i love this one i'll never be able to get one but it is such an unique watch and also has a story about it.. i wonder when is seiko going to do a reissue/ reinterpretation of this one, probably soon but it'll be very expensive most likely.. there was the seiko 5 sports SSA329 that had a similar case and bezel colors that could be modified with a gold sunburst dial but those are also hard to come by since they were phased out.. they were affordable though.. those ribbed nato straps are also good looking and the color matches it well..
I like to keep things as original as possible unless there are issues like (you cant see through the crystal, extremely worn bracelet, anything that would affect the functionality of the watch etc) but maybe I would do something down the road.
So I see how this goes ... one watch for the wife ... one for you ... and a day after she gets her watch choice you get your grail to say ..."see this is what a REALLY GOOD watch looks like" .... 🤦♂️ Congrats on the getting your grail - great story lovely watch - your wearing your Star Trek shirt while doing this review aren't you ...

Have you considered having it restored close to original condition ? I know you like vintage appeal , but , aside from that ?
