It's all about how you practice. Not really what. I knew a dude who had only be playing guitar for a year and could do everything from jazz to punk to metal. Could shred for days, sweep, and tap flawlessly. Even talked about wanting to do a John Petrucci song but found out it took two people to pull off. Also knew another dude who had been playing for about a year and a half and was basically like a young Eddie. He would do some of those Tapping chord harmonics whatnot and a few other things. Probably helped that his dad was some stringed instrument seller of some kind.
Davie looks exactly the same after 9 years. He will still look the same in 150 years. He's probably an alien. That would explain the supernatural bass skills.

It’s very evident that Davie is more confident in his playing, you can see he’s not trying as hard to hit the strings, but he’s playing with much higher accuracy.
Dude, nice! Your younger self is technically competent, but doesn't have the same that feel you do now. It's almost like it's a heavily quantasized recording, vs a straight-to-tape recording by someone who can FEEL what they're playing. Awesome to see the progression of a musician :-)
