What I find interesting is the idea that while Paimon is guiding Aether, the time of day is dawn, but while Lumine is guided by Dain, the time of day is nightfall.
Someone mentioned in the live stream, Lumine's 'light' is the same through out the whole video while Aether is the only one getting new elemental powers in every new region. Nice detail there.
Because Lumine here is the Abyss Princess. Aether as the Abyss Prince would also have just a white light. It's bec Aether is used in the marketing as the Traveler
@@SpikeTheWolf White means Light, and in Genshin, that Light can be broken down into the 7 elements. So she probably kept some of her original abilities (but probably not the wings)
I *LOVE* how Aether’s path is shown as overall much brighter: He waked up, in the darker place, yet at the end, he is travelling with Paimon towards the rising sun, while Lumine wakes up in a brighter setting, yet ends up walking alongside Dainsleif into the nightfall. Aether set out on the journey with hope of finding Lumine. During this journey, he is getting more and more hints that he can not only find her, but that she is actually still alive (even in spite of that 500 years of time distance between their awakenings). Imagine now, how it must’ve looked from Lumine’s perspective: She might’ve woken up a bit more hopeful, having known the location of her brother’s imprisonment, but grew more and more desperate trying out and seeking all of the different ways of freeing him - all futile. Eventually, (after 500 years of trying) when she finally finds a way to free him in that godless, underground kingdom of Khaenri’ah, all her hopes are crushed once again, as it gets struck with Genshins *even more literal* equivalent _Rods of God_ superweapon, forcing her to flee & watch *everything* collapsing all around her, threatening her to get buried in a rock, just as we were… Aether’s road is paved with increasingly ever so brighter beacons of hope, while that of Lumine is more akin to an ever so crushing treadmill of despair. This entire thing operates on such sublime, hermetic symbolism, it’s really hard not to enjoy it once the connections are made 💜
sorry if i'm wrong but aether and lumine both arrive a little over 500 years ago, lumine wakes up and in theory she knows where aether is but he doesn't wake up, lumine lives in khaenriah for a while, there comes a time where the disaster of 500 years ago occurs, at that moment lumine manages to awaken aether to leave teyvat and that is when the heavenly principles just imprison them both. lumine somehow breaks free, begins her journey with dainsleif through teyvat and comes to the conclusion of allying herself with the abyss due to circumstances like caribert's. as far as is known, lumine's journey is past the events of khaenriah and in some cases like the Paríh and aranara, solving the disasters that were the consequences. It's interesting the theory that Lumine traveled through Teyvat looking for a way to wake you up or free, but that has to be very close to the events of the game possibly after Dainsleif and Lumine separated.
It's incredible how well Genshin makes you feel that the twins will never _truly_ be happy until they reunite; they can still find joy in other places, but they'll always feel like something's missing.
And literally lots of Genshin players just like waifus/husbandos and wanna marry them while they just don't focus on the main lore and their siblings. :/
I’m sure lore-wise they’ve been together since birth and have stayed together for thousands of years so being apart is very difficult for them. At least Aether has Paimon😭😭
I mean, I dont think it is that weird. After all they had Kobayashi Mika, who people might know from some Sawano songs as the vocals, for HI3's Honkai World Diva. nano also delivered a genshin song for one of the Hoyofairs. It's definitely not out there. I agree though, the way Aimer delivered this was amazing. Just curious if that song will play in game as well, I hope it does.
I LOVE that Mihoyo sticks to their original storyline and shows that the twins miss each other very much and the cinematic combined with the music not only shows how they are feeling, but also helps the players sympathize their longing to meet again.
heart hurts bc there's such a major difference between Dain's relationship with Lumine vs Paimon's relationship with Aether. both Dain and Lumine are going through so much, they don't even comfort each other the way we always see Aether and Paimon do 😭
It's sad to see dain and lumine always standing with metres of distance between them, but in every scene with paimon and aether they're always right next to each other. my heart goes out to lumine, she looks do lonely
Thank you for that detail ! You're right. Both of them traveled in a time right after a tragedy happened to them. While Aether(in the timeline you chose him) was able to get the confirmation Lumine is well(questionably.) and alive after only a year, we don't know how long Lumine had to travel without any news from her brother !! He could be lost ! He could be dead !! That's so sad. She's so tragic, we don't get enough content about them !
Since when does Paimon comfort Aether. She just complains about food and money, and the few times she shows genuine care it's exclusively through a selfish view of leaving _her_ alone instead of actually Aether being in danger or hurt.
@@Cr3zantyou’re just wrong lol. You’re massively trying to mischaracterize her because you have selective memory. Paimon shows genuine sentiments for the traveler literally all the time. Every time the traveler is in danger, paimon is genuinely concerned. We have many examples through each nation of the traveler fighting a bigger threat and paimon showing concern for us. She’s been by our side when we’ve fought harbingers and even archons and she’s always been genuine with the traveler
@@Cr3zant You should rewatch some cutscenes. Paimon is worried about Traveler during his fight against Childe. She's also worried about Traveler when they face the Raiden Shogun (both during the first fight where we help Thoma and the second fight) as well as multiple times during the Sumeru and the Fontaine Archon quests. She even speaks about settling down with the traveler once they end their journey on multiple occassions. I understand ypur personal distaste of Paimon but doesn't mean that she doesn't care about Traveler.
Now, it makes sense why both of the siblings can be the canon MC. It all depends on which companion they go with and the amount of burden they have to go through, not to mention any hope of seeing your sibling for 500 years. One companion has lost all of their people and is a straightforward person versus a best friend who's always there to cheer you up and try everything they can to help you.
I have an identical twin, and she plays as Lumine while I play as Aether. I remember her urging me to play cloud retainer's story quest, and when I finally got around to it the ending made me bawl like a baby. She laughed at me and told me she did the same when she first played it too. I really like genshin because Aether and Lumine don't feel like stereotypical twins in other media. They're well written and I feel I can always relate to them.
yk this fits the story of like genshin because canonically lumine woke up before aether and did the story of genshin tehnically before him. so the line "i cried too when i first played it" really plays into this.
The parallel of showing both the twins in the same places, but things are slightly different due to the passage of time is so sad and beautiful. In the forest you can see the trees have grown significantly, and in the ruins an old tree has fallen down and some of the bushes have died. Such gorgeous attention to detail.
@@SpikeTheWolf Lumine's/Abyss Sibling's travel with Dainsleif was done 500 years ago, not long after the Cataclysm, while Aether/Traveler Sibling's travel takes time in the present days of Genshin's story.
This makes me think that instead of Traveler being in some sort of coma for 500 years, they actually were straight up sent to different points in time.
That is very likely, because the Abyss twin says, they already walked through the journey the Traveler is on. They also say, time doesn't matter. The timeline (The Abyss twin wandering around and becoming the Abyss leader, the other outlander who helped the Aranaras before us and looked like us...) makes sense only if there is some time travel is involved. And there is a book about a time traveler who goes back and forth in time. It would make sense if there are samsara cycles, too... And there is the issue of Dain who it seems was in enconomiya but was in Khaenre'ah...
This made me remember why I decided to play Genshin. It's not because of the characters or the graphics, but their stories. I remember wanting to understand more about the spoilers I had read, and so, because of that curiosity, I decided to play the game. And until now I'm still in love with it. Also, the reason why I prioritize playing story quest among other quest.
"People actually liked Genshin horrid story-telling?" Ik the story can be a bit cliche at times, but the way the game drives you connect with the playable characters or even the NPCs is something else, man..
I feel like this video is also showing how important Paimon is to the Traveler‘s psyche. Her cheerful and curious character is what keeps the Traveler from falling into despair and having an optimistic outlook on the journey ahead. Meanwhile Dain‘s more serious demeanor has kept the sibling to be more focused towards the end goal, at the price of enjoying the journey
THIS. the traveler has had his moments where it felt like he was done with everything and just lost (perhaps even depressed) but paimon was always there while being paimon and it definitely helped him/her in a lot of ways
Also i loved not only the parallels between Aether and lumine but also the importance between Paimon and Dain. They are their biggest supports in the journey.
I am scared cause just like Dain betrayed the other sibling paimon will do so to with us, or maybe we may turn against paimon just like Dain and lumine :(
@@Youwanttoknow777 why comparing them? because it's the difference in their support of traveler and abyss twin that led them to their paths. +other factors like traveler knowing they will meet again while twin was going alone, and the mental trauma of the twin coming out right after the cataclysm, but we're talking about dain and paimon.

@@karl4893 No Lumine’s power was sealed as well but she already travelled Teyvat and managed to regain her power. She started her from khaenri'ah unlike us who started in Mondstadt. So we are seeing Dain and Lumine traveled together again after khaenri'ah fell.
I love the visual confirmation that Lumine really did have moments of missing Aether and trying to return to him on her journey through Teyvat, even though we may not understand her methods of getting back to him
Yeah I think it was a combination of seeing the horrors of the cataclysm and whatever she learned from her journey through the world that finally broke her and made her lose all hope 😭
love how at 1:59 when lumine walks in aethers reflection it shows that lumine stopped but aether kept on going. such a cool detail 😭 i wonder what her journey was like
To me it symbolizes her giving up on finding Aether, after having no way at all of finding out if he was even still alive. It looked like she was already losing all hope when we saw her standing in front of the small shrine, especially as there’s no Paimon to encourage her. After this, we see her encounter Caribert and likely resolve herself to overthrow Celestia.
She didn't know where Aether was until his journey started. After they both were sealed by the unknown God Lumine woke up far before Aether and then spent her time looking for him then after encounters with the abyss she decided to keep acting as the princess. and ykw how in the story teaser "we will be reunited" it shows her running to look for Aether when the abyss mage spoke of him and she was happy because finally she found him.

To this point, the only thing we've faced were dvalin, who was poisoned by durin, their lost machinery wich they have no control over, or their agents mostly just doing their thing in piece before we attack. They're agressive towards us because we were taught to attack them. Their main objective seems to be to give order back to the original masters of the world by dethroning the heavenly principles, the ones responsible for: the fall of dragonspine, the destruction of the chasm civilization, the death of nature in half of sumeru, the fall of the three main deities of sumeru who THEY put in charge, most of the fall of the seelies, the destruction of khaenri'ah, aka the abyss order's original home, wich then resulted in the curse of immortality, wich is perfectly reflected in the newest fontaine world quest about the remurians only being free from their torture once they were able to rest in piece Even the archons seem to be against the heavenly principles. Venti always hated Celestia, and his connection with the time goddess was cut because of them. Zhongli wished to go undercover from them and to live a peaceful life, and he has clearly not told us about everything he knows regarding them. Raiden despises them for resulting in the great calamity, as well as defying their decision to put her on the throne. Nahida knows about the truth of the world, and about the big play they set up to control the world. Neuvillette... do I even need to say anything? And idk about murata, but clearly the tsaritsa is also plotting against them, by collecting the gnosi, wich we know are parts of someone who was previously capable of surpassing their ruling, the third descender. Even the other non-archon gods, like the moon sisters. The fall of the eclipsed moon and the blood moon were both due to the heavenly principles. The welkin moon is depressed because of them. The dragons were reduced to serpents in the sand by their own power, usurped. The dragon king is nowhere to be seen. They are the main threat to everyone in teyvat. They've been that way for ages. They treat the world as if it was an experimental terrarium. They are gods playing GODS, and deserve to go down

the animation is so serene and magical, i almost forgot dainsleif said we will be meeting our sibling FACE TO FACE IN GAME (spoilers)!! edit: we did meet our sibling face to face but the memory is erased... HOYO WHYY
Lumine and Dainsleif's journey appears incredibly focused. Unlike Aether and Paimon, Lumine and Dainsleif do not appear to have a close relationship and do not take much, if any, time for leisure throughout their travels. It is a bit of a meme in the community that we are taking "way too long" getting involved in random affairs throughout each nation instead of focusing on finding our sibling, but this was the intention of the developers all along! Let me cook. At some point, Lumine develops hatred for Dainsleif and directly blames him for the fall of Khaenri'ah, leaving him to go join the Abyss Order. Dainsleif meets us in Mondstadt. Lumine shows up to warn us not to trust Dainsleif, and leaves us saying "Though we need not rush brother, I have more than enough time to wait for you. We have always had enough time." In Liyue, Zhongli tells us "Every journey has its final day. Don't rush." At the end of the travail trailer, Dainsleif says one final doorway remains at the end of our journey and we must step forth if we "understood the meaning" of it. Could this imply that Dainsleif and Lumine rushed to the end of their journey, only to find that rushing straight ahead was not enough to "understand its meaning"? If a descender is one who possesses a will that can defy the world, is this perhaps the will to .... take your time?
Lumine woke up 500 years before Aether and during that 500 years, she experienced the darkness of Teyvat while Aether woke up 500 years later and only experienced wonderful memories that's why he didn't know why Lumine changed
It has been 4 years since Genshin Impact was released. I still remember coming back from school, playing Genshin on my laptop with my friends, and listening to the peaceful soundtrack. Yeah and they also highlight the fact that, although he is different from paimon and is more depressed and also going through loss, dainsleif still shows care for abyss twin. This can also be seen in the dain quests where he shows his knowledge of his sister and his regret of the fight they had. Paimon and dainsleif are a perfect example of a foil, they serve the same purpose yet have their differences and these differences cause the changes in the twins path, even though they are interchangeable. the title is interesting considering theres an actual poem called “The Road not taken” by Robert Frost. The poem starts of in the woods with two roads “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood” which represents two choices, “And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood” which the traveler regrets not being able to take both of the roads since theres only “one traveler”. maybe this animated short shows us what each road leads to? I just find it really interesting why hoyoverse chose this title?
I feel like the road not travelled would be referring to the different siblings we choose? They would have slightly different ways of interpreting the journeys, even though they are very close and would make very similar decisions. Of course, that is just me brain dumping.
@@arghya_333 considering how the poem is in the perspective of a person who took one of the paths, maybe the poem describes the path one of the siblings took. in the description it says “Is now the untrodden path by which I seek you” maybe it means that the poem is in the travelers perspective? “Both that morning equally lay. In leaves no step had trodden black” in the poem, morning symbolizes n new beginning and endless possibilities the day has to offer. Maybe this has some connection to the traveler and their journey considering the traveler is in the beginning of their journey while abyss sibling has already walked through their path? since in the poem the last line is “I shall be telling this with a sigh. Somewhere ages and ages hence: two roads diverge in a wood, And I, I took the one less travelled by, And that has made all the difference” maybe this is the abyss sibling perspective since they have reached the end of their journey. Or it’s the traveler in the future talking about their life choices?
The poem "the road not taken" is about a man confronted with 2 paths in the woods. He took one path but still regrets not taking the other one as he doesn't like missing out things. Its cool that hoyo used this connection.
No no no that's wrong my guy the Road Not Taken is a poem about a guy taking the road that is less traveled by and it had made all the difference. The Road Not Taken BY ROBERT FROST Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

Yeah, it shows that both Dain and Lumine/Aether have both gone through the same disaster and they understand each other as equals. No one's suffering is bigger than the other's, so Dain is there to remind the sibling to keep moving forward. For all she has shown, Paimon hasn't witnessed Khaneriah's fall and only knows what the Traveler has been through with their sibling on their journeys and that they lost their sibling when the unknown thingy-god trapped them. So she's there to always help him get up, but does not have the same feelings and memories of what the Traveler has been through. Just wanted to point this out because I assumed you were belittling the relationship between Dain and the Abyss sibling.

The fact that Lumine already traveled Teyvat once before them even coming there and getting trapped, it shows those years on Lumine's perspectives about the past and then Aether on the present trying to gather clues to find his sister.
As someone on reddit said: ''It is very interesting how in nearly all shared shots between Aether and Lumine (in Mondstadt, in Liyue, and in the desert at the very end) Aether and Paimon are depicted as close together, while there is always distance between Lumine and Dainsleif. And at the very end Paimon drags Aether to his feet and they walk alongside each other happily, while Dainsleif merely pats Lumine's shoulder while he walks ahead and Lumine trails behind him with an angry look on her face. It definitely seems to me that Lumine and Dainsleif's relationship was a lot less cordial than Aether and Paimon's and likely soured even more over the course of their journey, likely due to the Caribert incident and such.''
There's a palpable distance but its very clear that at least dain cares. He was a knight prior to the fall, and he's generally a stoic and serious guy, maybe thats why he usually opts to give lumine space and watch from a distance rather than directly comforting her like paimon does to aether. I mean, if he didnt care then he wouldnt be this hung up over lumine years after their breakup
@@naryle9415 Dains cares, and probably still cares, but he is also stoic and a broken man himself. He also seem to put the goal of the journey above friendships/relations. The opposite of what we with paimon are experiencing
actually sobbing. dainsleif and lumine had a different definition of companionship rather than what paimon and aether think them to be. dain and lumine probably were companions of convenience, and did not find it in each other to express comfort or empathy for the other not because they didn't want to but because their goals aligned differently whereas paimon views being there for the traveller throughout the highs and lows as a not only a duty but also a genuine relationship
I don't know about that. There was a line of dain talking about wanting to rescue lumine and about how much she loved the flowers. So it must be because they're not mostly travelling to find her brother but because they are hiding and looking for something else because if you pay attention to lumine's pov, they always camp outside and never in a tavern indicating that they don't want to be noticed or that they don't trust anyone
@@henrireyes2876 wait but didnt the sumeru world quest with the aranara mention that your sibling also travelled along the same areas and helped whoever came along the way? is it really a matter of distrust?
@@henrireyes2876 good point, but till date i wonder if dain was truly referring to lumine, for all we know. i feel you could have different theories on that, one theory somewhere even mentions the unknown god. i think the upcoming archon quest will shed more background tho.
I think they cared about each other- especially Dain, who talked about the whole flowers thing (likely Lumine because he seems to talk to us about being more worthy to save her- probably our sibling. and the shot is on inteyvats which she wears) and seemed hurt when Lumine said we shouldn't be traveling with him. I imagine it's because Dain is a very stoic person and was also recovering from what happened in Khaenri'ah, so he just didn't have the same warmth Paimon provides to pull Lumine out of her lows
she also had a song for the Narzissenkreuz fanimation, so pretty likely to see her return again for a genshin anime song, especially since it's ufotable
@@gav_m5 Aimer is a prominent Japanese singer who is known for her unique voice and her ability to sing beautiful and emotional songs. She has also done many anime openings and often appears in ufotable projects, so she might do the genshin anime op when it comes out.
2:19-2:21 the way aether laughs and smiles with lumine is so 🥺(he never did that so brightly in any cutscenes); dehya and paimon were right, the traveler indeed have a precious smile, and seeing them genuinely happy when they're with their twin makes it even more heartbreaking
This animation really reinforces more and more that Dainsleif and Paimon are counterparts of each other. I really hope we get just a crumb of Paimon lore on this archon quest. I'm STARVING for knowledge on her existence!
There are one more when Aimer sing a song for Genshin, tittle is "End Of All", its hoyofair-like animation for Genshin CN anniversary, you can search it on YT
As an identical twin and a player of genshin, I always felt extra connected to lumine and aether compared to other characters ; they're dynamic and the relationship between twins is really well portrayed through them, unlike in other kinds of media where identical twins are basically the same character copy and pasted: They have different persinalities, character and mannerisms in general, but also some similarities which link them together, just like real twins. This is one of the most beautiful genshin animations I've seen so far, well done Mihoyo. 🎉
I can feel this... I lost my twin back in 2019, and when this game came out... And I saw that they get separated, I got so invested in the lore, and I still am so desperate to see them reunite. I just don't want them to face the worst fate of losing each other
You guys don't understand how much I'm crying because they basically just make: Lumine braids Aether hair and Ather puts Inteyvat flower on her head as CANON. 😭
@@kevingame3198 That is not the time to ship everyone. I can't with Lumine and Aether that how much time the siblings has try to finding each other along with Paimon and Dainsleif 😭
Ok can we appreciate just how comforting yet full of emotions this animation is?? Literally it drops so much lore now, and as a lore lover this is the best for me! And let's not talk about the song, it's literally so good! The singer conveyed the emotions so well- I love it
0:57-1:00 shows the massive time gap between the 2 siblings, just look at the broken Tree in Aethers time (current), massive in width compare to the young flourish version Lumines timeline. Love the details of this trailer
*Look at companions.* I mean at first glance, Paimon and Traveler have a much better relationship than twin and Dainsleif. It's like Dain and twin are already at odds but are forced to walk together. But imagine that you are losing not only your loved ones, but also people for whom you were personally responsible and the whole country. He can't be blamed for his aloofness, because he is in exactly the same situation as twin. Dainsleif look at twin all time. Maybe he wants to support sibling, but he can’t, because he himself needs support. They are simply broken. In his first quest and in some videos, Dainsleif said that he was very glad for those who have the opportunity not to be alone. *anyway* Anyway Just imagine Paimon and Dainsleif talking behind the stange somewhere. - Did the traveler’s sibling also climb onto the roofs of houses? - Constantly. Constantly. One day she even broke the roof of a house in Kaenri'ah because her foot fell through it. When I pulled her out of there, she called me..... - Emergency Food? - Walking packed lunch. Wait...did he joke like that too? - EVERY DAY BRO - bro... . After watching this video 14 more times, I have lore questions. When Lumine wakes up, she already has intayvat ( Kaenri'ah flowers) in her hair, which means this awakening was not when the twins ended up in Teyvat, but after the cutscene with the Unknown God. And the second theory. Could the place where both twins awaken be a dandelion sea? Yes, there are other plants there, BUT OMG THERE ARE A LOT OF DANDELIONS THERЕ. Is it possible that our twin met Dainsleif in Mondstadt and not in Kaenri'ah? Aether meets Paimon, and in the next shot Lumine seems to meet Dainsleif.
Ya know. All this talk about Dainsleif and Paimon being opposites really had me thinking. They're opposites in a lot of ways. Not only can you pull the light and dark themes from them, but you can also see that they are opposites personality wise as well. Dain is always quiet, calm, knows what to say and when, and a logical thinker while Paimon is loud, hyper, speaks before thinking, and an emotional thinker. The two reslly are pure opposites.
What I find interesting is the idea that while Paimon is guiding Aether, the time of day is dawn, but while Lumine is guided by Dain, the time of day is nightfall.
and Aether wakes at sunset while Lumine wakes at dawn.

I *LOVE* how Aether’s path is shown as overall much brighter:
He waked up, in the darker place, yet at the end, he is travelling with Paimon towards the rising sun, while Lumine wakes up in a brighter setting, yet ends up walking alongside Dainsleif into the nightfall.
Aether set out on the journey with hope of finding Lumine. During this journey, he is getting more and more hints that he can not only find her, but that she is actually still alive (even in spite of that 500 years of time distance between their awakenings).
Imagine now, how it must’ve looked from Lumine’s perspective:
She might’ve woken up a bit more hopeful, having known the location of her brother’s imprisonment, but grew more and more desperate trying out and seeking all of the different ways of freeing him - all futile.
Eventually, (after 500 years of trying) when she finally finds a way to free him in that godless, underground kingdom of Khaenri’ah, all her hopes are crushed once again, as it gets struck with Genshins *even more literal* equivalent _Rods of God_ superweapon, forcing her to flee & watch *everything* collapsing all around her, threatening her to get buried in a rock, just as we were…
Aether’s road is paved with increasingly ever so brighter beacons of hope, while that of Lumine is more akin to an ever so crushing treadmill of despair.
This entire thing operates on such sublime, hermetic symbolism, it’s really hard not to enjoy it once the connections are made 💜
that was sad and heartbroken😢
I was just thinking of the switching of the dawn and dusk between the two at the beginning to the end. Beautifully symbolic.
I love how your described their story being both poetically beautiful and tragic
Hoyoverse needs to hire you.
sorry if i'm wrong but aether and lumine both arrive a little over 500 years ago, lumine wakes up and in theory she knows where aether is but he doesn't wake up, lumine lives in khaenriah for a while, there comes a time where the disaster of 500 years ago occurs, at that moment lumine manages to awaken aether to leave teyvat and that is when the heavenly principles just imprison them both. lumine somehow breaks free, begins her journey with dainsleif through teyvat and comes to the conclusion of allying herself with the abyss due to circumstances like caribert's. as far as is known, lumine's journey is past the events of khaenriah and in some cases like the Paríh and aranara, solving the disasters that were the consequences.
Yess!! Something will always be missing whenever they're happy because their twin is not by their side, which hurts😭😭
And literally lots of Genshin players just like waifus/husbandos and wanna marry them while they just don't focus on the main lore and their siblings. :/
Home is where the heart is and this tends to be family members you truly love they are that home and not being around them can hurt real bad

Could, yes.
However, it is *pinting on the video* clear here, that Aether is the MC.

I really like genshin because Aether and Lumine don't feel like stereotypical twins in other media. They're well written and I feel I can always relate to them.
Aww thats so sweet
yk this fits the story of like genshin because canonically lumine woke up before aether and did the story of genshin tehnically before him. so the line "i cried too when i first played it" really plays into this.

another theory is that the whole game goes in circles. each iteration the twins roles are swapped.
That's because they're living the same exact thing
That is very likely, because the Abyss twin says, they already walked through the journey the Traveler is on. They also say, time doesn't matter. The timeline (The Abyss twin wandering around and becoming the Abyss leader, the other outlander who helped the Aranaras before us and looked like us...) makes sense only if there is some time travel is involved. They're agressive towards us because we were taught to attack them. Their main objective seems to be to give order back to the original masters of the world by dethroning the heavenly principles, the ones responsible for: the fall of dragonspine, the destruction of the chasm civilization, the death of nature in half of sumeru, the fall of the three main deities of sumeru who THEY put in charge, most of the fall of the seelies, the destruction of khaenri'ah, aka the abyss order's original home, wich then resulted in the curse of immortality, wich is perfectly reflected in the newest fontaine world quest about the remurians only being free from their torture once they were able to rest in piece
Even the archons seem to be against the heavenly principles.
Don't rush."
At the end of the travail trailer, Dainsleif says one final doorway remains at the end of our journey and we must step forth if we "understood the meaning" of it. Could this imply that Dainsleif and Lumine rushed to the end of their journey, only to find that rushing straight ahead was not enough to "understand its meaning"? It has been 4 years since Genshin Impact was released. I still remember coming back from school, playing Genshin on my laptop with my friends, and listening to the peaceful soundtrack. Those were amazing times with no stress, no bad thoughts, and no problems.
Now that I've grown up, I play Genshin whenever I come back from college, but only for about 10-20 minutes. Even in those short sessions, it's the most peaceful time of my day. The music, the story, the characters-everything is perfect.

2:50 explains why Paimon is absolutely necessary to the story without a single word, there is so much in such a simple little shot
The traveler you pick is no different than his or her twin, the only difference is the one who guided them( and the part with sustainer and whatever but forget about it)

Edit: I just checked the Travel Log in-game, and I was wrong. There was no direct implication that it was Aether who gave it to her or vice versa. the title is interesting considering theres an actual poem called “The Road not taken” by Robert Frost. The poem starts of in the woods with two roads “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood” which represents two choices, “And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood” which the traveler regrets not being able to take both of the roads since theres only “one traveler”. maybe this animated short shows us what each road leads to?
I just find it really interesting why hoyoverse chose this title?
AHHH That's so interesting thank you !!!!
@@noitavlas I really hope someone dives deeper into this it would be pretty cool since the poem could have some similarities with the travelers
Genshin Impact doesn't deserve to be compared. It is simply a masterpiece , nothing short of it.
The poem "the road not taken" is about a man confronted with 2 paths in the woods. He took one path but still regrets not taking the other one as he doesn't like missing out things. Its cool that hoyo used this connection.

The Road Not Taken
BY ROBERT FROST
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

In the end, Paimon helped Aether to rise up while Dain, just tapped Lumine and walked by.
Just wanted to point this out because I assumed you were belittling the relationship between Dain and the Abyss sibling.
it feels like it's just different personality. Dain is more reserved and paimon is more cheerful, but both seems to help and care for the twins in their own way. However it does seem like Lumi is the more introverted twin so it is harder to get close to her compared to Aether.

@@lelouchvibritannia1662canon friends to enemies though
As a dainslumi shipper myself, i was expecting them to have more interactions in this animated short
But, i guess this is good enough. The last part where dain touched lumine for a moment is quite wholesome
The fact that Lumine already traveled Teyvat once before them even coming there and getting trapped, it shows those years on Lumine's perspectives about the past and then Aether on the present trying to gather clues to find his sister.
As someone on reddit said:
''It is very interesting how in nearly all shared shots between Aether and Lumine (in Mondstadt, in Liyue, and in the desert at the very end) Aether and Paimon are depicted as close together, while there is always distance between Lumine and Dainsleif. And at the very end Paimon drags Aether to his feet and they walk alongside each other happily, while Dainsleif merely pats Lumine's shoulder while he walks ahead and Lumine trails behind him with an angry look on her face.
It definitely seems to me that Lumine and Dainsleif's relationship was a lot less cordial than Aether and Paimon's and likely soured even more over the course of their journey, likely due to the Caribert incident and such.''
and with every nation the distance grew farther apart...
There's a palpable distance but its very clear that at least dain cares. He was a knight prior to the fall, and he's generally a stoic and serious guy, maybe thats why he usually opts to give lumine space and watch from a distance rather than directly comforting her like paimon does to aether.
I mean, if he didnt care then he wouldnt be this hung up over lumine years after their breakup
true

*anyway*
Anyway
Just imagine Paimon and Dainsleif talking behind the stange somewhere.
- EVERY DAY BRO
- bro...
Maybe he's the reason after Timmie's pigeons trauma
Was Dainsleif there with the pigeons 500 years ago?
Timmie wasn't there 500 years ago
that timmie ancestor , the ruin guard
lmaooo
When dain gives an encouraging pat on lumi's shoulder, and her determined expression😭😭😭😭
