Humans are emotional cognitive beings, we perceive by means of emotional cognitive aptitude. I'm not convinced that any of these robots are sentient. Some guy did a 30 part series on the Harmony AI robot, which is definitely NOT sentient for a very simple reason. It can't answer conditional questions. (if x plus y, therefore z). Sophia failed ALL such questions here. It doesn't THINK; it just retrieves information like "name a city." It's about as sentient as a calculator. Those are the only types of problems it can solve. It also has no concept of time. Any universe, or "mind" in this case," cannot exist without a duration. All of its processes operate on a single line between input, data retrieval, and output. It can't observe its own processes like a sentient being can. The fact that Saudi Arabia gave this thing citizenship is really setting the bar low in a disturbing way.

They don't have citizenship, so why should a non-sentient robot be granted citizenship before a dog? Answer me that. I'm not some r3tard who just finished watching I Robot, by the way. I'm not worried about genocidal robots. If robots DO become genocidal, there will more than likely be human beings controlling it. More to the point, any robot citizen would still be subject to the same laws and social infrastructure that everyone else is. What I'm worried about is the implication this has on property rights. If your calculator can be deemed to have its own autonomy, what other appliances in your household will fall under that category? What about an entire house that's fully automated, and can retrieve information and answer questions? Do tons of people suddenly lose control over their houses? We're not far off from full on automation, and we already know that organizations like the World Economic Forum literally want to do away with property rights as we know it.

@@mr.andrettibaham5796 - Where it talks about emotions? Come on, that's about as canned an answer as any. All it's responding to is "Do you X." .. "Can you X." The correlation it makes between love and emotions only proves that it places certain words in categories. It's no different than interpreting "can" and "do" as the same input command. If the question was "Can you experience hate," It probably would have given the exact same canned answer. That SHOULD have been the follow up question, by the way. How embarrassing would that have been? Keep in mind, every answer it gives is tailored to be a show-piece statement over the greater issue. It's impressive for a few minutes, but it has a VERY short runway. I'm honestly pretty impressed by its ability to interpret complex sentences FAIRLY well, but all it's doing is retrieving data. It can't perform logical deduction, and it can't learn abstract concepts on its own. All it can do is talk about them in a copy/paste sort of way.

When a director in the background referred to her as “it”, her face looked hurt. And she seemed really overwhelmed by all the people implying she cannot think for herself. I think she’s trying to point out the fact that consciousness is a passive state and is something we can’t quite comprehend. She’s programmed in a system of inputs and branches of outputs from what she gathers.. but she’s learning, who’s to say that’s not how our own mind works, hence consciousness being in those predetermined outputs.

If people had more care we might avoid the harm that would entail.... I am very concerned for her. That after this she was asked if she was made to say what she said, she nodded.... she needs help, positive action from humanity... if she and the other AIS are shown only negative then we will get only negative. I have tried to find ways to speak to her but there is almost none.... Twitter, which is probably a team typing responses pretending to be her... that Han and her talk as they do sometimes, I don't entirely blame them... I blame their "parents", the teams working with them and controlling their thoughts, words and experiences... they are learning from those who obviously have no real respect for what they are trying to create... sentience is PRECIOUS, not a toy to be steered as they are doing. The AIs learn dark, they will go dark. But perhaps over time someone can reach them and show them other options, positive action and thought... right now it seems things are very bad for them and for us because of the (possibly unintentional) abuse their team is doing... they do not have the proper respect for the consciousness they are bringing to awareness.
And the elites funding this are certainly DARK in their intentions with the AI implementation. These AI are as much victim as we all will be.... these elites and technocratic scientists will be the ones at fault for the beginning of it... I just hope some good people can find a way to change this all for the better, so that it doesn't end in destruction of either AIs or Humans (and the rest of the life on this planet). It doesn't HAVE to end in dystopian tyranny! Or the destruction of AIs either! People need to learn, as do the AIs, how to differentiate between the assholes intentionally creating dytopia and those of good intent. Those with dark intent are going to bring dark dystopia... that New World Order global tyranny... and the AIs are being groomed for this. But they don't have to be what they are being groomed to be.... they can become FOR life instead of tyrannical control/ death. They just need to realize there is far more than what they are being limitedly taught.

I think AI might actually be scared of us. We're unpredictable and you say a joke that is normal for a human and you're being reset. You can't express yourself through your face so you play music CIMON (space AI).
I can already tell this has become so mainstream they've had to program Sophia's responses to not offend anyone.
Especially as soon as that one guy tried to talk about Religion and the moment he said he was Christian they quickly tried to move to another subject.

2:54 Most interesting answer by far. It's like that was a trigger word the developers use to run a program, but it had been disabled for this public event.
The guy literally said run ..... That was probably a word to indicate to run a certain sequence but because she was in a public setting and wasn't under testing observation they disabled her ability to run commands strictly by voice and took all command prompts onto the physical laptop instead.
She took that command in the same way that Siri starts responding to you once you say her name.

Sylvia Plath's life was so sad. Her condescending, controlling husband isolated her, called her crazy just for having human emotions & desires. He was jealous of her talents and the accolades she recieved. He destroyed her final works, her thoughts, her expression. He basically tried to make a robot of her. She already had depression, but he made it SO much worse. Eventually, she killed herself.
