After i rewatched season 1 Jamie never showed love or interest to Laoghaire, whenever she talks he ignores her and never pays attention to what she says, he was just acting nice and sweet (himself) and she mistook it for love and crush especially when he offered to take her punishment, she thought because he loved her. A lot of girls fall for the same mistake she fell onto, a man showing little nice gesture that means he’s in love, not. All his body language, his conversations, acts says nothing about love. He showed more interest to Claire, sitting next to her, trying to steal a conversation, trying to find an excuse to talk to her and spend time with her, now that’s more love to me than how he treat Loaghaire or whatever her name is

Laoghaire's own father was the one who wanted her beaten, so probably she never knew much kindness in her life before then. She latched on to Jaime becaus he was the only one who ever helped her. Jaime eventually married her for the same reason. It would be the kind thing to do for that family. But he never did either from love. Laoghaire either didn't know the difference, or didn't care about the difference. Jaime was the best hope in her life.

In the book Claire had left and was going back to the stones….leg hair shot Jamie on purpose….Fergus left on horse back to find Claire to bring her back to help Jamie…. Jenny tried to help but infection set in….he had a bad fever…. Fergus found Claire and told her that he was dying…. So she rode back with Fergus and gave him the penicillin and saved him.
I never felt that Jamie lied to Claire. He just never told her about his marriage, hoping to find the right time, which was a secret. There was much evidence that Jamie was trying to find a way to tell her with hopes it would be best understood and accepted. And I believe Loughaire planned to shoot Claire, not Jamie. In her anger she squeezed the grip, thus the trigger hitting Jamie instead.

I think was a lie by omission: when a person leaves out important information or fails to correct a pre-existing misconception in order to hide a truth from orders.. He didn't lie, He just didn't tell her. Jaime introduced Claire to Yi Tien Cho as his wife - she introduced herself as Claire Randall and Jamie corrects her: Miss Malcolm.. , my wife ... did the same with Madame Jeanne. He leaves in a brothel .. how do you are going to imagine that a married man leaves in a place like that? In Jamie's defense, he tried to tell her and knew that will be very hard for her when he reveals it and try to find the best moment - that I think never will be a good moment to tell her anyway ..., and to make things worst - the way she discovers was the worst possible...more room for misunderstanding plus Jeanny intervenient .. a disaster... Once Jamie told the story of he got to marry Laoghaire, it made sense to me. At the time, Jamie was a broken man yearning for a family of his own to fill the hole inside him. And, based on the story, it seems Jamie married Laoghaire to raise her daughters and not out of any feelings he may have had towards her. Besides, I think he must have thought enough time had passed for Laoghaire to change. Sadly, he was wrong.

Have you ever had a long term relationship? Romantic love doesn't work like in these kind of shows, is not eternal and one doesn't have one only true love in their live. When a relationship ends or you are parted, seemingly forever with that person, it hurts, but eventually you get over it, you heal and one day, you fall in love again. That's the normal natural process, clinging to an ended relationship, staying stuck in it, it's actually a very unhealthy thing to do.

That's another one people tend to forget. It's the freaking 18 century, laoghaire needed to find a husband, she was pressed to it despite being so young. And jaimie was practically the only decent option around. And he entertained her, he was not really interested in sometjing serious from the start but he still entertained her flirting and kissed her, etc. Just to one day come back married to claire( who supposedly had been helping laoghaire get jaimie till then).i am pretty sure he never had an honest conversation with laoghaire , he let her think they had something. The one who started the whole mess was jaimie himself by leading her on, if he had no serious interest in her he should have rejected her from the begining and be clear with her.

What I don't understand about this scene is that Claire implies that he went back on their agreement from "Mark of the Devil" where they could keep secrets but not lie to each other. I agree. It was no secret to everyone else, just to her. And, he was in the midst of telling her when the girls just flounced into his room without knocking. What ticked Claire off so bad was WHO the new wife was. Some sweet and shy little country lass who adored him wouldn't have angered her near as much as bitchy Leerie. She'd have felt bad about interfering in a good relationship, but she was furiously angry about it being Leerie so it was just an excuse. He told her he never loved her so there was no lie.

That’s not true. Claire goes back because Jamie sends Young Ian after her to tell her that he’d been shot by Laoghaire. Young Ian also says that Jamie was furious when he came back from cooling off to find out that Claire had gone. It’s at the end of chapter 35 in “Voyager.”

I never felt that Jamie lied to Claire. He just never told her about his marriage, hoping to find the right time, which was a secret. There was much evidence that Jamie was trying to find a way to tell her with hopes it would be best understood and accepted. And I believe Loughaire planned to shoot Claire, not Jamie. In her anger she squeezed the grip, thus the trigger hitting Jamie instead.

I do too honestly. Boils my blood thinking about everything she did out of spite and jealousy, but I also feel bad just in how much of her life and youth she wasted on holding onto Jamie so jealously like that, because even when she did have him for her husband, she couldn't be happy with him. And yet even so she still wanted to hang onto him the minute Claire reentered the picture.

I think was a lie by omission: when a person leaves out important information or fails to correct a pre-existing misconception in order to hide a truth from orders.. He didn't lie, He just didn't tell her. Jaime introduced Claire to Yi Tien Cho as his wife - she introduced herself as Claire Randall and Jamie corrects her: Miss Malcolm.. , my wife ... did the same with Madame Jeanne. He leaves in a brothel .. how do you are going to imagine that a married man leaves in a place like that? In Jamie's defense, he tried to tell her and knew that will be very hard for her when he reveals it and try to find the best moment - that I think never will be a good moment to tell her anyway ..., and to make things worst - the way she discovers was the worst possible...more room for misunderstanding plus Jeanny intervenient .. a disaster...
Claire was in shock, surprise, in her mind he was not totally honest with her after seeing two kids involved, everybody in the family knew but her ..and called a whore by Laoghaire, is not easy,,, What was a secret for him - was a lie for her... I don't know why everyone keeps saying that Laoghaire was trying to kill Jamie. But, I don't see it that way. Laoghaire said that it was time for her(indicating Claire) to leave them be. She was trying to kill Claire and Jamie protected Claire.

I think it was more Laogherie tries to kill Claire!! The show revision still made no sense to me. in the book he didn't know she tried to kill Claire, so you could understand but for him to know and still marry her makes no sense. it is the on change I have most disagreed with!!
Once Jamie told the story of he got to marry Laoghaire, it made sense to me. At the time, Jamie was a broken man yearning for a family of his own to fill the hole inside him. And, based on the story, it seems Jamie married Laoghaire to raise her daughters and not out of any feelings he may have had towards her. Besides, I think he must have thought enough time had passed for Laoghaire to change. Sadly, he was wrong.
You're right about how it's more Laoghaire trying to kill Claire. Claire instinctively backed away while Jamie went into protection mode by moving in front of her. Honestly, it's been so long since I read the books I didn't notice the change till I read your comment. I would've liked if it had been closer to the books, but it's a minor change in my opinion.

Have you ever had a long term relationship? Romantic love doesn't work like in these kind of shows, is not eternal and one doesn't have one only true love in their live. When a relationship ends or you are parted, seemingly forever with that person, it hurts, but eventually you get over it, you heal and one day, you fall in love again. That's the normal natural process, clinging to an ended relationship, staying stuck in it, it's actually a very unhealthy thing to do.

Johnny & June Cash - each were married previously, yes, but they were truly in love with each other, so much so that when one died the other couldn't live without them. Stan Lee's wife passed and within weeks Stan passed too, because of the bonds they had. My own mother lost her love and never recovered. Humans have the capacity to enjoy bonds of love in so many ways, so if we can have partners the same way as wolves, or lions, or chimps, or dogs, or cats do, why then can we not also have love the way a swan pair has it?

You might be extremelly compatible with someone or really love them and still it may not work and you will get over them and find someone else. That's another one people tend to forget. It's the freaking 18 century, laoghaire needed to find a husband, she was pressed to it despite being so young. And jaimie was practically the only decent option around. And he entertained her, he was not really interested in sometjing serious from the start but he still entertained her flirting and kissed her, etc. Just to one day come back married to claire( who supposedly had been helping laoghaire get jaimie till then).i am pretty sure he never had an honest conversation with laoghaire , he let her think they had something. The one who started the whole mess was jaimie himself by leading her on, if he had no serious interest in her he should have rejected her from the begining and be clear with her.

What I don't understand about this scene is that Claire implies that he went back on their agreement from "Mark of the Devil" where they could keep secrets but not lie to each other. Pretty sure his having a second wife is a secret. He didn't lie and say he never married. I get that she's freaked out by the sudden news, but Jamie should have pointed out there were no lies instead of, again, saying I only love you. Like, he said that already.... I dunno. Nitpick, I guess.
I agree. It was no secret to everyone else, just to her. And, he was in the midst of telling her when the girls just flounced into his room without knocking. What ticked Claire off so bad was WHO the new wife was. Some sweet and shy little country lass who adored him wouldn't have angered her near as much as bitchy Leerie. She'd have felt bad about interfering in a good relationship, but she was furiously angry about it being Leerie so it was just an excuse. He told her he never loved her so there was no lie.

That’s not true. Claire goes back because Jamie sends Young Ian after her to tell her that he’d been shot by Laoghaire. Young Ian also says that Jamie was furious when he came back from cooling off to find out that Claire had gone. It’s at the end of chapter 35 in “Voyager.”
