Responsibility. Perseverance. Success. Hard work. Community awareness. Teamwork. Goals and rewards. What every school should be teaching the next generation. Good for you.
Kids are our Future Farmers of America!! It's awesome to work together as a family. Your kids get to learn, have physical activity, have fun, and learn respomsibility. Loved your video!
We used to dig in sawdust every year at the family reunion. My relatives would all empty their change in their pockets to throw in the sawdust. There was also wrapped candy in there. It kept the young kids busy for hours sifting through the sawdust holding a paper cup in one hand and sifting for goodies in the other. Depending on age there is all sorts of stuff you can throw in there.
I agree with your way of raising your children. Teaching them how to do things, what it takes to run the farm, responsibility, pride in accomplishments and knowledge and being a valuable partner to the family is preparing them for their adulthood. I hate to see a person of any age that expects everyone else to work but themselves.
My two year old loves helping. I agree it takes way longer to plant some corn seeds cause she is throwing it everywhere but she loves helping and it makes me happy seeing her help. She always comes up and says, "I try. I try". Love it
I think it’s great to involve the whole family. We have five children and we are just embarking on our homesteading journey. Thank you for sharing your day with us ✨🦋
I'm high fiving you! ✋ kids today lack a lot of things now days. So the more that kids get hands on and you're right work hard and have something to be proud of.
I have my grandkids to help me. They were very proud of harvesting snow peas. They helped me plant them in early March. Nothing wrong with being proud of your accomplishments
Awesome job!! That is how teaching your children should be done!! Lord knows if there was more farm work there would be less crime!! I know when my head hits the pillow I am out like a light!!
I used to set up craft stations while we were landscaping, box construction craft, cornflour goo.....my kids frequently tell me how much they loved it. Good job guys, amazing👍👍 & yes, you only ever get 1/3 done !!!!
Teaching skills, responsibility, sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, exercise, reward, group effort, family unity, education and increasing language skills...all awesome!
And to the kids working I LOVE IT! I grew up doing that, but others often comment on my work ethic in a very positive manner. I always give credit to my parents who are still hardworking as ever.
Amen a thousand times over! Isaac has now started mowing half the front yard. He actually does a really great job with it. Then I will pull him in on random chores. Yes it is slower, but it’s worth while.
I think having your children help around the homestead is key. My children learned so many skills and life lessons. We have three grown children the youngest 42 and they are all successful in their lives. When they look back they are thankful to us for teaching them life skills. Keep on doing what your doing...you too will have successful children in their grown life.
Your teaching your kids to learn by doing so valuable !!! Such a awsome family and they will thank you later keep them off the phones and internet it's a waste of life!
Awww The kids are so sweet!😁❤ Love seeing familys work hard together. 😊❤❤ A family is a team and when every player works and pulls his/her weight the whole team reaps the benefits. 😁😁😁
so adorable! You obviously have reasonable expectations, it's done as a family unit, and if you can work lessons into it, i.e. eggs don't grow at the grocery store, basic physics/ leverage/balancing a wheel barrow, ....lol Obviously the kids are happy, tired, and best of all WILL PROBABLY GO TO BED EARLY!! yippie!
Fantastic parenting guys! I’m so impressed that you apply learning to daily work. It makes learning make sense and they will inevitably retain it more readily as they apply it day to day. What a wonderful family and lifestyle!
Love this video...your comments about homeschooling your kids using ‘real-life’ situations whenever possible and incorporating math, history, etc in all that you do is exactly what I say all of the time! Love being a homeschooling mama homesteader 💕
It is so good to see that you two are bringing the children up right! These are skills that will follow them all through their lives. How sweet they are! Great video! Bee blessed Danny and Rita in TN on Rooster Ridge
Always a joy to see your kids! And anybody giving this a negative comment because of feeling its bad for the kids is most likely a born in a city. Any child born on or near a farm, know this is the healthiest way to bring up kids! Not everybody is as fortunate to to bring up the kids that way. But definitely a healthy family live stile coming out out of Gods cosmopolitan of live!
Your vlogs are so relaxing to watch. The scenery and background music are a perfect backdrop for your beautiful family. Love to see the animals. Keep up the hard work! ❤️
A good ole fashioned family work day. I think the biggest benefit from that when they are little, besides them learning, is the memories you are making. I love the steel buildings and metal shelving. Would you prefer a metal barn or a wooden one? That John Deere tractor is AWESOME!!!
I love this! Kids these days don't know the value of a hard days work. My daughter is 7, when she is misbehaving I say to her "you better readjust your attitude [or behavior, etc] or you can't help me feed/water the animals and scoop poop out of the horses paddocks." And wouldn't you know it, her behavior changes instantly. It's not "you're going to lose the iPad, or have less time watching TV" that does the trick, it's farm chores! That 60 minutes a day we spend working together to get a task accomplished is the highlight of my day.
I grew up on a farm with an abusive mother. I had to work way too hard, much harder than my 16 month younger brother ( and my name doesn't reflect my sex, I'm a woman now in my 60's who has worked all my life in fields dominated by men), who was mom's favourite and did everything he could to avoid hard work. But I learned good work ethics and I took personal pride in how I cared for animals I was responsible for. To this day, I don't feed myself until I have set my dog's dinner in front of her, even if I am a guest at a Thanksgiving dinner! And as my service dog, she goes everywhere with me, even into restaurants - her personal favourite! (She always gets a tidbit or two from my plate on the bottom of her dish of the best dog food I can find for her). You are laying in the foundation that your children will stand upon for the rest of their lives, and you do it with kindness. Don't change.
Wonderful video! Thank you 😊 I've got two one year olds and they're in a tricky phase, not yet walking, but not not happy to be confined. I find safe places for them to explore in the yard, hang out with the chickens, go for walks in the pram. It's hard to get anything done, but they love it. I cram as much work in as I can while they are napping.
Congrats on your family. I don't have small kids but I do have granddaughters. My oldest love to helps me in my balcony garden. She is 8 years old. I have put her in some of my video with my daughter's consent. Since I'm disabled, I can only do balcony garden but I have lots of plants from sour sop to tomatoes. Hopefully soon I will be fixing my raised bed. It was hit last year when hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico. Lots of blessings. Loved and Subbed
What is the size of the garage. I am in the process of planning to build one. (clearing trees and stumps right now), and the size of that one looks perfect for what I want to do. Love the new place guys!
Hi, just found your channel. Love the video. I have twin 8 yr old boys, trying to get out of the city and back to basics. Love what you are doing. Eductaion system is so flawed and political. This is all natural and creates minds to be able to do critical thinking and expanding they're thought process.
I love it my boys help me with are chickens and are potbelly pig and in the future we would love to have a bigger homestead they just enjoyed it as much as we do
yes! A kid's life is more than driving them from one game to another; they will be tired too at the end of the day, but what a different tired! Well, this is from the old lady who will work in her garden 'til the sun goes down rather than shopping or meeting for lunch, or what ever else women my age usually do LOL
Loved this video so much! Thankyou :) the corn is a great idea. We have a 2yo and 4yo ...and homesteading can be a challenge haha. So watching this has given us some awesome inspiration. Thanks guys, look forward to seeing your next video 👍🏻
You may have seen my comment over at Justin Rhodes channel about home schooling... here's another article referencing the home schooled kids who got accepted at Harvard. Homeschoolers Are at Home at Harvard www.thecrimson.com/article/1989/3/16/homeschoolers-are-at-home-at-harvard/ "Reed and his brothers, J. Drew Colfax '90 and Grant N. Colfax '87, are among the approximately 500,000 students who are taught at home by their parents" - open doors are wide open for students with such diverse experiences & aptitudes. Good on you for offering your children more than the usual student gets out of life.
what are the chances?! I edited a homesteading with kids collab open invite yesterday and its set to upload here in a few minutes. #askHOMESTEADY would you mind if I add it to the playlist? That was a great video, so much good advice. I especially liked from 12:16 and on to the end. even my six year old loved it. We had been watching DirtyJobs lately and that inspires them to want to do some 'dirty' jobs around here too, lol. I really had been planning this playlist for months and have the footage to edit mine really soon. I'm so glad that you made this video because I've struggled with HOW to get work done with kids. thanks
Sending kids out into the work force after they sit in a chair 8 hours a day for 12 years with no practical skills (unless you have a desk job) is not the move. Teaching them the way you guys do, by using practical applications and instilling work ethic (which is 99% of learning any skill or trade) is going to make them into fantastic adults. I’m not saying we should go back to 1800s child education is the move, but combining largely unnecessary (but good to have) modern schooling with things you’ll actually need in life is really needed and largely doesn’t happen. A home ec or personal financial course here or there are not nearly enough. I know my high school only had sewing and cooking. Both great, but taught me basically how to follow a recipe or make clothes following stencils. Neither actually taught you HOW to get to a recipe or stencils on your own.
Teaching children to work uses the same philosophy as "You give a poor man a fish and you feed him for a day. You teach him to fish and you give him an occupation that will feed him for a lifetime." A good work ethic is an essential skill set a parent should give to a child.
I see fox tail in your hay. Do NOT feed that to goats or horses. Don’t throw the fox tail on the ground it can get in the cat and dogs feet. Hefty vet bill.
LOL, if you want labor it's cheaper to pay someone...in dollars and time...but have at it, if you want kids to have slave labor...give that a running try...wear a helmet for when you fall on your face though.
Responsibility. Perseverance. Success. Hard work. Community awareness. Teamwork. Goals and rewards. What every school should be teaching the next generation. Good for you.
Just ignore the ignorant comments, you are raising them right. :) They are sweet kids.

Trixie Belton wow.... that idea is GOLD
Homesteady you can put the sawdust or whatever medium you are using, on a tarp then when done, wrap it up to use again later.
@@trixiebelton4604 or dump it in under the chickens! I wouldn't put it under the goats just in case they missed anything!
I agree with your way of raising your children. Nothing wrong with kids doing a little work. Your kids do it everyday. It will make them a better person for sure!
Don't forget how it is a great boast to their confidence and self esteem.
I'm high fiving you! ✋ kids today lack a lot of things now days. So the more that kids get hands on and you're right work hard and have something to be proud of.
Dropping the popsicle after saying "messes" was like a classic mic drop.
I have my grandkids to help me. They were very proud of harvesting snow peas. They helped me plant them in early March. Nothing wrong with being proud of your accomplishments

Teaching your children hard work ethic is a big pay off for them in the future! Keep up the great work!
Think it's wonderful that the kids are learning responsibility at a young age as well! Well done parents !
A unique set of "BLESSINGS".....
Teaching skills, responsibility, sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, exercise, reward, group effort, family unity, education and increasing language skills...all awesome!
You are helping them learn, a great work ethic and building a better family bond.
A family that works together, laughs together, cries together, dies more than survive they thrive! Great vid! Thank you.
And to the kids working I LOVE IT! I grew up doing that, but others often comment on my work ethic in a very positive manner. I always give credit to my parents who are still hardworking as ever.
I really love the new style. even you look happier when you are working with your lovely wife and kids
You seem to be doing a great job teaching your children skills something a lot of kids never get any more and I salute you both for that.
Great kids you two have! My folks taught us a lot when we were young. Carried that on with my kids. And now teaching the grandkids.
They are called blessings.
Never saves time, but good hometraining is priceless.
Great job. Good for kids to learn in the life. Good for kids to do good hard work !!!!
Good job raising your children, Kay and Austin. I had the privilege of doing the same with my children and now again with my grandchildren. 💖💖💖
Amen a thousand times over! Isaac has now started mowing half the front yard. He actually does a really great job with it. Then I will pull him in on random chores. Yes it is slower, but it’s worth while.
its a teaching experience. Kudos to you two for being patient and teaching them important life skills!!

Good for you and great for them!!! Keep it up! You guys are an inspiration to young couples everywhere who dream of living like this! Thank you!
It is the best education in so many ways Im not a fan of public school I home schooled my autistic son and he passed his GED with flying colors
What a wonderful way to raise your kids. They are learning so much about life.

Love that you are taking the time to allow your children to learn to work. Good for you!!

You guys are doing wonderful raising your kids right!
it doesnt matter what you do or how fast jobs get done its the time spent with them.. you guys are doing a good job
LOVE TO SEE FAMILY WORK TOGETHER. TOO MANY PARENTS DON'T EVEN PAY ATTENTION TO THEIR KIDS.
i like what you have done and alot of kids would love that i wish i had that growing up

Sometimes it's easier to do it myself, but Iam going to try a little harder to involve my kids.

OMGosh!!!!! Love'N your shirt!
Love this!
Good ideas. I'm glad you also threw in the "iPad" thing. Sometimes it's ok to not have the kids help on certain things 😉😅
At some point the kids will not cost you time anymore and then all of a sudden they will be contributing.
True, but they always cost you money and emotional energy, so it's still a net loss ;)
(signed, childfree by choice!)
tyrroo Oh but the emotional energy they GIVE is priceless!
I use to say baby jail too When the kids where young!
I was Wondering why you do not put hay in the hay mow. It looks like the barn has one and would free up space.

How do you like the Ferris Zero-Turn with the suspension ? Is there a big enough difference to warrant the price ? Thank you and a thumbs up always !
Great video! And kudos on the home-schooling...so much crap going on in government schools nowadays.👏
Teaching kids history and a work ethic. Is this even legal? Lol. Love this!
PARABÉNS !!

What about the Happy Baby®?
Millionaire homestead that should be the name of your channel.
Good work first btw
You guys are good parents. Maybe you need more kids😉😉
Does goompy love having those babies around?!
The 2 oldest look like Mom,the 2 youngest like Dad.

Better than having them sit in front of TV or on the phone or Playing stupid games Wasting their mind energy.
They have to learn how to work otherwise they need to work when they get a paying job.
K - red lipstick is very feminine and pretty
