showing both sides of the coin in Rapture. The hope of the past, the despair that would eventually consume it.
Wow... with a single stage, three actors, and some props; you guys have created an unforgettable experience! Emotional, well acted, finely directed, visually stunning, well written, and perfectly paced and organized. I love this film to death, what a fantastic use of this incredible universe, thank you so much for creating this.
Apart from my joking comment before, I love Rapture and the lore behind it and this fan made film is absolutely incredible. When playing through Bioshock 1 and 2 I was fascinated by the average man and what they went through with the plasmid revolution, the prequel book was decent but with films like this it really comes to life.

No matter how many times I watch this... it still sends chills down my spine. The actors are simply amazing, the set life-like, A video game come to life through these people. Wish there was more.
My favorite part of the Bioshock series has always been the storylin; how it touches on so many topics of science, theology, and philosophy while creating a fantastical universe that spawns some very moving character stories. I love this piece of theatre you guys created. I truly appreciate your efforts.
This was so amazing! I wish I had found this sooner. It so perfectly portrays the fear, the contempt, the INSANITY packed within every wall and flooding the very streets of Rapture. It put my eyes upon the Splicers that fill the chamber of this dreadful city, giving me, *US,* a glimpse into the reasoning for there madness. Thank you guys for gifting us with this true art.
Beautiful. The end where he starts working on the clay was emotion packed. I do have a few nit picks. Such as, the characters talk like they're in a Shakespeare play. And "I want to make mountains" sounds kind of weak. Other than that. It works so well that it might as we'll be cannon.
The action takes place during the cold war, i'm not sure that's how Americans used to talk in that era but they definitely didn't talk like they do today. the way they speak doesn't seem to far fetched to me. definitely not Shakespearean either.
The only issue I have is that Arthur sounded like he was in a hollow tunnel when he talked (at least his first few lines did). I hardly noticed a difference with Charles but Arthur's stood out a lot to me. Other then that, I loved this for the sheer time and effort put into this. From simple things like the tools and gradual ruin of the room as years passed to the more noticeable changes like the posters, the window looking outside and the facial mutations.
+Ryan Geoghagan Personally I thought that phrase was perfect! The whole idea of rapture was only man. No gods, just man. Mountains are something only a god could forge, so in saying he wanted to make mountains, he was saying he wanted to be equal to a god.

The only complaint of significance that I have about this is that there should have been a close-up of whatever he'd been making after the credits. Some kind of re-created family memento, a plaque, no need to set up a sequel hook or anything, just something to offer a little closure. Certain elements were lackluster but are easily permissible since this isn't some big-budget project. Very well done overall.
I actually had the complete opposite thought. In my opinion, whatever Charles makes is inconsequential, it is simply his renewed interest in art that sends the message. He has been able to embrace his past and return to doing what he loved, pre-plasmids.
holy eff! the first minute was already amazing!!! i mean, the way they work with the light reflecting in the windows and seamlessly putting rapture it in. its surprisingly great!

I'd be amazed to see how some modern day themes are explored in Rapture's setting, and how certain events like New Year's Day 1959, or Jack Ryan's stampede through the city affect and influence those character's actions and beliefs. Please make more of these!!!
Wow, Fantastic!
Wow, this was just...wow! I admit I was scared about an official BioShock movie because I feared they could screw it up. But you guys just made me see exactly the kind of things I wish in that movie. Great job with the script, special effects, clothing and environment (even more when you think this is fan-made and non profit).
This is just stunning. Looking from the windows on the towers of Rapture, one can only wonder, how many of such human tragedies are taking place behind the lit windows. Great work, people. Thanks.
Who says video Games can’t be art.
What an amazing film, thank you for making it. Rapture was a special place, and to see more of that world is always a joy.
realistic
I am a HUGE fan of the bioshock franchise and I have to say that this is the best fan made movie I have seen to date. Great job I hope you guys make more you've got a subscriber for life.
Okay I see the message this video and video game is trying to give to the viewers don't do drugs people
Still love this and am so impressed with it. Thank you so much for making this and please know I've added a link for this film in my BioShock walkthrough. I hope Ken Levine gets to see this at some point. 10/10
At ten mins in, one of the brothers injects himself with EVE not ADAM which would do nothing. Unsubscribed, flagged, reported and called the cops. 0/10.
The way he looked outside of the Window and the reflection of the Water looked so cool and realistic
Anyone come here from WatchMojo

Actually I believe it was "Videogames that deserve to be made into movies" or something like that :P
I want you guys to know that I actually wept a single tear.
Brilliantly done for a low budget short. You guys should be very proud.
Что за фигня! Русский язык - самый популярный язык на ютубе после английского, а субтитров нет! Для Польши размером с мой участок на Севере есть, а для России нет! Возмутительно!
It's really amazing piece of art. Well done guys! Even somebody like me, who didn't play Bioshock, can still enjoy it greatly. It's clear you have an amazing team on this job - I hope you will be making more together!
