I grow mine year round, they are a main staple in my diet. When we are heading into Fall, as I am now, I start slips from my outside garden, and get them going in my greenhouse to feed me all winter long. ❤

I'm grow them hydroponic on my windows just for leaves. It was acidental sprouting of purple sweet potatoes that I decided go grow instead to throw away in the cutting board.

You hv answered all my questions !! Thank you ! One day a sweet potato started to sprout leaves in my kitchen so I just dumped it into a container of soil. And it just grew n grew. But I didn’t know that I could just cut the stems n replant them. And didn’t how to actually prepare the leaves for cooking ! So this so helpful ! Can you give tips when the leaves look abit light green n not so healthy looking ? Thx ❤️

The leaves of the plant are not toxic as such, but the calcium to phosphorous ratio is horrible (depending on growing conditions it can be up to three times the amount of phosphorous to calcium). Not a superfood at all.
