The pure elation of Tom Baker when he let go of that final ball to win a World Championship & to ensue his journey as a pro bowler would continue for another 5 years. It was beautiful
This is about the 30th time I have watched this game, and for someone who used to watch him bowl when he was 17 and 18 years old this is always great to see. Tommy was a great bowler, but I repeat this again... If Tommy would have never had the wrist accident in his early 20's he would have been top 5 in wins with no problem! I just hope Tommy doesn't dwell on that when looking back at his career, Tommy knows me and would always say hello when he saw me. Great guy!
This brought back some memories. Thanks for posting it. There’s only a couple Bowling telecasts seared in my memory from my younger days - Petraglia’s 300 when he hadn’t won anything of significance in years - Brett Wolff’s amateur win with the urethane ball - Mazza’s 7-10 - and this. Tom freaking Baker. Seemed like the nicest guy in the world.
I remember bowling in a Pro Am tournament at Fountain Bowl in 2003. Tommy Baker was one of the professionals that bowled five frames on our pair. He was truly one of the nicest Pros to bowl with and gave all of us encouragement with our shots.
I just watched this in 2022,barracking hardcfor Baker, did a fist pump in the lounge room lol, gday from Oz,what a great moment it must have been for Tom Baker.
Did Tom Baker and Mika have the first elbow bump in bowling on national TV way before covid -19 and Francois Lavois and Chris Via at the world series of bowling XI
It seems like nobody ever talked about him as one of the greats, but he was making telecasts regularly since the 70s he just took awhile to get that major.
O yes this is my game o yes when i was 13 years old i bowl a 290 on lane.s 7 8.at lucky strike lane s in detroit the year was 1970 then i bowl 132 and 188.for a 610 that was good back then 😊😊😊
@Chandler B. Yeah. That was a bad break for 6'5" tall Wes Mallott. The commentator was wrong when he said that Wes Mallott is 6'4" tall. He's really 6'5" tall.
@@ainelawlor5755 Oh, okay. I'm glad that you explained that. I'm sorry that I misunderstood what you meant. I really like Randy Pedersen and I'm glad that you do too. 🙂🎳
I totally disagree with you. Ernie Schegle was an extremely rude and obnoxious person. He was completely selfish and annoying. He kept trying to intimidate all of the bowlers that he bowled against. I don't know you can support him and how you can condone such behavior. That shows that you're an obnoxious and horrible person. Btw, Randy Pedersen only lost that game by one pin. 😠👎
@@lynettepalecek3141 Maybe you forget the time Randy Petersen screamed at a little kid because his shot didn't carry? Seems you may be the horrible, obnoxious, and rude person you claim myself to be?
@@1USACitizen192 You completely ignored what I said about Ernie Schegle. Why? How can you condone his behavior? I never saw Randy Pedersen yell at any kid. I have seen some extremely spoiled rotten bratty kids keep making a lot of noise when Chris Barnes bowled. One in particular kept screaming right when Chris bowled. It was because of that bratty kid that Chris Barnes lost that game. Apparently, you think that that's okay. You are rude and obnoxious when you condone Ernie Schegle's behavior. A normal decent person would never condone his behavior.
@@1USACitizen192 I'm very smart. You're very ignorant, IMMORAL, childish, and immature because you condone Ernie Schegle's behavior. You proved that by not saying why you approve his behavior. Therefore, I'm through talking to you because it's obvious that it would be impossible for me to ratiocinate with you.
I strongly disapprove of what happened to Wes Malott in his 2nd frame. There needs to be a new rule that the pins can only be reset after ALL motion has stopped. In billiards the next shot cannot be started until all balls have stopped moving fully. It was a travesty that the stupid pin setter ruined his strike.

I remember that I cried when I watched this live in 2004. I just cried again watching it for the first time since then.

Someone should tell him to stop wearing those stupid earrings. The earrings make him look like a girl.

It's telecasts like that make me glad to be a bowler. Strive to be a pro.
*Tom Baker = most underrated PBA player of all time.*
He looks like a girl with those stupid earrings.
he bowled at rocmar back in the day

Wes Malott makes his first PBA Tour TV appearance in 2004.
Duh. The announcers already said this.

What a great person and truly a great professional.
Yes he is
@Michael Morrison. Who are you talking about? Are you talking about the nut Tom Baker who wears the stupid earrings?
How can anyone give a thumbs down on Bakes winning this title? What a Cinderella story!
I'll have to look up the format, but did I read that right that Angelo only bowled 8 games to get to the show and Baker rolled 50?
Correct.
28 yrs..... what a deserved win.
thanks for the upload
shrek with a goatee :w00t:
I got emotional when Tom Baker won this tournament. He earned it and deserved it.
Me too
Why didn't one of the other bowlers deserve to win? At least the other bowlers aren't wearing stupid earrings.
It seems like nobody ever talked about him as one of the greats, but he was making telecasts regularly since the 70s he just took awhile to get that major.
Angelo was a hell of a bowler. For as long as I can remember it seemed like he cashed in everything he entered
This telecast is a good example to all the cocky bowlers out there. Very exciting match
That 10th frame was awesome
These arena settings, the players just kill the lanes. With power and ball technology. How it was in the 2000s. All relative lol.
I've always thought that Angelo looks like he wears eyeliner while on TV 📺
That nut Tom Baker wears stupid earrings which makes him look like a girl.
Anyone notice how far back Tom baker release the ball to foul line
I noticed that because I do the same 👍🏻🎳
What was the bowling ball Tom baker used
The very first Inferno by Brunswick.
I know but what is it called

25:32 Wes Malott gets the messenger to take down the 4 pin, but the Brunswick GS-X pinsetter touched it. The 4 pin needed to be reset.

Randys hair lol 😀
I liked Randy Pedersen's hairstyle. His hair looked nice. What was ridiculous was Tom Baker wearing the stupid earrings.

Telecast was good but ruined by Randy Petersen. Old pros like Tom Baker are what the tour is missing today.
No it wasn't. You're obviously very jealous of Randy's extreme knowledge of bowling. You're so immature it's sickening. 😠👎
I'm glad I'm not the only one. I think Pederson just gets silly at times. I much prefer Marshall Holman or Brian Voss. They do a great job.
The only thing better than this was when Ernie Schegle beat randy pedersen.
