Just a great funky rock song. You can't NOT smile hearing this. Great reaction as always Angela and I hope you feel better real soon. Sending love your way. x :)
This is a fabulous party song! They are in the same category as BTO, Grand Funk Railroad and others! I left a random comment last night about watching The Carpenters on BBC 1971! I wanted to add that Karen looked so happy and healthy in that video, and how I wish she could of stayed that way forever, as I wish all our happy moments could last for always! Maybe one day!
Rare Earth was a great band from Detroit, Michigan, one of the few bands with the Drummer as the Lead Singer on many songs. As you can hear, most members sang, at least backup, if not lead on some songs. Pretty funky for a bunch of white guys from the Mid-West, kinda like Wild Cherry, but earlier. Super popular song when I was in Junior High, now called Middle School these days.
Awesome song Angela, you now need to hear the extended, original album version that is an amazing 20 minute jam and a whole side of that LP, they are surprisingly good and keep you engaged. These guys had great chops, they also do an amazing version of I Know I'm Losing You (Rod Stewart does a great version, too!). Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Hi Angela. A little late but a very pleasant surprise to hear this song. In 71 that was a huge hit. It was everywhere! If you feel a little adventurous and need a funk fix. hahaha Dr John- Right place wrong time.
Wishing you a speedy recovery. This is a great song. It was out pretty close to (a couple of months after) the time my oldest son (I have 3) was born. So it's really engraved in my memory!! You always show respect and interest in the music you react to. Get well. And as we say in Texas; Y'all be safe.
THE LEAD VOCALIST IS ALSO THE DRUMMER , AND HE'S AMAZING ! IF YOU CAN FIND IT , LOOK FOR THE LONG LIVE VERSION OF "GET READY" BY RARE EARTH , THE TEMPTATIONS DID THE SONG TO ! BUT RARE EARTH'S IS MY FAVORITE ! IT'S ABOUT 21 MINUTES LONG ! I KNOW YOU CAN FIND THE AUDIO VERSION ! BUT YOU USED TO BE ABLE TO FIND THE VIDEO VERSION ! I HAVEN'T SEEN IT FOR A WHILE !
Excellent theme song. It was included in the soundtrack of The Expendables 2. I'm sorry your voice has been affected. I send you positive vibrations so that you heal soon. ✨
If you want to try another Rare Earth song, I recommend “Born to Wander.” Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well; that’s never fun. But I wish you the best, and will say a prayer for your recovery. Colds are annoying.
This was a message to everyone who was going through those times. There was a lot of struggle going on then. A lot of loss from the Viet Nam war, the struggle with civil rights. And through those times there was load cry by the youth to come together. God things haven't changed much. Never give up. There will be freedom and justice one day. And we need to celebrate life. I have a lot of high hopes for your generation.
Sorry you're not feeling well, but you still look really nice, always enjoy time on your channel, you seem so genuinely sweet. So fun seeing you really getting into each song in a different way, whether acting like you're dancing or just in the look on your face. Whatever you have - you remain full of life and sunshine.
In 1971 we were listening to a bunch of political music rock and roll during the Vietnam War. Music that came out back then was unbelievable from Neil young, Crosby stills Nash and young, CCR. the Rolling Stones Etc. After that Funk really hit hard in America check out a band called "Sly and the Family Stone"
Oh boy. This and I see she is going to do a Otis' great version of That's How Strong My Love Is... but this is a great one too!!! Best for the week will be one of the 2 . Well so far anyway. :) Angela with a rough voice. Blush :)
This is a great song that goes back a long time. Its as good right now as it was way back when. Feel better soon Angela 🙂
You just don’t hear Rare Earth anymore unless you own it. Born to Wander… Long Time Leavin’…. So many great songs!!!

Pete Rivera, another great drummer/lead vocalist. The man could outright sang. "Rare Earth in Concert" was two discs of live genius.
I just saw him perform Get ready on something called Huckabee's jukebox . Still has that unmistakable voice !
Always enjoy Rare Earth. If you want spend a pleasurable 20 minutes, check out Get Ready by Rare Earth. A wonderful musical journey.
Being a teenager back then we had this kind of stuff coming out of our radios every day.

Think they were the only white band on Motown and recorded several Temptation songs like Get Ready
Rare Earth was not the only white band in the Motown house but they were far and away the most successful.
They were the first all white band signed by Motown.
They recorded for Motown
