As a former CTA bus operator, Ive worked the #18 route and have had to make this horrendous turn many times Not an easy turn to negotiate! Thank god I was never met with an accident here.
This bus model is the 1990-1991 Flxible Metro-B with the 6V92 engine with the Allison V-731 auto transmission. These buses have since been retired in early-2009...
5740-5744 had the 6L71TA engine, while 5745-5764 had Cummins L10 engines (transmissions varied: 5745-5754 had ZF transmissions, while 5755-5764 had Voiths).
@@ajaytransitproductions Also, this bus DOES indeed have the 6V92TA engine. Buses #5740-5744 have the 6L71TA engine and bus units #5745-5764 has the Cummins L10 engine as well.
Back In The Day 1970's To The 90's When They Had GM's On This Route They Would Get Stuck Here Because Some Of The Buses Had No Reverse ,So Someone Would Have 2 Come And Hotwire The Trans
Wow it shows how they have advanced but who doesn’t put reverse on a Harvey passenger vehicle like this. There are many mistakes and situations that can occur that requires reversing to get out of them.

This bus doesn't have a 6V92TA. It's a 6V71TA.
@@ajaytransitproductions Don't you mean 6L71TA?

this is called aulternate turns . they have to borrow other lanes to make the turns so their rear wheels doesn't mount the right curve
This doesn't have anything to do with that...
@@Tvuvtctoj46fck You're not an operator so how would you know? Everything he said was true.
That turn is so tight

Rts is probably the hardest to turn with the wide wheelbase.
The CTA GM’s were notorious for that!
Oh shit there aint anyone on the bus! LOL!
