I have Lilly's half brother, Chisum is his Dad. He was born in Troutville, Virginia in January. He is a wonderful puppy.

@@lucianampachas Do people really buy dogs before they know what to expect from the breed?

I dont understand. English shepherds learn the farmers routine by observing. They do not herd the same way border collies do. And this is throwing her into the deep end without any instruction. It is teaching her bad habits.

It was a test of prey drive. I did not quite expect her to take off like that to be honest. I was grateful her recall was so good. Later I did introduce her to the sheep close up, and she stayed close by and listened to me. I later trained her on commends alone with Nymeria, a year older female. She is now my main herding dog, following the traditional commands. But as you say, they do not heard like a BC. They push! The sheep figure this all out very fast, and when they see the dog they generally put themselves away in the barn. ESs are quite capable of thinking for themselves, and overtime figure out what their job is.!
