Just picked one up yesterday for $4.50 at a thrift shop! I have only used it with my stratocaster so far and it actually gets clean. It really is designed to work best with low output pickups. I found the tone improved a bit by baffling the back vents kind of making it more similar to a closed back cab. With the gain turned up enough for just a little grit when digging in, the feel and response is surprisingly good to me. A little slapback delay and reverb along with that and I was having a good time. This is most certainly making it onto a recording.
I have one, in burgundy. I would describe the sound as cold, wet, dirty, cardboard. But with headphones, it's a very useable practice tool and I will always love it for that! Thanks for all your work Miiike, you are awesome!
these honeytone can have great sound, sometimes you need to dial in the guitar as well, switch from neck to bridge or middle pickup, blend between them with the tone knob, between that and the controls on the amp you can find some good sounds. for what it is, a 20 dollar amp, its amazing if you got nothing else. The next step up, that I would consider anyways, is a spark go amp @ 120$ Which is a big step in quality, but also a big step in price.
I modded one of those into a tube amp cus the original circuit fried lmao. Apparently the power amp chip fries itself if you play too loud for too long.
I don’t know if anyone will see this, but I was gifted a honeytone, and it doesn’t put out sound. Does the battery charge? I’ve used power supplies but it doesn’t work, and I’m wondering if I should crack it open or if it’s something small that I’m not seeing. Does anyone have any advice?
@MollyL5 I haven’t found anything so far. And I tried opening it up, but my screwdriver was too fat to reach the actual screw, so i probably won’t be able to do anything for awhile even if I do find a fix
Mm your pickups are way to hot for that little amp, you will always get overdrive effects that way, it is designed for danalectro lipstick pickups obviously ..
Dayyym! I didn't expect that freaking fuzz tone!!!
I love how it has a handle, as if it's sooo heavy to lift!!!
Wow, no one expected this fuzz! Awesome

the same. i got it at a goodwill for 5$
I wish I had watched this review before buying the amp as a Christmas gift for my friend.
Funny, but for a little battery-powered clip-on amp that I can noodle on in the backyard, It sounds great.

EXCELLENT TONES
What do you want for $23 bucks ?
Honey tone RULES over ALL the other mini amps in tone quality. The speaker is crappy, but the circuit has a good sound.
Change the way you play the guitar, the vibe, or maybe different genre and it can sound good in its own voice
That’s an excellent point. Work with it as it is. Lo Fi. I approach inexpensive strats that way. No modding. Just use it for what it can do.

Have the same issue, any fixes you found?

Is it a center negative power supply? If it still doesn’t turn on, the unit is probably busted.
@@photoniccannon2117I think every pedal adapter does the job
