Thanks for watching! :-)
1:59 he doesn’t regret it. You’re welcome!
Thanks
Thank you 😂👍🏼
Not all heroes wear capes
disable the soundaktor so you can actually hear real exhaust noise
Of course you don’t regret it....more smiles and giggles every time you plant your right foot now 😂🙌🏽
Hahaha so true!! :D
After reading this comment, i wont bother with the video. Enough said. Ta.
The drone isn't at cruiseing speeds, there's a frequency change in revs at certain rpm that the standard resonater stops, that's what everyone moans about, not me however I got a custom non res non valved cat back system and I love it!!!! Just need a downpipe now!
So you don't have drone noise at any speed/RPM?
This. I have a non-res AWE valved exhaust and no drone, but around 3k rpm it’s borderline horrendous with valves open
as said before, had it done to my FL S3 (same kit from VagSport) and love it! Been putting in 99ron for the last 8 weeks solidly and the cracks and bangs are even better! Keep up the videos!
Thanks Dan!
I’m getting it done in a couple of weeks. Does it matter what make that’s fitted or is it much of a muchness?
Cheers
I just recently put the CTS resonator delete, and I’m very happy with it. I didn’t want a stupid loud aftermarket exhaust on my R but wanted a little more volume and so this worked out perfectly. The thing is, that the volume difference behind the wheel only slightly noticeable, but I got audio/video of me driving with the camera centered over the rear bumper facing out, and the exhaust is significantly louder than it was before and definitely sounds much more aggressive. It’s not overwhelmingly loud, you can definitely hear the exhaust much more outside of the car. I’m stage 1 and have not noticed any perceptible drone when I’m in regular drive mode, but it will definitely hum in sport mode. The DSG farts sound awesome. Very clean.
honestly thank you for this comment. i’m in the same boat and was worried i wouldn’t quite be satisfied but this comment gave me some piece of mind!!
@@i2ayden432 Man, I disabled my exhaust valves and stuck them open. Oooooooooohhhhhhhh lolololol. I now have no plans to replace the exhaust. I’ve got a video of it’s sound on my channel.
@@i2ayden432 And you’re welcome! It’s not a bad mod!
Seen Through Glass vibe from the video, That's a compliment 👌
Thanks George :)
I have the same one in my mk7. Wait till you do about 4/6k miles on it then listen to it. Becomes much more deeper and raspy, way more pops and bangs and imo no need for a full exhaust system. Recently fitted a DTUK pedal box and for some this seems to produce more pops and bangs, just from having a sharper pedal response. Unsure of the 7.5 but if you have individual mode, change the interior sound to eco or OFF if you have a OBD, makes huge improvements to an actual sound from your exhaust 👍
I’m picking mine up next week, can’t wait 😁
Do a comparison between your golf r exhaust and a golf r with an akrapovic exhaust
Great idea! Will try and organise something
Beleive me this sounds much more better than akra titan rear muffler...and cost 1/14 than the oe akra rear muffler....that is useless...go for remus..that gives you HP...or 10000x better sound than akra muffler...
I also have OE usa market mid silencer delete...and it was installed on my brand new 7.5R...also a lot of things i modded...because i pee down the guarantee
Sounds pretty much the same but with the Akrapovich exhaust it sounds a little more sophisticated. Price vs mod, the de-res is much more justified unless you do a lot of motorway driving
@@kokekan75 i will see how to proceed...because my hjs ece downpipe has arrived...finger crossed for that the car will not produce much more noise sound than i expected..😂🙄
@@hampshirephoto I have the akra system from stock if you fancy meeting up? I've permanently opened the valves using OBD11 so it should be interesting. :)
Got the VAGsport res delete fitted in my gti..everything you say is right on the money even the ...YEEEEE HAAAA😂😂
Got it on my GTI Clubsport! Sound videos on my channel! Waiting for installation of Cobra Sport Catback together with this in 2 weeks here! Subscribe to hear the results later mate... 👍
You never should regret such tweaks!
100%!! haha
Yeah obviously it does sound better but if you do have the cash available for a catback (or full) setup then go for it I'd say.
Great vid as always;) Great to see your passion when talking about your R. Sounds great.
Thanks M H! Really appreciate the support :)
That Corsa at the end had you beat lol. Nice car dude!
Haha thanks buddy
You cant realy regret this when subtitle says applause on a exaust sound
Haha!!
The new 2019 WLTP Hatchback R (Not Estates) no longer have this resonator box fitted due to the new particulate filter. Won't know how the car sounds though till it arrives in March though ;)
Interesting, let me know how it sounds!
How does it sound
Had the same done on my kia pro ceed gt, for only £60, sounds epic
I did a resonator delete on my mk7 Gti. On the first day, I was disappointed in almost no change. Then, strangely, it seemed to get louder. I ended up really happy with it.
I did a res delete on my MK7 gti performance it actually made a huge difference ! A lot louder than I was expecting !!
I had the same done to mine, do not regret it one bit. Admittedly I have the 6 speed box, but at 70mph even then it doesn't drone, only when you creep up to 75-ish does it start.
What do u mean by drone?
I got an mk 7 r and im contemplating whether to get a res delete or not.. i love the sound gtis and Rs make with res delete and been in a gti with res delete..didnt feel annoyed by any drone..however reading these comments about 6 speed dsgs having an annoying drone is making me hesitant..is it really that bad? :/
Because of this passion I ordered mine! Miss my GTI a lot which was a 2015.: can’t believe somebody commented “don’t like that noise” ! Well I guess a Nissan micra for you then! Mods look good and tasteful.
Drove a 7 R (with the 6 speed DSG) and the drone is much more pronounced at 70 ish with the res delete. Obviously with the 7 speed update in the 7.5 maybe knocks the revs back. Great video 👍🏼
yes you are right. i just did this to my mk7r 6speed dsg. the drone is pretty bad at 110~115km. specially when uphill under load. i found to cruise at 106km /66mph is a sweet spot
@@bmwm333e92 is that in race mode or eco
Nice comments Luke, having my GTI done tomorrow, like you said , its a cheap MOD ,
Just about to fit mine! Can’t wait
Awesome! Hope you like it
FWIW, even in S mode the flaps aren’t open all the time and they do open in D mode under load. Unless they’re coded to be open all the time of course.
I wish I’d done the res delete on my MK7 R because the sound from that car was very poor. Don’t feel the need with my MK7.5 R because it’s an estate, and therefore the exhaust (with twin back boxes) isn’t valved and sounds very good already.
I know this is old, but I did my 2017 MK7 R with a CTS turbo res delete, everything else is stock, even the valves are coded stock; Theres no drone what so ever. With the trans in Sport and with Race mode on, it gives this nice rasp, in Drive with comfort, it sounds stock.
Drone is a frequency you hear that occures around cruising speeds and its usually low end and kinda drum piercing.
The res delete gives none of that on this car.
Thank you Jay
Had a manual one with de res. Drone was soooo bad. Sound great when floor it but long journeys nope not for me
Into the year with snap, crackle and pop. 👌 #R POWER
The soundaktor sounds a bit naff. You can’t really hear the resonator over the plumbed-in noise in the cabin
Is it illegal to remove resonator in the UK?
No
In my old Mk7 R since it was a 6 speed dsg it droned A LOT, got really tired of it after a few months.
In the 7.5, it's fitted with a 7 speed so the drone isn't as bad
Of course you wont admit to the drone because u r just wanting a louder sound. I've been in a GTI with this mod and there is a noticeable drone. I'd rather do a dp and get a better engine sound then this tin can sound. But yes its cheap to do and makes more 'noise'.
vroomgc probably the drone is very minimal with the 7 speed dsg, on the short geared 6 speed dsg it was insane, even with the oem part I installed.
That may be true .. here's an idea if you want to go cheap and make it noisier. Just drill a hole thru the resonator. Costs nothing and after a while u don't like the sound then just take it off like buddy did here :)
I've got a Res delete on my R-line. Sort of regret it as it runs on 2 cylinders when not applying much throttle so you get a droning burble 😂
I'm very much on the fence weather to buy one or not, I need to find out some more info but great video
The MK7.5 has the 7 speed box which will not drone much but for all the MK7 owners unfortunately it will drone quite a bit (6 speed box).
I’ve been wanting to do it on mine but just with the valves coded open it can get a bit boomy at times 😐
Very good point, I never thought of that!!
is it with opf/gpf?
Possibly the best mod you can do to the Golf R for the cost. Love my res delete!!! Transforms the car and gives it the sound it should have had from factory.
100%!
Does this void the warranty do you know? Or should I say potentially impact it.
Jacob Gregoire It only voids the warranty on the exhaust
So, a resonator delete enhances the dsg farts? I love GTIs but not their farts.. How do I tune my car but avoid this? (no offence, each to their own)
Jaclyn tina wondering the same. I want a slightly louder exhaust but I find the DSG farts cringey
@@DesperationGaming someone help us hahah
Depends have you deactivated the soundaktor?
im intrigued but not sure where to go in my area ....
There was literally absolutely no difference in sound when you revved it in sport. when stationary once you put the car in race or sport you should give the exhaust flaps at least 3 to 4 seconds for them to open because if you immediatly start revving they stay closed. thats why there was absolutely no difference in sound.
Res delete was my first mod, got it 2nd hand. Slippery slope from there 🤣
Haha of course ;) Can't believe how loud your car was!
she is a beast Jay, no VR6 sound though ;)
@@mrdeath69 ha ha Throaty
@@hampshirephoto I found the even louder button, it is really quite silly now 😂
@@FamousAfroJay might get a De-Cat for mine now as its now quiet compared to yours then just need a turbo to stick on???
Sorry you will have to speak louder, i couldn't hear you over the drone!........j/k :D Interesting fact - new 2019 models with the particulate filter, have the resonator deleted from the factory (in an attempt to restore some of the exhaust noise taken away by the restrictive particulate filter)
Haha! -_- Ah interesting, thanks for letting me know
Ay? I have a new Cupra 290 with the ppf fitted and there is a resonator in the exhaust
@@gordonmccartney5648 Don't know about the cupra, but the 2019 Golf R's definitely don't have a resonator.
Where have you read that mate? I should be collecting my 2019 Golf R on monday and if this is true, that is brilliant news, saves me spending £140 😂
why do the euro spec R's get crackles from the factory and the US cars dont?
Did you notice a decrease in miles per gallon and/or power after the resonator was deleted?
Yeah I am in the market to get one I went in to talk to them and the one I want there is non in the UK atm for sale
Try looking on Progressive Parts' website, that's where I got mine from
hampshirephoto yeah I will do cheers
I had mine done not long ago on a 7.5 and find the drone when accelerating a bit much. I’m thinking of changing it to the anti drone pipe
My Golf R which has had a stage 2 remap from APR Tuning doesn’t crackle. It hasn’t had a res delete either. Would that be why?
did you leave on the fake engine noise for the video?
Do you have the maxton real spoiler perhaps ? I’m thinking about buying one for my 7,5 R variant. Love the channel, cheers !
Yes
keep up the good work lad!
Thanks so much buddy!
him: sorry about the window
me: DROPDOWN THAT WINDOW
Hey hi mate lovely review...Im planning to do this mod on troc 1.5 evo tsi ...will it still sound this sporty..and does it affect the fuel efficiency or do i need sumsort of mapping or plug and play device ?
Better sound like a Akapovic?
Is it popping because of a tune or is that stock
how are the paddles? still solid feeling? ive heard some of the 'extensions' for the paddles can be flimsy feeling, assuming not yours since theyre genuine carbon fiber.
Paddles are great! No issues with them so far
I was going to ask the exact same question.
BCS Powervalve Resonator Delete on my dsg mk7 R sounds biblical.
Does it effect your warranty seeing as your car is brand new ??
Only the exhaust warranty
hampshirephoto who needs warranty for an exhaust either way 😂
Thank you
Did you tune the car at all to have more pops and bangs? I have seen other people do this and not get the same results?
Great video Luke!
Glad you enjoyed it guys!
Video starts 0:42 and ends 0:48
great video man
Link for the Deletekit would be nice
Can you hear any spool from the turbo?
Lovely car, seen it around Winchester a few times. Sounds great btw
Thanks Ceri! Haha that's awesome :)
Res deletes only sound good on MK5s
hamphirephoto does tis void warranty on car
Good review specs 🤓
Hey buddy, I see you are round the Hampshire way. I’m Wiltshire and was thinking about doing a resonator delete on the 230 vRS. I know it’s gonna sound anything like this but hopefully it will sound better than stock.... can you recommend any where that can do a delete for me? Cheers!
Have you turned the artificial sound off?
What do you call that sound at the start of the video did that happen because the res was deleted
If you shut off the fake sound using VCDS then you can really test for drone. In my MK6 Golf GTI I thought I was getting a lot of drone after resonator delete. Pulled out the sound pipe which came in 2010’s. No drone. In 2011’s and newer you had that sound actuator which was electronic. Try coding it out and you can hear more of the natural exhaust sound
I would describe the sound as pleasantly loud :)
For sure, it's not quiet and it's not deafening!
@@hampshirephoto yes :)
Can this mod be reversed ?
You better off with a decent cutback system
Does removing the resonator void my warranty?
What spoiler is that? If maxton which one? Thanks.
This is the Maxton MK7 spoiler
@@hampshirephoto thanks. Was looking that one or their new revised on that smoothes the way across. Decisions decisions.
My friend cut is muffler off and got a catless downpipe and I’m trying to convince him to do a resonator delete to.
A resonator delete on such a setup would be like 10x the sound trust me XD totally worth it day and night difference
Do these effect MOT or warranties im thinking of doing it ive an extended warranty
Mate I have listened to this on a new samsung S9 phone at max volume and mid way with headphones and without and there is NO difference in MY Opinion AT all to the normal mode and the Race mode to the sound of the exhaust that you claim?!!! At 2:14 mins in to the video that you refer to?! (I am a sound engineer?!!) What valves are you referring to?!!! The car doesn't have any 😎😂 !!
He's wrong. No valves on these cars
How are you have you had any warranty issues with your delete
It sounds like my 2018 S3 that is stock. No better than myn in dynamic. Only annoying loud in normal/comfort
Currently have a GTI 7.5, will be upgrading in October. Not sure whether or not to get the R or the new Merc AMG A35.
Golf R is boring and A35 extremely expensive and nothing special, looks like a Kia. Your GTI is better than them, genuinely! They tune very well too. Has way more character
Couldn’t agree more, stage 2 that bad boy!
I should've mentioned that this is on lease. The AMG A35 seems to be allot cheaper than the R at the moment.
I will be picking up my new R on Thursday :) - it comes with the 19" pretoria's like yours, how do you find the turning circle? is it as bad as some people have said or is it generally fine when parking etc?
Turning circle bigger than a normal car but nothing extraordinary... I used to have an EP3 Civic Type-R before my Golf R and I used to this, the Golf turning even smaller place than the Type-R used to. This is pretty normal on AWD cars I think.
Congrats! Turning circle is fine for parking, but when doing a U-Turn for example, it isn't great
go drive a ford focus RS and you will never complain about the turning circle of the Golf R.
Turning circle is fine - yes I can't do as sharp a U-turn as I used to but apart from that I've not run into any issues, even swinging right round a small roundabout is fine.....unlike the RS which is hilariously bad : ua-cam.com/video/9rhie8wgxMA/v-deo.htmlm20s
Did putting resonator delete on ever bring up the check engine light?
Sam it id not supposed to.. there isnt any sensors after the cat
What have You done to get those pops? Is ecu map stock?
How much did they charge for the fitting?
Link for your small lip spoiler? Would it fit 2016 S3?
Is there a tune on this car ?
So do you just refit the resonator when you have your MOT?
Mine's a 2018 model so I don't need to have an MOT done for around 2 1/2 years. However, apparently it'll still pass an MOT
Hey James, no need, it does not affect any emissions on the vehicle.
I'm looking to do a delete for my new Tiguan R 2022 235kw, assume similar results? anyone Tig R's had it done?
I did it, it's SUPER FUCKING DRONEY. I have a DP, Not sure he does, but it NEVER sounds like stock... No matter what mode your in. It does bring in a lot of good exhaust sound characters with it though.
Are there any power gains?
Is your soundaktor turned on? First thing I did was turn it off, you can hear the exhaust much more.
I have no idea, how would I turn it off?
@@hampshirephoto - you need an OBD11 then you just turn it off using one of their apps.
Actually there are youtube videos on how to unplug it, pretty easy. Its located just before the front windshield ... ua-cam.com/video/6WOTw_lIoKw/v-deo.html
Don’t you just put engine sound into eco?
where did you get your spoiler extension? Been looking for options, any recommendations? Leaning towards aerofabb
Maxton design
Hi m8. Have a question regarding this modification. What is like passing M.O.T test after that??
Doesn't have an effect on emissions so still passes the same
name of the wheels bro please
affect the mot or nah?
I notice on mine that as the exhaust heats up when driving the dsg farts and pops and bangs become more frequent and are louder.
Ps. You should look at ceramic coating! Best thing i did
Whats your next mod?
I've noticed the same thing! Ceramic coating is being applied soon ;)
Just got mine coated today! I absolutely love it! And I’ve just driven a stage one res delete today so I’m definitely doing that next month 👀
