    I love Tenpoint bows. I started out with compound bows, the Barnett Recruit and the Whitetail Pro STR @ Bass Pro Shop but I had to bring the bow back to the shop 3 times because while practicing with the bow in my backyard, the strings, cables were fraying, and I was afraid the bow would snap in my face if I were to cock it so I took it back and BPS changed the head of my Whitetail Pro STR 3 times and then finally, I bought a set of strings/cables from BPS and then it was much better. I ended up selling the WTP on eBay because I wanted a bow that I didn’t have to worry about the strings anymore. Enter the Excalibur Bulldog 440, I ended up purchasing the crossbow and I have not had a problem with it so far. I have changed the strings myself with the stringing kit and the limbs without any problems. I took a couple bucks last year and so far this year I’ve only taken 2 Doe’s. I have changed the limbs and the strings for shit’s and giggles and every time I go hunting I bring a set of cables and limbs with me in case something happens in the field, I can change on the fly and continue with my hunt. The crossbow is so accurate that I do not need to sight in the bow even after a string/limb change. Excalibur’s are generally wider and not as compact but it doesn’t matter for me because I can hunt in the blind/ tree stand with no problems. The Bulldog 440 comes with an removable silent charger ext because the limbs are 300lbs+ and trying to cock it with a cocking rope is hard but it’s possible. It just to go to show that even if your crank becomes defective you can still cock your BD with the RCD but you’re screwed with the acuslide. If your acuslide is broken you can’t cock your bow so you’re going to need to visit your local bow shop. Not with the Excalibur and that’s why I love my bow. Plus it chronoed at 450FPS and it only costs $1399. Granted it doesn’t come with 6 regular bolts, 6 lighted bolts, case, and broadhead but i can buy them myself and save more money. I understand Tenpoint’s bundles all their accessories but I am fine with buying my accessories as needed so I can save money on the long run. The Charger ext with the Excalibur is a silent crank that’s ambidextrous whereas the acuslide is only for right handers. The Charger ext may be removed to shot with it attached and can easily be replaced by buying another Charger ext. the Excalibur is so much more customizable and you can always have a backup plan and keep a set fir backup on everything but you can’t do that with a Tenpoint. I think I will buy a Tenpoint this season just for fun. I am thinking about the S400 because this bow is way out of my budget.

    I have researched crossbows for the past three years because i bought a cheap but good crossbow for hunting but i want a high end crossbow now and i think this crank is the best i have seen in the market so far i congratulate tenpoint for learning from other company's flaws i think my decision for a new crossbow has been made thanks tenpoint.

      You haven’t done enough research because you would also be considering an Excalibur for a crossbow because they are so much more durable, accurate, and reliable. More so than Tenpoint. If your strings fray and break on a hunt, your day is over and of YOURE on a hunting vacation, your whole trip would be over if you have a string that breaks or needs to be replaced. If you had an Excalibur, you can change your strings on the fly and you would not lose out on a hunting trip. You can’t beat an Excalibur crossbow. They are wide but the convenience and durability is bar none. You can’t really rely on a compound bow. If your string/cable is broken you’re screwed.

    Would I like to have one yes, would I pay $3000 for it probably not as I am still in shock over the cost of over priced broadheads at this point. The need for speed is what will sell crossbows like this. I remember I was working at the bow shop years ago when we could not keep the new speed bows in stock that were braking the then magical 300 fps barrier. I don't know but I think the deer will be just as dead whether shot at less than 300 fps or 470 fps. Lets see who fires the next shot in the need for speed race. I noticed the 470 fps is with a super light 370-380 grain bolt. Think I would probably feel better shooting a heavy bolt and still be 400+ fps.

    IK Tenpoint makes phenomenal crossbows, comes with a bunch of stuff that other crossbow manufacturers dont give you and has some other great features but 3000 USD in my opinion is way too much. Most crossbows made by Barnett, Excalibur and other crossbow companies are 1000 bucks cheaper and will do 95% of what you want from a crossbow. Tenpoint makes amazing crossbows don't get me wrong but IMO a lot of them are just way overpriced.

    • @PetersensBOWHUNTING
      @PetersensBOWHUNTING  3 роки тому

      Personally I'd pick the Havoc, simply due to it being 4.5 inches shorter than the Vapor. The Vapor is a bit faster than the Havoc and actually about an inch narrower at full draw. However, I like the overall feel and maneuverability of the Havoc just a bit more.

    This is not the fastest crossbow... It shoots 470fps with 370gr bolts. With the stock bolts it gets closer to 450. The scorpyd aculeus shoots that fast with 400gr bolts. Better get a scorpyd that can actually shoot it's marketed velocity, oh and your strings wont snap.

    Boy that is really cool I don't think I've ever seen a crossbow like that before oh wait a minute Ravin crossbows come out with that two or three years ago right how come everybody now is coming out with this cocking mechanism and decocking mechanism and they act like it's brand new when Ravin come out with this years ago because they are all behind

    • @PetersensBOWHUNTING
      @PetersensBOWHUNTING  4 роки тому +4

      Don Wilson Ravin makes an excellent crossbow but to your point specifically no they do not have the ability to decock with an internal braking system like this. If you let go of the handle while decocking a Ravin you will have a problem. If you prefer a Ravin that is fine I just wanted to clarify there are some differences between the systems.

    • @donwilson350
      @donwilson350 4 роки тому

      Oh so you mean because the TenPoint is got a braking system to decock the crossbow that means that they come out with this design all by their self and they didn't copy Ravin at all on any of this you know I've had a Ravin crossbow for a few years now and by holding the button in to uncock the crossbow it is really not that hard to do and why you are decocking the crossbow if you let the button go it will stop so if you are smart enough to let the button go if it starts to get away from you you will be just fine

    • @donwilson350
      @donwilson350 4 роки тому

      Yes I know that 15 from PSE work kind of the same way but it did not snap on the string it used a loop Ravin disc took the formula and made the crossbow more advanced and now everyone is trying to catch up I am not saying that the 10-point crossbow is not a good crossbow I owned a couple of the defender crossbows made by TenPoint years ago I just don't like the idea that people cannot think outside of the box and have to try to copy everyone instead of doing their own thing look at the front ends on last year's TenPoint Crossbows that look just like the raven crossbow that's all I'm saying and they wanted the reverse Lim crossbow so they bought out Horton it's like they can't make anything on their own

    • @chuckfloeter7939
      @chuckfloeter7939 4 роки тому

      Don Wilson, Ravin crossbow’s were made with Tenpoint technology. Ravin bought a bunch of patents from Tenpoint to make their crossbow. Not sure why Tenpoint would do this but they obviously made a lot of money selling them the patents. Then sat back for a few years. Now they’re making their own with the same technology.
