- Located one hour from Madrid, the Toledo Training Command centre is one of the largest military training centres in Europe. Hundreds of Ukrainian civilians who have volunteered to head to the front are training there as part of the EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM), set up in October 2022. Spain is one of the EU's key training providers, having already trained 4,000 Ukrainian soldiers. FRANCE 24's Rémi Cadoret, Armelle Exposito and Bertrand Aguirre report.

They mean them to be civilians prior to this training, that they had to training beforehand. They also said the avg age was 40, that means for 40 years on average they were civilians, waking up walking their kids to school, their dogs round the block, worrying about coffee stops before work etc, not bullets, explosions, dismemberment, and death. That's what they mean by "civilians".
They mean people kidnapped from streets, bars, gyms, clubs.... (Civilians)
Recruits are the ones who offer themselves to enlist in the army
unwilling civilians that are being forced

A month is a common basic training duration. There is usually specialization training afterwards that takes more time. During wartime, training times may have to be shortened and programs condensed.
As the report showed, there was further training after the recruits arrived back in Ukraine.

It's important that these recruits get GOOD mentors at the very start and are treated well.. Never allow them complex actions alone also show them multiple weapons so they are secure in their ability

Basic training in my country Croatia was 4 weeks as well. Then 8 weeks special training for artillery, or tank battalion, or sniper, or just the simplest thing infantry. This is not training for being a pilot. Slava Ukraini! 💙💛

If I were to train these recruits, I would emphasize practicing the use of weapons and, especially in the first few days, military drill. Every soldier should learn to trust his ability to use his rifle and hit a target. They must also be prepared to obey orders without hesitation - this saves lives on the battlefield. By the way, I don't understand why soldiers carry those huge backpacks in battle. After all, it slows down movement.
Physical capacity is also important, and if they are going to sleep in camps it is logical that they carry backpacks.
I don't think they should be using 'real...' bullets!
how can you train soldiers in 5 weeks ? it takes atleast a year maybe more if specialized .these people will die sad but that's reality

How many weeks of training did the Afghans have against the Soviets?
@@DB433115k Soviets were killed, 90k Mujahideen were killed and this happened over a 9 year period. That war is not comparable to this one.

Look at the guys that just took Avdeevka, then look at these people. The DPR troops walking around Avdiivka last week were *carrying* a combat load that weighs about what that woman does. They put on a brave face; but I'm 100% sure that for every one of them, there are 1000 Ukrainians sitting in foreign lands who see this and say: "Good luck. You'll need it..."

Yeah, hundreds of thousands have died on both sides of the conflict. People are getting more and more angry at the other side so i'm not sure how likely peace is in the near future. A peace deal would save many lives, and who knows what the political landscape will be in either Ukraine or Russia in the next 10-20 years.
