I think if there was ever a Portal movie it would be about GlaDOS and how she flooded the enrichment center with deadly neurotoxin and the movie would feature a band of scientists trying to outrun the gas by going through different chambers and using the portal technology but they all die one by one in different ways. One falls into a goo pit, one by fire, etc. Until one is left. Ratman.

Okay, you're doing a presentation about the benefits of working for Aperture Science versus the downsides of working for Black Mesa, and you open with Black Mesa overpays their staff?
It wasn't about working for Aperture or Black Mesa - the Aperture guy was making an offer of Aperture becoming a contractor, probably for a government or something...
Obviously, presenting high wages as a negative thing about a competing employer is part of the satirical humor that made the Portal series so great to begin with. Cave Johnson (the leader of Aperture Science) was, after all, depicted as narcistic egomaniac, who didn't care much about his company, his employees or his test subjects.
The part where the neurotoxin and the cara mia song came on scared the crap out of me. Because I found myself picturing what it would be like to be poisoned slowly to death whilst listening to that song and it sent chills through me O_O
**SPOILER ALERT** (if you havn't played Portal 1, btw if so you're not a gamer) It became 500% better when you understood that the guy that escaped GLaDOS was the guy that wrote everything on the walls and made an escape route for you! It attaches SO GOOD with the Portal story! :D :D :D
+TheEpicDuck Rattman was also the one who saved Chell numerous times, and helped her be the one to destroy GLaDOS. Honestly, Rattman is basically the protagonist of the story, he was the one who made the story possible to begin with.

Best acting I've seen so far. and pretty much all of them have great cinematography and effects and this one scores high as well. Thanks for making this!
I really like this short film, nay I love it! I truly do, it's extremely good. But there is one thing, one itty bitty thing. At 1:09 Chell shoots a portal at a whiteboard and when she does, it moves. A portal dissapear if the surface gets angled which the whiteboard does. Also why would the whiteboard move in the first place? Now, I'm no engineer but the ASHPD shoots portals made by a minature black hole and creates a quantum tunnel between the two portals. Where does the mass and speed to nudge the whiteboard come from? If anyone can explain this I'm willing to accept that the whiteboard can move but the portal should still dissapear because of the angling of the board.

the bit in '98 is non-canon - The Black Mesa incident happens mere days after the death of everyone in the facility. this happened somewhere between 2001 - 2009
@@thatlowqualityblaziken7005 true, movies based on video games/books/podcasts are usually not as good because producers have to focus so much on being p.c., inclusive and whatnot (which is good, but makes it not true to the original)

You may now actually know this, but the Turret Song is specifically for Chell, telling her to, and I quote "Why don't you walk far away? Yes, far away from Science." Science being capitalized is referring to Aperture Science. If you like to know, the Turret Song is in Latin.
Same here, but betting that GLaDOS will triumph over any AI but how about GLaDOS (Portal) vs. TARDIS (Doctor Who) vs. HAL 9000 (2001) vs. WOPR (War Games) vs. RIPLEY (War Games 2) vs. ARIIA (Eagle Eye). The battle goes on and on....

***** Of course there's bound to be someone with the same birthday me, but may is a very rare birthday. I hardly know anyone born on may, plus it was a happy coincidence that's all.
I love portal more than anyone but there just ins't enough material to keep making videos like this. They/This one is a very well done short film, you can tell a lot of effort was put into this. It's impressive what they were able to accomplish. But these portal short films kinda all just go no where. It's not the film makers fault, these videos are impressive it's just too hard to turn portal into a film, or even a short film, without completely expanding & adding on to the source material.... It's kind of like the super Mario movie paradox.
+Rob “Rob56” 56 That's actually a really good point. I've heard that a lot of video-game-to-movies aren't good because it isn't a game anymore. It removes choice from the player to do what they want. Although, with something like Mirror's Edge, for example, you probably could make a short movie out of it, since it's story is almost entirely explained, in that game. I think another thing, is that we don't know everything about the Portal universe. We know a lot, bits and pieces, but we don't have the full picture, so I agree with you on that point about how we'd have to add to the source material. That usually doesn't go too well, honestly. My point is, is that I agree.
@@Imaproshaman7 we keep forgetting one thing. It might be better to do it from the view of someone other than the main character of the game. The half life short films such as Half Life Haven, Escaping city 17, Beyond Black Mesa (made without a budget) along with a few others do a great job at adapting it without making it feel like a play through of the game. Even some portal movies such as portal no escape, (another I forgot the name of that was a series about working at Aperture), along with a few other films including this could be great examples of game movies done properly.
I just thought of something... something that many people have probably already thought of, but I'll say it anyway; what if the GLaDOS activation/Bring your Daughter to Work Day coincides with the Black Mesa incident?!
UnfortuneLess Priority number one: Lie about the cake. Priority number two: Test the subjects reaction. Result: Test not conclusive, subject seems to realize it is a false statement. More tests required.
Also why in the world would they be on a meeting at "Bring your children to work day". This is basicly some one who didn't look into the story of the game, maybe just briefly. Some things in the order you made GLaDOS say did not make any sense.
How about just admiring what they did? And do you really think, all workers stop working for a day just because of the "Bring your children to work day"?
Its confirmed in the portal universe that GLaDOS was created on "bring your children to work day" which technically makes you, as you said "someone who didnt look into the story of the game, maybe just briefly" xD Also lovin the pyrocynical pp
TheMeatyMiner But, They use the new GLaDOS model, Not the old one. The new one comes after Chell destroy GLaDOS in the first game. So no, I have looked into the script
This is pretty good. I love the opening and the way you guys made this movie. Despite the criticisms of the use of Cara Mia Addio in the neurotoxin scene, I find it pretty evil of GLADOS to be playing that song despite its significance. I've seen at least 5 Portal movies and there are at least 10 different fan movie versions of this game series along with fan tv episode versions. I like all other Portal fans who missed out on the Kickstarter event, can't wait to see your upcoming webseries unlike Portal 3 and/or HalfLife 3 which will if ever come out after at least twenty years since the release. There should be at least a full-length Portal movie/trilogy funded by fans and/or Hollywood at least to flesh out the fine details of the story and characters and maybe tease us with the aftermath of Portal 2. I mean they are making a The Last of Us movie and a lot of upcoming Halo entertainment so why not Portal? But still great job you guys!
The aftermath of Portal 2: Aperture is now devoid of humans and forgotten/forced out of memory by everyone on the planet, Chell is truly free for the first time in her life, and Wheatley is just an artificial semblance of sentience floating meaninglessly in space. YUP, WE CAN MAKE ANOTHER 2-HOUR GAME OUT OF THAT
maidenofthelight Yes, I like the theory of the Turret Opera being a special farewell to Chell, but this scene gives it this sinister overtone . . . if it did not already have a significance, I would love the song choice.

3. something else from daft punk cause interstella was awesome
4.cake
But I have a bad feeling that portal will have something wrong with it just like how monster Hunter movie did
@@thatlowqualityblaziken7005 true, movies based on video games/books/podcasts are usually not as good because producers have to focus so much on being p.c., inclusive and whatnot (which is good, but makes it not true to the original)
YOU GUYS NEED TO MAKE THIS A MOVIE
IT'S SO PERFECT
2013: You need UA-cam.
2014: Dude, go get UA-cam.
2015: Ok now you have UA-cam.
2016: You don’t like it? Ok.
2017: Now you do?
2018: Ehhh... next time.
2019: It’s your lucky day!
You may now actually know this, but the Turret Song is specifically for Chell, telling her to, and I quote "Why don't you walk far away? Yes, far away from Science." Science being capitalized is referring to Aperture Science. If you like to know, the Turret Song is in Latin.
The Turret Song is in Italian.
This is one of the best.....THE BEST!!!! Portal 1 or 2 Short Films of the World!! I love it!
I need this movie to be made. Wish I had the money to fund it.
1:29 She touched the f*cking laser! She should be bleeding!
I really want a Portal 3. There's enough backup story now for a really good plot.
GLaDOS vs TARDIS
I just think its a good idea
Same here, but betting that GLaDOS will triumph over any AI but how about GLaDOS (Portal) vs. TARDIS (Doctor Who) vs. HAL 9000 (2001) vs. WOPR (War Games) vs. RIPLEY (War Games 2) vs. ARIIA (Eagle Eye). The battle goes on and on....
The TARDIS is a living consciousness, I don't think a human-made AI can compete with anything that's from Gallifrey.
Alex Song I have to agree with you.
I don't think a being with a conscience would transport to a suspicious, futuristic laboratory using the TARDIS in the first place.
Alex Gallegos TARDIS Wins, TARDIS is sexy
As good as this is, it still pisses me off that Chell was able to shoot the portal onto that whiteboard.
Dubpixel Makes no sense
i would absolutely love a live action portal movie by these people
That's Ratman, right?
... some scenes later: Yeah, I knew
I would kill to see this as a movie. Something small like a carrot, not a spider they're icky. Eww.
Carl Llama Patrick!! Also, Llamas with hats? You must be the King of the Internet.
Carl Llama You referenced Patrick with your comment, you referenced Jimmy Neutron with your profile name, and you said exactly what the people wanted. Definitely the internet king.
Carl Llama Eww.
Carl, so, how are you enjoying...
the sound of forgiveness?
This is beautiful. Great job. Colin, you too Connor, and the others who made this work of art possible.
SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE
Holy shit, what a coincidence. That's exactly my birthday, same day, same month, same year. 1:57
***** Of course there's bound to be someone with the same birthday me, but may is a very rare birthday. I hardly know anyone born on may, plus it was a happy coincidence that's all.
***** No it's fine, I'm sure he didn't mean it in a rude way. I'm guessing he was just making an observation.
***** I wasn't offended at all, don't worry about it. I could obviously see that you were just making a statement.
*Edit*: Whoops, I'm retarded. Carry on, OP.
ELITERgamersUK GLaDoS lives.
This was a triumph. I'm being so sincere right now.
4:47 DOOR STUCK!!!!! DOOR STUCK!!!!!!!!
For a short period his is AMAZING I’d love to see this be made into a full blown movie, I would totally watch
this is exactly why im scared of the future
ehm, this is actually the past
Frits Lohnen
ehm, paradox conversation.
ehm, ehm.
.. that's not funny.
I just thought of something... something that many people have probably already thought of, but I'll say it anyway; what if the GLaDOS activation/Bring your Daughter to Work Day coincides with the Black Mesa incident?!
And what if, it was all sabotage? Maybe unintentionally catastrophic result of corporate espionage. (I think that was also discussed.)
Her voice of Gladors sounds so good
The test proved useful, data collected. Need more testing. Removing test subject number one from cryo stasis.
Test subject name: C. [REDACTED].
UnfortuneLess
Priority number one: Lie about the cake.
Priority number two: Test the subjects reaction.
Result: Test not conclusive, subject seems to realize it is a false statement.
More tests required.
Nice GLaDOS V2. When using the end of Portal 1 as script.
Carl Johnson Its aperture we're talking about.
Its confirmed in the portal universe that GLaDOS was created on "bring your children to work day" which technically makes you, as you said "someone who didnt look into the story of the game, maybe just briefly" xD
Also lovin the pyrocynical pp
TheMeatyMiner But, They use the new GLaDOS model, Not the old one. The new one comes after Chell destroy GLaDOS in the first game. So no, I have looked into the script
I love the happy music playing while the scientists try to get out and run away then they die
Go to the very beginning, do you see the G-Man standing in the background?
O_O
But still great job you guys!
i agree with you on the cara mia addio thing. its like GLaDOS is singing the scientists to "sleep"
Link Of The South Thanks. More like GLaDOS is singing them to their deaths.
maidenofthelight i was trying to make it sound dark :c
The aftermath of Portal 2: Aperture is now devoid of humans and forgotten/forced out of memory by everyone on the planet, Chell is truly free for the first time in her life, and Wheatley is just an artificial semblance of sentience floating meaninglessly in space. YUP, WE CAN MAKE ANOTHER 2-HOUR GAME OUT OF THAT
maidenofthelight Yes, I like the theory of the Turret Opera being a special farewell to Chell, but this scene gives it this sinister overtone . . . if it did not already have a significance, I would love the song choice.
