The fact that there are no cut aways during the whole video is the impressive part. It’s just one continuous shot.
It is the ultimate for a director the contentious shot. The Lord of the Rings trilogy had masterful ones. This video is impressive
Actually there is at least one cut but I won't spoil where it is. :)
Carter Carter The longest being in the wonderful film Atonement, directed by Jo Wright and starring Keira Knightly, James McAvoy, and a very young and utterly brilliant Soirse Ronan. And of course based on the equally wonderful novel by Ian McEwan. But, as is pointed out, this is not in fact one continuous shot in the Spice Girls' video.
So it seems, but its not
@@cartercarter645 love the Lord of the rings continuous shots. Game of thrones has some great ones aswell
This song was so popular at the time that, my radio station that did the “top 10 requested” songs of the day every night, just went ahead and played it 10 times in a row😂
That's hilarious!!!
They were a huge success all over the world. It was crazy.
😂😂😂😂
OMG 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The Spice Girls helped many girls in the 90s to be more self assured
It is difficult to over-estimate the influence of this song , it was absolutely huge at the time.
These ladies were huge.
I was 16 when the Spice Girls were at their peak. I rocked pastel pink pearl platform shoes and I'm only surprised that I didn't break my neck! I played their CDs so much that my 9 year old brother knew all of the lyrics to every song. 💜
Yeah the gold old days
So iconic..those girls are definitively pop royalty! Nice reaction Jay! Stay well :)
Yeah they were so much popular than K pop girl groups back then
How can you miss this one!? One of their most iconic song in mid-90's!!
You mean most iconic songs in pop history. It’s almost impossible not to recognize this song haha
He most be younger or wasn't even born in 96 when the song dropped 25 years ago
His reactions are fake to gain viewers…ofc he knows the song
@@djwalkerfemaledj I know popular songs before I born....
@@noecases5940 COOL
They were cute, energetic, fun, great voices and a really great balance of harmony, yell-singing (but not too much), and contemporary style! Terrific.
They’re classics
Spice Girls were very successful group and definitely stood out from their competition at the time, and the height of their success they were easily the biggest group going. Simon Cowell actually turned them down when they auditioned for him, and Simon has always said that was 1 of his biggest career regrets, if only he knew how insanely big this group was gonna get :)
Yup. And one of the Spice Girls ended up joining him as a judge on America's Got Talent.
I think in am interview I once heard they were all rejected individually, they weren't a group that auditioned as one, they banded together afterwards figuring why not
Mel B and Mel C can def sing... Also Ginger good vocals.. and nice sweet voices of Emma and Vic.... thats the Spice girls 🤗🤗❤
@@redletter2008 Not in this track but she does on many of their others.
Posh is the least singy of them
@@redletter2008 she had solo albums, all of them have released solo albums
Mel C have done so many good songs of her own as well
When I've been in clubs and this come on, I've seen girls push guys they've been dancing with off the dance floor so it's only girls on it and then we just dance and sing in sisterly solidarity.... It's awesome 😁😆
Lmao I'm sure
By far the best of all the girl groups. To say they were big is an understatement, they were massive I mean huge everywhere.
Listen to “stop” by the spice girls if you want to listen to another one by them.
I am a fellow Virginian, you will enjoy TLC WATERFALLS
LOVE that song!!! 💖💖💖👍
I like no scrubs and unpretty more.
Yep!!
100% agree. In my opinión TLC the best female group of all times. I will be 40yo and i am a fan since i was a teen. The lyrics of their songs, their vocals together and individually, their choreography, style, etc. They were the example that you dont have to dress trashy or show your A to have success. Their movie made me cry.
100 %! Great video too. It came out during a very stressful time for me.
I think it’s fair to say that the Spice Girls brought a whole new style and success story to the entire girl band element in the world of pop music. These days they have all got successful individual in a wide range of fields.
The brunette in the black dress is Victoria Beckham. Married to famous English Football (Soccer) player, David Beckham.
And also the only one who couldn't sing and didn't sing on this song....
And 'the brunette...', 'married to...' also happens to be one of the world's most famous and successful fashion designers!
It's a little bit depressing - and weird - that some people still define women based solely on their physical attributes and the career achievements of their male partners...
Come on people, this is the 21st century, not the 19th! :-D
@@papercup2517 She's hardy "famous or successful" because of her fashion attributes. It's purely on her name and her "pop career"
@@normandavidtidiman9918 Really? I wasn't a Spice Girls fan and haven't followed her career closely, but I think I know good clothes when I see them, and fashion industry insiders would appear to disagree with you.
www.harpersbazaar.com/uk/fashion/fashion-news/a23100548/victoria-beckham-rise-tenth-anniversary/
It appears overcoming the very 'pop-star' image you use to disparage her was actually a major hurdle in being taken seriously by the industry , initially. But seriously she was taken, once they saw the quality of her designs.
The article doesn't mention the OBE she was awarded for services to the fashion industry a couple of years ago, a very significant British honour that had nothing to do with either her celebrity as a former singer or her marriage.
Please gentlemen, try to keep your misogyny (or is it just general misanthropy?) in check. It does not become you.
@@normandavidtidiman9918 The girls don't all have solo parts in all of their songs, but they still all sing the chorus at least. As for Victoria, she can sing (she, like all of 'em did audition to be in the girl group after all), it's just that she doesn't have strong vocals, nor does she enjoy singin'/performing anymore, but she does have solos on almost all of their other singles.
The Spice Girls represent Girl Power, which is something I 100% stand behind.
....and shit music.
When i was a little boy i was deeply afraid of chicks like these...
Now as a grownup man i appreciate!
They were good, a groovy dance group, good beats, good melodies, very solid singing and lyrics
😂👏🏼
Never realized before that this is, if not one continuous shot, then a very well editted simulation of one.
Who Do You Think You Are, live at the Brit awards. Biggest selling female group of all time. Gold standard of girl groups. Loved this.
For manufactured girl groups, that make money for rich, white old men.. Girl bands that wrote their lyrics and music and were good musicians, and own their own publishing rights. do not hold the spice girls as a gold standard!
@@janes.1559 yeah, gold standard
Some of their other big hits I would check out are:
Stop
2 Become 1
Goodbye
Also, Too Much and Say You'll Be There
I'd recommend avoiding them .
Personality meets perfect pop music. One of the all time debut singles - and that single take video! They didn’t have many albums, but lots of killer singles. “Spice Up Your Life”, “Stop”, “2 Become 1”, “Viva Forever” and then “Goodbye” from when Geri left the group.
Do "Say You'll Be There" & "Spice Up Your Life".
Agree ☝️
YES PLEEAASE!! ☝️☝️
This was their first single and blew up in the UK, they were huuugggeeeeee in the UK and around the world and became the new blueprint for girl groups
The Spice Girls were the biggest thing during their hay day. They have many great songs. Their first three CD's were full of great music. You need to listen to their first CD and you will know how great they were. Thanks for the reaction.
Here’s the story from J to V: he likes it! I took my little nieces to see SPICE WORLD when it came out, thinking I was indulging them like a good auntie, but I had the best time. They do smart stuff.
Omg Say You’ll Be There by Spice Girls please! It’s so good
that's their best song, imo.
@@Krista2882 I agree!
Yes, I agree. Definitely they're best.
@@Krista2882 And best video.
Gotta do “Spice Up Your Life”
Yup, that is the one I really like.
That's the only Spice Girls song I really do like. This one is more of a "I've heard it so much as a kid and teenager that I have nostalgia tied to it, but never actually liked it"-song xP.
And Say Youll Be There 😊
To see a guy requesting a Spice Girls song is incredibly sweet. Total respect 👏🏻👏🏻 ❤️
For a die-hard rocker it is weird that I never get tired of this song. Their other awesome song was Spice Up Your Life.
Woohoo Spice Girls this is ultimate 90s great reaction 😁👍
Loved, loved them growing up in the 90's ❤
The Spice Girls were just incredible in the 90's, wow, you'll love to see other songs of theirs I promise!! xx
Definitely check out Say You'll Be There, Who Do You Think You Are, Stop, 2 Becomes 1 and Viva Forever for a smattering of their musical style. Great stuff.
Viva Forever is the one!
I'm always impressed by the video since its done in one shot
I wonder if they had to start over at any point during the shoot, especially with the part where Mel C did that backflip on the table.
Ha! It actually isn't, see if you can spot the join
@@agaskew I always thought it was 3 or 4 joins
@@aaronward9700 you're probably right
@@agaskew still impressive
Say You’ll Be There is forever my favorite song by them and I was a huge fan. Please do that one next ❤️
What I like the most about your reactions are, that you make me realise things I never did before even though I watched the music videos many times before. Also it‘s very nice to see you enjoying and appreciating the music. Btw the music video of Wannabe was recorded in one shot (no cuts).
The best and iconic girls band of all of times! ❤️
Summed of 96...14 years old! The Impulse body spray ‘o2’ was also released that summer ! I can still smell it in my minds eye when I hear this! Bought and paid for in Superdrug!!! Oh to be a school girl again ...sniff sniff 😢
"Two become one" and "Say you'll be there"
Those girls could sing and they took over the world. Girlpower! ☮️
"Who do you think you are" is a real banger! Try that next. I wasn't even a fan back then but that song got everyone to the dancefloor.
Love how you can hear their accents ☺️
I love your positivity about the music you view man. Makes your content a joy to watch.
"Mama" is a very good Spice Girls song, too.
that one always brings a tear... especially after my mom died.
Strong song -a bless to all mothers
Globally the most successful girl group till this day is Bananarama. Their biggest hits are probably "Cruel Summer" and "Venus". The former is often covered while the latter is a cover of the Shocking Blue song. Already reacted to those 2.
Actually the Spice Girls are FAR more successful. They are globally the best selling girl group of all time.
Spiceworld the movie. Them sending themselves up. Incredible fun.
And now you gotta do some Take That - try Pray. Those were the two big names of the 90s over here.
Stay? Do you mean Stay Another Day as that was East 17. But DEFINITELY some Take That would be amazing!
@@goldencherry9033 I meant Pray! lol!
I love how Mel B dances and her energy is on 10 😂
How about some Aaliyah - Are you that somebody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thumbs up to get this one on.
Yes😍😍
I grew up listening to these gals.....brings back memories in a calmer 🌎 world. The 70’s,and 80’s produced the greatest music ever recorded.. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.....Judy D.
Melanie Brown was also on Britian's Longest Running Soap Opera Coronation Street before becoming A spice Girl. Also she helped to write a Storyline about "Abusive Relationships" that she knows only too well since she too was "Abused". What Banarama was to the 1980's and Girls Aloud was to the 2000's in terms of UK Pop they were to the 1990's. The Red Headed Lady Geri Halliwell aka "Ginger Spice" was a Judge on Popstars The Rivals in 2002 while Victoria aka Posh Spice is married to David Beckham one of Europe's top Soccer Players
This girl group was huge back in the day
Great song and video! I remember when it came out in 1996. It was on the radio all the time and the video also on TV. I am a big Spice Girls fan since then.
I watched this get released, I was still a baby, at maybe 13/14. These women came kick ass back in the 90's and they continued to do so for many years to come. Still enjoy listening to their classics now at near 37 years old
That sister in the group is Mel B, the girl who used to be judge on AGT.
She also has a child with Eddie Murphy
They where hot in the 90s🔥🔥
Dude, im a 42 year old guy from Scotland and I love you're videos man. subbed !!
Everyone made fun of the Spice Girls, but they made some bops!!
90s girl. We all loved them. Great girl group and so fun! Def listen more of them and others.
Kinda reluctantly, some 25 years later, i have to admit this was a mighty fine tune. Which did i prefer, gotta be Ginger.
I can't believe there was no mention in the Comment section about my personal favorite song by them - Too Much. It's a ballad sung by each of them each in a different setting. It's a surprise after getting use to their playful mood!
Hope you had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...
I had hoped for some Christmas songs this weekend, especially Band Aid
Same. I’m telling JV he sucks right now! 😂😂😂
Agreed... J... Band Aid's Christmas Song is the "We Are the World" of Christmas Songs:
ua-cam.com/video/j3fSknbR7Y4/v-deo.html
Robert Plant (Led Zep lead singer) & Alison Krauss (most Grammy Awards of any singer) team up for some cool regular songs (some unique renditions of Zep songs) to their own album to a Christmas song:
ua-cam.com/video/JMYwWRom01c/v-deo.html
The BEST girl group to come out of England 💯👌
First time hearing also, catchy tune, video kinda crazy
This song is still played at a few parties I have been to! This is a good time song.
Watching this on its 25th anniversary I feel 7 years old again happy times
my friend met them before thye were famous and got their cd and played it on a loop in our flat, allday and all night haha
Man, the Spice Girls have a incredible backlog!
The girl in the green top (which sings the lead) is Mel B. 💚
Spice Girls 💖 90's nostalgia right here lol I owned one of the clear spice girls bags when I was kid.
Stop is also another good song by Spice Girls.
They exploded onto the pop scene in 1997 and took over the world cause they had so much personality & energy. The whole Girl power thing they created is still huge catchphrase today so they made a real impact for feminism. They also had NINE #1 songs in the UK.
Omg this song always on the radio nonstop
Please react to: Spice Girls: -Stop -Say You'll Be There -Thanks!!!
I agree on these two 100%!
You should react to Say You'll Be There from the Spice Girls, it's more grown up and more R&B and all i'm saying you need to see Geri/Ginger Spice in that video :D
Do "Who do you think you are" by Spice Girls! I think that you will like it because it's super upbeat
Spice Girls were great for late 90s with all the 5 member boy bands... Backstreet Boys, NSync ... the girls each had a “ personality”, Baby Spice, Scary Spice, Posh Spice, Ginger spice Sporty Spice. My son was 12/13 and that is how he described them. People were brutal about their singing ability... I think they are great as a group!!
and not to forget the amazing irish band westlife-flying without wings..was once voted the best song of the year
Seriously. if Jayvee is doing Westlife then it has to be "World Of Our Own" or "When You're Looking Like That." Absolute bangers.
@@jackdubz4247 yess! Agreed! The flying without wings is actually a soft spot one for me as it was my nans fave song, but would love to see those reactions too!
Emma Bunton AKA Baby Spice (the blonde one) had a music career in the UK after Spice Girls, and her music is nothing like this. It's really good. My dad happened to come across her 2006 album when he was browsing music online at around that period of time, and he listened to it a lot. The songs have a jazzy feel to them, which is what appealed to my dad. I haven't heard anything from her since then, though, so I'm not sure if har current music has the same sound.
I agree, her solo music was a revelation. She's currently a radio host in the UK. Other than the reunion tour they did (was it 1 or 2 years back) I don't know if she's still releasing music.
I was a huge Spice Girl fan at around 8-12 years old ^^ Of course, in our school class we did the Spice Girls for Karneval (a costume-"holiday" where I live) and I was Ginger Spice because of my hair colour. The Girl Power-vibes were strong in the 90s XD
Spice Girls are solid. Check out their 2nd single, "Say You'll Be There"
I was obsessed with the spicegirls back in the 90s
Song is about Wolfgang Amadeus Motzart the Austrian composer
More Spice Girls!!!!
The spice girls were big in Europe in the second half if the ninetees and actually the first casted „girl-group“. Wannabe is definitely not only their breakthrough, but also their greatest hit. However Mel C (the „sporty“ spice) is still successful in her solo career. (She had a famous duett with Brian Adams: „When you‘re gone“) As far as TLC is concerned: i remember their 98 hit „No scrubs“, killer Video!
So many songs.. Spice up your life; Say you’ll be there; who Do you think you are; Never give up on the good times
Yeeesss!! Spice Girls were my jam in the 90s. I'm old lol.
The Spice Girls were my thing when I was 13. I loved them. They’ve all had solo stuff released. You should react to some of Geri Halliwell’s (Ginger Spice) songs. They were the best. “Bag it Up” is special
I was about 14/15 when the Spice Girls arrived. I had a huge crush on Geri and Emma.
Amazing. Takes me back to the early 90s. Thankyou.
this man about to react to the national anthem next lol
The African American lady is Mel B. She has been on America's Got Talent as a judge and she has a child with actor/comedian Eddie Murphy.
She's English, not American. Both in Yorkshire, North England.
@@jakesauntie1, Omg, you are correct. I'm so used to the fact that we say African American over here. Of course, she could be a citizen of the US now, I'm not sure. Thanks for the correction.
@@mamamac70
Eddie didn't treat her too well tho did he. Point blank refusing the baby wasn't his & dragging her name thru the mud making out she was sleeping around. Girl stuck to her guns & then the DNA test came back confirming she was telling the truth.
@@jadecawdellsmith4009, Yea I had read something about that in the tabloids. I was just making the point that Mel has went on from the Spice Girls to make an independent name for herself.
Oh man, when this came out and I was in middle school I had the biggest crush on them. This song is an ear worm, once you hear it plays in your head over and over. Very catchy.
Omg these girls took the world by storm!! They had a cult following, like a serious fandom. And for good reason, each one is more talented than the next, for real.
Mel B just got kicked out of The Masked Singer in the first round....she was considered a worse singer than an out of breath retired ex footballer!
Scary that this was 25 years ago. They were huge. My fave is “Holler”.....completely different vibe, a few years down the line from Wannabe, more grown up and polished.
Lovely lovely! Your reactions of music of 80s super groovy
"Spice up your life".... "when 2 become 1"... "saturday night" are some other good songs of theirs
I'm not really a fan of Spice Girls, but I like this song. Back in early January of 97, I had a bad car accident. While I was in the hospital, seeing this video on the tv helped keep my spirits up.
Mel C (Sporty) did a duet with Bryan Adams called "When You're Gone"... worth a listen.... same thing with Geri's (Ginger) solo work... she did a good cover of "It's Raining Men"
I grew up jamming to Spice Girls songs with my sister. Such great nostalgic vibes.
I recommend you to check out "Viva Forever" (calm and beautiful with a bit weird music video), "Say You'll Be There" (my childhood favorite music video because I thought it was the coolest) and "Spice Up Your Life" (another great song with a good fast beat like "Wannabe").
After the group went their separate ways, Melanie C the one who did the backflip in the video came out with her own song called I turn to you!! Would love to see you react to that!!!
