keep practicing welding stuff together it will get nicer... the three things that i found with my harbor freight flux core machine #1 was getting the wire feed tension right so it would feed but slip just enough as not to kink when coming out of the nozzle to a non grounded object (the wire should feed out of the nozzle about 1" without kinking and then start slipping) #2 i removed the shield from the nozzle (it's not really needed for flux core) to see the welding puddle better (seeing my welds better dramatically improved my welding) . pick up a small tub of nozzle gel and dip your tip in it that will protect it from all the flux core spatter and #3 clean your welding material to bare metal. i taught myself how to weld as well i found it very liberating to fuse steel together myself. keep up the good work thank you for posting

Thanks for the insight. Never thought about the wire feed tension. I will work on adjusting that today.
