incredible work man. ive always hoped someone would start selling an 8bit drum machine could you explain whats going on under the hood? is it powered by a Yamaha sound chip or something?
Thanks for the kind words! Yes, this is essentially 3 Yamaha sound chips controlled by a central brain (an Arduino microcontroller) and with access to circuit bends via the buttons in the Warp Zone. The 8B8 accepts MIDI messages from almost anything over microUSB OR via serial MIDI IN, I particularly love using it with the Arturia Beatstep
It's entirely programmed by MIDI, it doesn't play preset loops at all (as configured). The firmware *could* be programmed to play preset loops, if desired.

Seeing as it's yam chips could it be modded like some yam boards to have individual outs for each instrument???
