i'd argue the use of rubato isn't to make it feel awkward, but slow and calm. like the music is taking its time, not in a hurry to go anywhere however, the use of 5/4 in Alphys is definitely to give a wonky feel to the song, and it works great

When you started reading the story of the fallen child while playing during Undertale, I almost cried. Your sense of beat and where to play and how perfectly capture the spirit of those pieces and sometimes even add a twist to make them more exciting. Was a HUMONGOUS fan of undertale for a good 2-3 years or so. I was probably one of those "cringey fans" the internet really hated. I often play along with these full ost streams on guitar for practice, mainly sonic 3, undertale, megaman x, and deltarune, and I will NEVER get tired of playing hopes and dreams, save the world, and last goodbye. Such energy. Any musicians, I DO recommend playing along with full game soundtracks that you know pretty well(the songs, not necessarily knowing HOW to play them already) as practice. It's super fun, great practice, I can zone in and do it for hours.
Undertale is one of my favorite games of all time and I think you nailed every song perfectly with the use of all the symbols and the hi-hat. Great job buddy.

Dude Undertale is my favorite game and you gave me an experience with the game I haven’t felt since I first played it. Your musicianship is incredible; your love for the game is obvious. When you started reading the story of the fallen child while playing during Undertale, I almost cried. Your sense of beat and where to play and how perfectly capture the spirit of those pieces and sometimes even add a twist to make them more exciting. I know this was recorded a long time ago so you’re likely not reading the comments, but if by chance you read this, thank you. I haven’t had such genuine fun in a long time, and I really needed this to recapture my passion for this game and this music. Was a HUMONGOUS fan of undertale for a good 2-3 years or so. I was probably one of those "cringey fans" the internet really hated. I often play along with these full ost streams on guitar for practice, mainly sonic 3, undertale, megaman x, and deltarune, and I will NEVER get tired of playing hopes and dreams, save the world, and last goodbye. Such energy.
Any musicians, I DO recommend playing along with full game soundtracks that you know pretty well(the songs, not necessarily knowing HOW to play them already) as practice. It's super fun, great practice, I can zone in and do it for hours.

Mark Miller Geez. That guy's good, but I'm only a beginner in band so my level is limited to Christmas songs such as "Jolly Old St. Nicholas" and other songs like "Dragon Slayer." I don't know if I'll be able to handle two instruments at once. On top of that, I make enough mistakes a day while playing during school on my sax at band practice.
But I have learned to play "His Theme", "Your Best Friend", and "Once Upon A Time" on piano amazingly. And by ear, too.

Ive listened to the soundtrack countless of times, and many, many, remixes, but this, man, is so freaking beautiful.
