Good suggestion with the springs. Another thing to note that the video missed is that tuning up to pitch is typically better for retaining string tension vs tuning down.
Being a beginner guitarist at the age of 59 I love simple clear videos like this, I once read and don't know if it's true you should always tune the string down so you tune it up to pitch and it stays in tune, keep up the good work from a northern English lad that love the blues
Hi Geoff! It is always best to tune up to pitch, hence the term "tune up". That is such an obvious thing to me, it did not occur to me to put it in this video. Maybe next time. Great video for beginners, Eric. I've been playing guitar for 15+ years and have had various stratocasters throughout that time. I use three springs and have no issues keeping my strat in tune. Setting up the tremolo system the proper way is key. I would recommend watching any of the various videos that Fender has on tremolo issues. Keep up the good work!
Constantly changing tunings can be a problem on any make of guitar. That is why pro's don't do it. They have multiple guitars that are set up properly for each tuning. We just switch guitars! Then why have a whammy bar on your guitar? I bought a custom shop and it does not stay in tune so I did put the extra springs on and now it stays in perfect tune but I don’t have my whammy bar very aggravating to be honest for $4600 custom shop
Thank you for a great explanation. I just found your videos and really appreciate your approach. You've taken a lot of "mystery" out of playing. Thanks again Eric.
Great video Eric, another thing I've recently done with my Strat which has helped enormously is to change the string trees to roller trees and the bridge saddles to roller saddles. This has really helped to prevent some of the string friction and keep it in tune. The final thing I use which is amazing is Big Bends Nut Sauce, a lubricant that is used on the guitar nut and also on the bridge saddles, string tress etc. It's amazing stuff.

Mr Eric my Stratocaster parts caster thing the trem block is so hard to use I’m using all five springs and screws back All the way it’s not returning to pitch with out a pull
I had to do some adjusting on my to get it to go back. Very slightly loosen the screws that hold down the bridge. That should help. Thanks for watching my friend! nice video, When i change strings on my strat, I only change one string at a time starting with the low E. This helps minimize problems also. However, this only works if you have initially done the procedure in this video.
Hi! DeRon! Most tuners these days are fine, no matter the brand. I do suggest a "plug in" tuner for electric guitar. I use the clip on's only for acoustic, because they have trouble "hearing" and electric.

It’s a nightmare to change tunings though on a strat. I’m using one now primarily and man I hate that I can’t change tunings easily.

This is why I set all trems flush. Most of my guitars have fixed bridges, but when I play guitars with trems they are ALWAYS set flush.

Eric, which tuner do you use/recommend?

How to keep a Les Paul in tune...don't buy one.
That won't keep it in tune either, but I get it LOL!
