The ones who say that the space wolves are innocent in the burning of prospero just because Horus gave them wrong orders are all idiots. Leman Russ despised his brother simply because he was a smart man, and did not sacrifice his troops in an frontal assault but instead used cunning strategies and sorceries to gain the upper hand. You don't send a pack of rabid hounds on an escort mission. Russ was just waiting the order to exterminate the Thousand sons, and even after sending his whole legion to attack Prospero only 1/3 of the legion survived "Knowledge is power, but power is nothing without purpose. You may hold in your hand the power to remake all things, but if you do not know what you would change, then you hold nothing at all." - Ahriman of the Thousand Sons
Then you can consider me a so-called 'idiot' then more or less. Leman Russ did despise his brother for what he saw him as - A sorcerer. A witch. Someone who abuses their gifts. He never knew better - for he was practically raised in a culture where nature is the call of the righteous, and the tethering of the unnatural is to be hated, and for very good reason too! Magnus grew up in a society of Psykers, where there are no real limits, where the quest of power was mistaken to be that of knowledge. In the end, Magnus and his Legion's veiled arrogance lead to their downfall. Those psykers that fill the ranks of the Vlka Fenryka (Space Wolves, to the uninitiated), and those tribal shamans knew better - they shun the quest of power, and sought their answers only from the spirits of nature. It may be hypocrisy, due to the obvious lack of knowledge that all psykers draw from the warp - But the very careful observance of their own powers is what seperates the shamans from the Psykers of Prospero. If it where not for Horus deliberately playing a dirty trick on Leman Russ like that, Leman Russ would have followed his father's order to the letter - and there is more than enough evidence to back this up; Pack Mentality. Leman Russ was defeated by The Emperor. Leman Russ commands the Vlka Fenryka. If you consider the Vlka Fenryka to be the pack, then the Emperor would be basically the Alpha Male - and it is this same pack mentality which makes them so dangerous. They are so loyal, they are willing to do work that no other Legion would do - if commanded to do so. They were theorised to have destroyed one of the missing Legions at the Emperor's Command - and this has become a widely accepted theory. If you took all these facts into account, if it where not for Horus and his dirty work, Leman Russ would have followed his orders - and escorted Magnus back to Terra, along with the Sisters of Silence that had tagged along with him for the mission. The Thousand Sons and the Vlka Fenryka - these two tragic Legions, ultimately loyal to The Emperor himself, clashed and the mounds of bodies and the pools of blood ultimately covered the foundation of this deception. Magnus was at fault, for having broken the edict of Nikea, and Leman Russ was at fault for jumping to conclusions too easily. Then again - who, without the Psychic gift, could have ever foreseen The Warmaster's downfall? My stance and conclusion is thus - They are both innocent, but they are both at great fault - and the damage has already done. There is no fixing it now, and there will probably never be any fixing of it. Also, READ PROSPERO BURNS AND THOUSAND SONS FOR PITY'S SAKE. They will straighten the facts for you easily.
No one questions the fact that Russ would've followed his orders to the letter. The problem is the readiness to destroy and entire Legion of Emperor's Space Marines and kill his brother that bothers most people. There is a reason why it had to be Russ. The likes of Sanguinius, Dorn and Vulkan would try to contact Terra and plead for the life of their brother. Russ just went into savage mode. The Emperor is perhaps the one most at fault for not informing Magnus of the "project", considering everything. Khan was told, the same should have been with Magnus, but then there would not have been much of a story. Also, as far as I'm aware, there is a theory that two "lost" legions were added to the Ultramarines. Which really makes sense, 60% of the existing chapters today are succesors of Ultramarines. Even with their higly stable gene seed and low casualties during the Heresy, 60% is a bit much for just one progenitor chapter.
The Thousand Sons will always be my favorite traitor legion because 1. They follow my favorite Chaos God and 2. They didn't really want to fall to Chaos but they pretty much were forced to. I feel really sympathetic for them.
Brother You have burned Prospero damned my Legion and destroyed everything that I have fought for. Know now that I do not only fight to avenge Prospero but to redeem myself for not fighting for her in her hour of need. On this day the souls of Prospero shall sleep well knowing their murderer has met justice on this day you will pay for your ignorance on this day my Legion will get the revenge they deserve. On this day the Emperor loses another son so come brother now and forever let us end this
The Great Lord of Change has spoken to me about our ancient tradition of Democracy. I am going to spread this noble ideal within the corrupted Imperium.
If Magnus returns.....he would attempt to challenge Tzeentch over possession of the Thousand Sons.....The blood ravens will definitely support Magnus if he is truly their primarch...
I have returned. Now this galaxy shall know the true face of vengeance as I hold the Wolf Kings head atop The Fang. DEATH TO THE FALSE EMPEROR!!! DEATH TO THE SPACE WOLVES!!! LET THE GALAXY BURRRRRRRN!!!
@KirkGaming By the time of the attack Magnus had realised his mistakes and amends could yet be made. He ordered his fleet away and wanted his sons not to fight, but could not bring himself to order it. Horus and the leader of the custodes (both for their own reasons) manipulated Leman Russ into an all out attack of total destruction rather then arresting magnus.
@TheFirraveusCarron the story behind the thousand sons is that they peered into the warp and discovered the horus heresy before it happened. when they went to warn the emperor, he saw that they got the information from tzeentch and sent Leman Russ to bring the primarch back for interrogation. Horus convinced the space wolves to destroy the thousand sons homeworld which made the legion turn to tzeentch at what they saw as the greatest betrayal possible by the emperor
Sorry, if I understood something badly, bad Space Wolves didn't betrayed them. It was work of a Warmaster Horus that Emperror's order to capture the Thousand Sons Primarch arrived as an order of extermination. Space Wolves were just badly informed. Sorry for my English
"Do not ask which creature screams in the night. Do not question who waits for you in the shadow. It is my cry that wakes you in the night, and my body that crouches in the shadow. I am Tzeentch and you are the puppet that dances to my tune..." The Thousand Sons only found their true calling when they bowed to the will of Chaos and came to serve the Architect of Fate. Everything that came before was only preparation for this glorious ascension.
Dont forget the Blood Ravens greatly possible being the descends of Thousand Sons. So when we will have a plot where Blood Ravens rencounter their brethen again?
Sorry, I was using wrong history. I red about this in lexicanum. So theese are the facts: Magnus, the primarch of Thousand Sons used dark magic to warn the Emperror from Horus. Horus was Emperror's most trusted servant, so He decided to destroy the spellcasters, because such magic was forbidden. Order of execution was send to Space Wolves. They attacked, killing many of their enemies. Magnus sent his planet into the warp. He escaped to the Eye of Terror and become to be Tzeeneh's servant.
@camau79 They most likely recruit battle brothers aswell, however their bodies aren't created to withstand the power given to them, therefore their bodies turn to dust, leaving their minds as one witv their suits.
@necronsoldier mmm its a really sad thing to happan to my favourite pre heresy/post heresy/chaotic legion (lol) the emperor shall pay as soon as magnus stops wheeping about it... he needs to have a talk with Angron! also do you know any good pre heresy books that can bring a person who has never heard of 40k into the story and not be confused lol cause my dad started reading a thousand sons and is like wtf is this, but he likes the idea of the whole thing so can you help me with this?!?! :)
I'm saying again, and stop arguing. Facts from lexicanum: Magnus, the primarch of Thousand Sons used dark magic to warn the Emperror from Horus. They attacked, killing many of their enemies. Magnus sent his planet into the warp. He escaped to the Eye of Terror and become to be Tzeeneh's servant.
@necronsoldier I thought the emperor sent The Wolves of Fenris because Magnus used his psychic powers, which the use of had been forbidden by The Emperor at the council of Nikaea, to warn The Emperor, but in doing so destroyed the Golden Throne and opened the Webway into the Emperors sanctum on Terra......
thousand sons constantly take powerfull psykers back home to the planet of sorcerors to make them into new thousand sons, so im wondering do they only recruit psykers or do they recruit pskykers and battle brothers
@97Macros that sucks.... death guard were so awesome... but with the death guard didn't typhus have a part to play with them turning into heretics? also i thought some loyalists got their name changed to the hawk lords (way after the heresy) also im just going to say the main reason i play as chaos is because the legions got tricked, they have good fluff and i want revenge against the false emperor
@Sariel111 isnt there only a few legions that wanted to side with chaos?? for example of wat im saying the emperors childrens primarch was possesed by a demon nd so nd so forth, but then i have to wonder why didnt the legion still want to serve the emperor if they were so loyal to him... if you could answer both questions that would be great :)
@necronsoldier Horus had nothing to do with the Space Wolfs attacking the Thousand sons homeworld. The Emperor himself commanded the annihilation of the Legion, and the arrest of their Primarch. It was because the Thousand Sons used sorcery and practiced it even after the Emperor commanded them not to do it. That, and when Magnus went to warn the Emperor about Horus's betrayel, he destroyed the Golden Throne, which is the main reason the Emperor left the Crusades.
Although nurgle is the better of the gods, I CALL YOU TO ARMS BRETHERIN OF CHAOS, DEATH TO THE WOLVES, DEATH TO THE EMPERORS FINEST, DEATH TO THE EMEROR!
@kubablaszka negative. russ was ordered to BRING magnus for explanation, but horus issued the order to destroy prospero. due to the horus's rank leman was obliged to do so. and heretics got another legion.
Why does he hold them responsible for what they did if he himself says :"...blinded by their hate and the deceit of Horus...", they were both(Magnus and Russ) manipulated.
Sorcery is forbidden, and everyone must understand, that when Magnus created webway to emperor's palace, it logically pissed Him off :) Leman Russ, despite his nature, should listened only his father. Not a Horus. Bring Magnus to the Emperor for questioning about his actions. That was all.
Actually, the reason why the Emp sent Russ to bring Magnus to him was because Magnus violated the edicts of nikaea (sp?). On the way there, Russ was swayed towards the destruction of the Thousand Sons by both Constantin Valdor and Horus. This, however, is now debated since The Oucast Dead came out, as there is some confusion or some such in the time line. At first, Magnus was going to let the Wolves destroy them. But his sons had a different idea and decided to fight back.
A lot of people arguing over who was loyal and who was not. >.> to set the record straight read Prospero Burns and A Thousand Sons, to get the whole story. Here is the short Version. Space Wolves = Loyal and actually DID NOT want to fight the Thousand Sons Thousand Sons = Loyal, tried to warn the Emperor but accidentally caused a warp rift on Earth (yes you read that right). All parties involved save Horus were tricked and played with by Chaos (wont spoil the names for those who want to read it)

I collect space wolves but these guys are making me change my mind
The Great Lord of Change has spoken to me about our ancient tradition of Democracy. I am going to spread this noble ideal within the corrupted Imperium.
EVERYTHING WILL BE CLEANED BY FLAMES OF THE TRUE GODS!!!
IMO the best army & only choice in Dark Gods...tried the others but time and again Tzeentch ALWAYS comes out on top
We will never see the towers of Prospero.
Now it's defiled, and all is dust...
If Magnus returns.....he would attempt to challenge Tzeentch over possession of the Thousand Sons.....The blood ravens will definitely support Magnus if he is truly their primarch...

Sorry for my English
Which is why I hate the Space Wolves, and Black Legion. That is also why Thousand Sons is the only chaos force I accept.
"Do not ask which creature screams in the night. Do not question who waits for you in the shadow. It is my cry that wakes you in the night, and my body that crouches in the shadow. Before they were betrayed by The Emperor and the Space Wolves, they were clad in Red and Silver with Gold Trims.
Yes by the way. Some informations include the Blood Ravens chapter with the TS.
Wait for someone to make a game where there are Blood Ravens vs Thousand sons then we'll have an interesting story
Dont forget the Blood Ravens greatly possible being the descends of Thousand Sons. So when we will have a plot where Blood Ravens rencounter their brethen again?
thousand sons word bearers and the iorn warriors r my favorit chaos marines
"Open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded!"
Amazing video!!! Good music, good images I like a lot your video, NICE JOB = )

@TheFirraveusCarron Cause it was the space wolves that destroyed the Thousand sons planet and were partly the reason for them turning to chaos
Cool video by the way :)
I'm saying again, and stop arguing. Facts from lexicanum:

Tzeentch needs to be the next president
Its okay..there there..its not all so fail in Chaos..i heard Slaneesh is giving free hugz...or that was Nurgle! :S
I realised that the Thousand Sons look very Egyptian.

y do the thousand sons have to fight the wolves always ALWAYS
i looked to the video title and think oh cool thousand sons but you may had to call it thousand sons & space wolves
Heresy FTW!

What's the song?
@KirkGaming Listen to necron and read or re-read around some as there is not enough character space to tell the story as i've tried.
is there any box with thousand sons from games workshop?
If you own Chaos space Marines you can buy an eight men upgrade set with a sorcerer from their Webstore.
Your comment is old, but let it be known that the Thousand Sons are back with nice plastic dedicated kits since about december 2017. They absolutely look awesome and it vindicates my decision to play them back when I started playing in 2001.
heh, interex had a chance to kill horus waay before he was tainted. not that they didnt try though.
-Magnus The Red
the thousand sons are the from the heresy tragedy. magnus in communitcating his father caused so much damage and death there was no choice, it wasnt intentional but the results caused so much destruction. they bloody crippled terra
@fuzzyhair321 which had not happend if mr. Emperor just told his one eyed son what exactly he was doing on terra >_
Arn't the Thousand sons blue?
They are blue and gold since after the Heresy since these are Tzeentch colours. During the Great Crusade they were Crimson and either gold or silver depending of the depiction with white spaulders. I also believe that before being reunited with Magnus, they were reddish grey instead.
let´s hate Word Bearers, Lorgar and especially that snake Erebus together brother...
WHY ARE THERE SPACE WOLVES D:
Inevitabilis Est Novo
the wolves lost half there legion on prospero they were decimated by a handfull of sorceorors and battle brothers the majority of the 1k sons were sent away cause magnus didnt want to turn traitor later on at the battle of the fang they slay the chapter master wipe out half of the space wolves and make it so the space wolves geene seed can never be fixed the space puppies are a dying legion
@TheFirraveusCarron cos they were the ones to kick the thousand sons' butt!
But it was Horus who betrayed them...cccc
In my opinion a kind of egyptian music would have fit better since that's what they are based on.
if they woud be sane they might care such thins

i know hot to pissed thousand sons fan boys... SPACE WOLVES!
@carlogwapo1234 Wow. I'm so pissed right now. I'm so pissed that I almost cared.
MAGNUS DID NOTHING WRONG!
