Dickey to Gregg after spending time with JP and the band considering hiring him."Either we're gonna hire him or I'm gonna ask him for lessons".True story.
Jack Pearson is one of the most underrated guitar players. He's got it all: Chops, imagination to no end, listens to the sidemen... plus he's got a voice he knows to adapt to any song he plays. Playing a cheapo Squire and sounding like this shows once again it's the player and not the guitar.
Without Betts, none of these great songs would even be here to play. Kudos and applause to to Mr. Richard Betts for his contributions to Rock music. And especially thanks for In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed...
Jack Pearson's guitar playing is much like the river in the song. It just keeps on flowing. It don't worry about where it's going. It already knows where it's going; to the right place to sound great. His playing is very smooth, and he makes it appear so easy, and natural.
the beautiful warm singing sustaining tone he gets out of that single coil Squire, amazing. Love how he ends it with a little nod tag to Little Martha, brilliant.
Jack Pearson, he's not in it for all the attention he just loves the instrument and the art of it, unfortunately that can't be said about a lot of people.
Glad I clicked on this. It is spectacular. I have to admit though that I was hoping for High Falls when I read "obscure" in the title. Jack used to fly on that song during his brief time in the ABB. I would love to hear him play it again.
Charlie Christian was compared to bird in flight. Jack can make me feel the same way. Kudos to the drummer too for keeping responding to everything thrown at him there.
thought you could pay electric guitar ? If you listen to just 2 guitarist today it should Redd Volkaert on a telecaster and Jack Pearson on a stratocaster . Both very humble and masters at their craft .
All of you ripping the word "obscure" need to get the irony in the writing. It was giving praise to the song being well known.Geez people, did any of you go to school?!!!
School and college. Dedicated to education. I get it now, you were being amusing. You got me good. While I'm here, I wasn't particularly impressed with Jack's self indulgent riffing. A good editing might wonders for this.
Wow, OBSCURE is right. I've heard Blue Sky about one thousand times now. I mean, the Allman Brothers Band Dickey in solo bands probably only also played this a couple thousand times. Yes, this song is RARE, just NEVER PLAYED. Thanks for this rare oddity.

Rick Beato, do yourself a favor and interview JP. He is one of the most undisputed, unaffected and underrated musicians of our times.

JP makes it seem so effortless
I just found Jack Pearson this year…I’m an idiot.
What an incredible talent!
Me too! How did he get by me for so long?
Such a great musician! I could listen to him forever!
Someone said this needs two guitars. Really? Jack all by himself . . . speechless. And absolutely knocked out by the drummer!
Jackie is the best there is .......would love to meet that guy one day.

YOU SAID IT MAN ! 👍

Wow, quite poetic and true.

nice job, already knew of his guitar skills but only second time I've heard him sing great voice.
Fantastic cover of one of the most beautiful songs ever. I saw video of you and Dicky playing Liz Reed. Just mesmerizing.
Great Tone! Squier Strat
beyond amazing masterful does not get to his level thank you for this
Killing
Just awesome !
I love Jack!!
Jack's singing ... has gone from lovely to irresistible ....
Yea it really has evolved perfectly
Anyone notice that he’s playin this tune on a $135 Fender Squire?
He buys them used, so maybe more like $80 :-)
This is unbelievable
Nothing pretentious there.
Plugged into a Jack Pearson signature amp
Jack says he gets em for 70 bucks and some for 100! When you need a refret, you buy another one!
Beautiful rendition...

Drummers pretty badass
love it! :)
Roll away the dew.
good lord
❤
Imma start calling him Jack Squire!

Sarcasm
I realized that. I enjoyed this tremendously but I was hopeful for High Falls, none the less.
This is music at its best. This should be on mainstream radio every day! Not electronic crotch pop!
in the original key! Which is nice!! tasty
Good job..!!!

He seems so inflappable in every video. And I watched many of him in the last few says. “Hey guys, building’s on fire but we’re gonna play one more.”
God damn does JP really play this song beautifully.
All of you ripping the word "obscure" need to get the irony in the writing. It was giving praise to the song being well known.Geez people, did any of you go to school?!!!
So no bass player??
Just curious
Obscure? Where the hell have you been?
I've been to school and college, where I learned to read. See my reply from 10 months ago.

Jack is an old friend, but Blue Sky is an obscure song? I think not, do not know why that was directed at Dickey?
Great song and very nice cover, but hardly obscure.
I think it was a little joke ....
Frank Thurman It's just a prank, bruh!
Just some crazy humor to see what we would all say, just a good laugh, just creative musician crazy humor.
Irony.
Very sweet just imagine how much sweeter would be on a Les Paul💥
Blue Sky is not obscure unless you are unfamiliar with the Allman Bros band.
But, apparently, ironic comments are obscure.
@@popitz Apparently understanding irony is very obscure. SMH
obscure? lol

Really? An "obscure" Dickey Betts song....WTF?
It's called 'Sense of Humor', ...Google it.
Irony - duh
