recreating cool art | vintage burger coasters

- In the 1970's an artist named Jo Anne Marquardt designed this fun cheeseburger coaster set for Jam inc. This is my attempt to create it myself, here's the materials that I used:
- Air dry clay
- Sandpaper
- Acrylic paint
- Glossy mod podge
Such a fun process and creative challenge! #artist #coaster #airdryclay #clay #artwork #vintage
It's official. You can't call yourself NOT an artist
Thanks, appreciate the encouragement! Check out what I did to the sign at the beginning of pt.3/my latest video 🔥🤷♀️
The sign it literally crossed so yeah 😂
No one can call themselves not an artist. Literally every single person on this planet is and can be an artist.
@@Kitkat_bar I agree! Every time I show off my art I always get someone saying they wish they were an artist.
@@Kitkat_bar well no, people who make art are artists, so if you don’t you’re not
FYI from a fellow not-an-artist tinker-'n-crafter: that spray will break down over time when in contact with moisture. If you want 🍔 to last forever, I recommend adding a top coat of something like Testors Dullcote or Mr. Super Clear!
Good to know thanks! Will definitely look into that 🙌
@@itsConnorCreatesalso if moisture gets through to the clay it can/will break the clay down over time.
I was definitely thinking about sumn like this too! Good tip ty!
@@beaglesforlife3361 I'm planning making this. Would you suggest another material?
@@toomuchawesomeness5886 either a better sealant, specifically a waterproof one, or a clay that has to bake to cure, as they will be more waterproof
My man you make far too much art to not be an artist at this point.
Haha thanks! Appreciate the encouragement 🙌
That's why he crossed it out haha
@@elliegrace6410 Just noticed that lol
I’d love to see more food coasters. Other than just the cheeseburger, I would love to see a peanutbutter jelly sandwich coaster set. Other than the two slices of bread, two coasters could look like jar lids.
Ooohh good idea! Yes! Would be so fun to experiment and try making different ones
like jar lid, pb chunk, jam chunk, jar lid coaster in a set?
Just found you but Im very excited to see how your channel grows and your journey!
Thanks, welcome aboard! Appreciate the support and encouragement 😄
I’ve never seen Modge podge like that before. But this is amazing you’re totally artist.
Thanks Angela! Appreciate the encouragement
The character development is crazy
😊🙌
this video deserves more veiws
Thank you! Appreciate the support and encouragement!
It’s impossible to make art without being an artist. It doesn’t even matter how good you are at it. The intention is the only part that matters
Well said, love that! 🙌🏻
The character development we all needed
Haha glad you appreciate it! 😊🙌
This is amazing!!!
Thanks Brad! 🍔😄
I love this so much! This definitely deserves to be appreciated more
Thanks! 😊🍔
@@itsConnorCreates your welcome!
What an innovative coaster! Great to start your day! Good job! 🎉
Thanks Seana! 😊🍔
if you make art, you are an artist. professional experience is not necessary, just the act of creation
Well said! Thanks for the encouragement
The "Not an artist" crossed off is my favorite. Keep it going 👌
thanks haha glad you liked that character development! was all cause of everyone's support and encouragement here on UA-cam 😄
I love how he is so happy all the time and trying new things
appreciate your support! 😄
You might want to use a stronger sealant than mod podge, mod podge is water activated and thus will break down over time, air dry clay is also water activated and soon it’ll kinda just be mush. Any sort of waterproof and durable sealant will work wonders.
Okay good to know! Thanks for the tip, I’ll definitely look into getting something to coat it with
Recreation is still art 😁 your a great artist
Appreciate the encouragement! 🍔
Dude you are an artist because your are MAKING ART!
You*
Valid point haha! Thanks! Appreciate your encouragement 😄
That is @#$%ing adorable.
Thanks 😆🍔
I got some Crayola air dry clay and had no idea on what to make, now I feel inspired 😍 (also new subscriber) 😊
Awesome! Lemme know how it goes if you make it 🍔 and thanks, welcome aboard
That's so cute!!
Thanks! 😊🍔
My little brother bought our grandma this!! She still has it we love it
Awesome! Would be so cool to own one of the originals 🙌🏻
As an artist who absolutely hates air-dry clay; you did AMAZING!!!
Thank you!! 😊🙌🏻 why do you hate air dry clay though?
@@itsConnorCreates I personally find it hard to work with. Depending on the brand it can dry really fragile, and some dry out extremely quickly (and I work slow haha). I usually prefer ceramic clay, as its pretty moist and less inclined to break after solidifying
I love this so much I have no words
Thanks! 😊🍔
I love how calm this is it makes it stand out more to other yt shorts I love it keep up the good work
Thank you! I appreciate you and the support/encouragement 😊🙌🏻
How are you not an artist? This was amazing

Thanks, appreciate the encouragement! 😊🙌
Originals are always the best though. 😊
True! 🙌🍔
It’s really easy to become an artist for whatever medium, just get something that inspires you to make something
Well said! 🙌 appreciate your encouragement!
I need those coasters in my life. Might try recreating this too.😂
10/10 it will enhance your life
Awesome work . my kids love that clay, cool to see what can be done with it
Thanks John! Ya it was a fun process
Absolutely love
Thanks! 😄🍔
Super cool to see how well you did. But for as a general PSA for everyone else if you want to try this do not use air dry clay. Even though it seems he used modgepodge as coating/sealant here it will eventually wear down. If you want long lasting ones invest in a good sealant but if you truly want to use them regularly don’t use air dry clay because the condensation from your cold drinks will reactivate the clay.
Good to know thanks!
Humans are extraordinarily adaptable. I want to be cool like you. And now I feel like I can’t be!
Love to hear that Bradly! Appreciate the support!
That's so dope
Thanks!
Well done !!!!
Thanks! 😊🍔
That's a really fun idea for a coster set!
I thought so too! 😊🍔
Bro that burger looks DELICIOUS
Wonder how good it would taste tho?
@@itsConnorCreates I believe that if you were to make a cooking video for your next video, it would turn out wonderfully (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
I like how since the first video the not an artist sign has been increasingly destroyed, that's awesome😂
Thanks! Glad you appreciated that lil detail 😆
This has inspired me to want to crochet a cheeseburger coaster set
Woah that’s awesome!! Would love to see how it turns out, message me on Instagram if you can :)
The one you made literally looks better then the original.
haha thanks!
Along this note, my mom made me a birthday cake that looked like a big cheese burger. She even made fries and put them in a container! This was back in the late 1970s. I took a picture of it with Polaroid!
nice job
thanks for a little jog down memory lane.
Aahh that’s awesome! Sounds like an amazing cake, and nostalgic memories 🙌
Wait that’s so cool ima try it
Thanks! 🍔 do it! Such a fun process
im so happy you changed your sign!! you’re totally an artist and always were!
Thanks! Was all cause of everyone’s support on here 😊🙌
i will never gatekeep the title artist but i would love to see your own art!!
Thanks for the encouragement! 😊
Crayola air dry clay doesn’t cure, it’ll soften again once it gets moist, despite paint and sealers.
Dang good to know, fingers crossed this one last for awhile 🤷🏻♂️🍔
Omgsh, nothing you do fails 😂 amazing stuff!
Haha thanks! I appreciate your support and kind comments 😄🙌🏻
Bruh I came up with this when I was in fifth grade art class, why does that always happen where you make a cool thing and then it's famous like 10 years later
Haha everything always comes full circle 😆🤷🏻♂️
Those are so neat and fun!! The burger patty looks fantastic and so realistic
Thanks! It was my fav one for sure! 🍔😊
that's awesome
Thanks! 😄🍔
if you make art, you're an artist, simple as that
