A remix of 'One Who Craves Souls'. This is perhaps my favourite song from Demon's Souls and because it's so good it was difficult to find a reason to arrange it. Recently I got some new samples though and that really gave me some confidence to try something. I didn't want to veer too far away from the original because it's such a powerful piece.

Jonathan Ashton not really. They're considered two different IPs. That's like saying there's a lore connection between Armored Core and Dark Souls because they both have the moonlight greatsword, or King's Field and Dark Souls both have Seath.

Ray Maelstrom Archdrake they do, but that doesn't create some magical lore bridge between the two games, which is my point entirely. They're their own separate games, separate universes, etc. Same applies to any of the games that are considered separate IPs.

We need a Demon's Souls remake for PS4 with the sixth archestone added on Kreygasm
ExistentialOcto that plus DLC for Bloodborne with the same scale as AOTA and I would buy a PS4 in the blink of an eye.

+ExistentialOcto Id actually just like a proper sequel to Demon's souls. Dark souls makes for a decent spiritual successor, but it isn't a real continuation of that beautiful yet brutal masterpiece.
I never really looked at it that way, and That does makes sense now that I think about it.
This has an "Oath to Order" sort of feel to it.

I think this is, by far, the best remix of any Soulsborne game that Alex has done. As the music starts to pick up at 2:00 I can imagine - and have often imagined - a story where the hero has been beaten, clinging to their last hope, their last ounce of strength. The world around them slows as the weight of failure falls upon them, crushing their spirit moment by moment. Then, in their darkest moment - inspiration strikes. They remember why they fought so hard, and see their allies around them trying so desperately to help, to protect the hero from defeat. Seeing them trying so hard empowers the hero to try once more.
Complimenting 3:50, they rise up and brandish their weapon, renewed and reinvigorated to go on. They only need to fight for a more moments, and with their allies by their side, they're sure to win.
Every single time. It's so goddamn beautiful.
And then they fail, the Old One blankets the world in deep fog, and the world fades into grey obscurity. Then, in the depths below, a spark ignites a flame. Three lord souls, and one dark soul rise to bring disparity to an otherwise homogeneous world. Death and life, evil and good, and of course, dark and light. Thus began the age of fire.
I don't know if you realize this, but, with your work, you make a whole lot of people happy.

@@sawmesalami it makes us happy because they are songs of hope, all the souls games may tackle different issues, but the one universal theme across them all is hope, and hearing the melodic tones of the world gives us hope and inspires us.

Demon's Souls 2, not gonna happen. We've already got a replacement for the Maiden in Black with the Emerald Herald of Dark Souls 2 essentially.

Yeah, and I think Project Beast is going to create a new better world that draws off of mechanics developed in Demon's+Dark Souls, but is not a sequel. The creator himself has said that he doesn't want the Souls series to become a run-on of sequels as so many games become, and even regrets that he wasn't able to work on Dark Souls 2, but wants to be able to work on something new. On the NA side for Demon's Souls 2 Atlus has said they 100% don't intend on making it.
I just sort of view the Emerald Herald as being Dark Souls 2 creators gutting Demon's Souls a bit and taking a character from it. I mean, she has the same dictionary of words essentially.

Perhaps it was the right thing to do. A Demon IS a Demon, in the end. Who am I to say, a child dressed in an old heroes armor, trying to slay a king. But, I only hope that you gain from her something most valuable. The ability to care for others, is one unique too us, and us alone. Cherish it, for someday, you may have someone you hold dear, and some one may come in, and snatch their soul from you, just as you did to her.
I feel so much nostalgia from this song for a game I never played.
This isn't a remix, it's a masterpiece. You take a little inspiration and make it your own. It's amazing ! I cannot stop listening to this song.

I could never get into Demon's Souls as much as I have with Dark Souls for some reason (Possibly because I played the latter first), but I always found the Maiden in Black an interesting character. Both her dialog and personality.
That being said, this an amazing and beautiful remix, and From Soft should endorse your work.
Probably because the stories of the characters in the Dark Souls game were more compelling and all around better, and a variety of stories came together to make it great. Demon's Souls, by comparison, had a better main story. Just my opinion.

"I am not your demon!" I cried raising my sword against the one I once trusted with my life. Then I remembered all the things I've done, all the souls I've taken, a saint begging me for mercy... but it was too late. I had to listen to this song (original) while struggling to contain my tears.
This is more than a game... this is a life experience which I'm afraid no game will ever be again.

Of all the remixes, this one is by far... my favorite. I think this is a masterpiece.
You're music is absolutely inspiring and fits the vast deepness in which the dark souls universe holds, not only that but with each remix of this game that you create, they all hold such a deep nostalgic/majestic feel. I could tell you put much passion and hard work into you're music, and with that I say keep up the good work Alex you're music is freakin awesome.

Couple days ago, I woke up and the first thing that came to my mind was "So the world might be mended". Then I started a new character on Demons Souls and went for the platinum.
I wish the online was more active. I realize that DeS is a little past it's prime, practically everything about it has been explored by fans and basically every build has been made, but still...
We need another "Back to the Nexus" style event.

The in-game story also describes how we as players handled the game.
Where it was once bustling with souls, it is now devoid of life.
The only ones who are left are "hollow" now.
That happened with DkS1 the other day, didn't it? The community still has it in them. Maybe the inevitable announcement of DS3 DLC will bring everyone back to the various Souls subreddits and forums for long enough to gather all ye DeS players for something like that. Hell, it'd be a great opportunity for new players to come to Demon's Souls.

Man, I love Demon's Souls. Come on Sony, at least port the game to the Vita :P I wanna play it EVERYWHERE!! Hearing this music makes me wanna replay Demon's Souls again. Loved the music in it. Maybe more than the music in the other games in the Souls series (not that they have bad music, far from it).

The God Emperor Demon's is beautiful, unconstrained and hidden away in the back while Dark Souls is cookie-cutter perfect for all the masses to see.

I agree with VaatiVidya. I have, at this point, listened to all of your 'remixes' (I am a very hardcore demon's souls fan, and I like dark souls a lot too) and I am blown away. Your work is incredibly profound. You have successfully created new versions that could have easily fit into each and every game you made music after. For instance, you actually created a version of Maiden Astraea that people can simple listen to. The original version of that song only works in game, in my opinion. Very well done, and I wish you the best in your career!
