isn't your soundfont the same as the SEGA genesis?

No, it's a soundfont using instruments from a sega genesis game. Each game had their own instruments. But old consoles don't just have midis with soundfonts, it's not how it works. Each game just has their own instruments.
Soundfonts are to make MIDIs sound cooler because the deafult windows soundfont is shit.

A soundfont is an assortment of selected sound samples assigned to a specific instrument each. The Sega Genesis used a sound chip that didn't play sounds* but rather worked like a synthesizer, meaning that it produced every sound in real time according to sets of instructions. Technically no game for the Sega Genesis uses a soundfont, but due to artistic and logistic reasons most if not all had a set of "instruments" (specific presets for the different valuables that make up the different sounds) that in practice gave a different and identifiable vibe to every game. So in this case, this video is using instruments from sonic spinball.
*A bit of a lie, the Sega Genesis *can* perfectly play sound samples with it's pcm channel, but it's not really what gave the console it's very characteristic sound. This chanel was mostly used for voice clips and percussion, and even for chords and similar stuff in games like Skitchin'. So, you could say that those sets of drums and chords, respectively, are soundfonts (and you'd be right), but again, the very metallic and synth-y sound of the console came from the chip's other channels.
A very exceptional case is the main menu music from the game Toy Story, where the developers managed, through some coding wizardry, to make a 4 channel player similar to that of an Amiga PC that produced a combined output only through the pcm channel. That player used samples, and in turn, a soundfont. But of course, it required most of the console's processing power, and that's why it was never used in-game, where all the music was produced by the other channels.
