This was a great video for me as I'm slightly past middle aged but have a similar background to you with normal Drone Photography and wanted my first FPV experience....your first flight on the veranda was almost identical to mine accept that I was in the lounge!! Thanks for sharing and you have definitely spurred me on to continue my learning and training flights 🙂 Thank you.
Thank you for sharing this - very informative. It's very interesting to see perspecive of someone who does not have FPV experience. Now im tempted to buy one :)
Oh man I just got the mini 2 se last week my first ever drone and all I want to do is fly. Just getting use to the flying. I will upgrade one day maybe make the switch to fpv for my next drone but honestly cant wait for the videos I can while camping this summer. Up here in Canada we have very little restrictions compared to the US. Transport Canada is alittle more easy on our for fun recreational pilots.
I got mine a couple weeks ago. Watching your video... It was a replay of my own memories with it. DON'T Return it! it is a cool experience! Try to learn the manual mode you'll have so much fun!
@@JaredHoymanDrone Racing League or Liftoff I think they are the best according to many reviews. Currently I train only in DRL so I can’t say its the best since I didn’t tried yet other sims. Liftoff its quite expensive. Also use your new fpv remote 3 on these sims, using gaming controllers is useless
This happened to pop up on the TV just now. Sounds like you’re very close, we are in Allouez. I don’t recognize that park though. Just got this drone last week, but have been flying FPV for several years.
@@DeGrandCreativeSolutions we are practically neighbors. That’s Optimus park also known as miracle park on libal . Check out more of those vids. I flew in the Abby and in the cemetery.
@ just watched the Abby one lol. The wife flew over that Sunday night I think it was with the sunset after it rained all day. We get deer from there as it’s so close.
Ok, your intro was the best special needs intro I have ever seen. Your realization that flying a drone with a tiny sensor camera, at night time, was not the most brilliant move. However, you pulled it off with style... I love this stuff... As always, keep up the good work and keep'em flying. From the little red planet. 👽👽👽👽👽
The camera in the avata 2 gives you a better view at night then your own eyes. When it's so dark I can barely see anything, I still see more with the goggles on throug the came on the drone.
Be honest you dont need obstacle avoidance with the avata 2. Dji hit a home run with this drone, and its very durable. My first time taking it out i was good. Yes your confidence level will go to the roof
Jump on a FPV simulator before you go manual mode.. better to crash on a sim vs in real life lol, it will help with the vertigo and dizziness too. happy flying!
@@JaredHoyman uncrashed is THE best simulator which works beautifully on Mac M1 etc. On Mac Intel, you'll have to reduce the graphics quality but uncrashed offers you th best graphics. But, for the fav noob I am, it is so difficult to fly Accro - full manual mode. It makes me loose weight so much sweating I am having trying to fly the thing ! Best of luck and thumbs up for your videos !
Thanks for the real reaction to the Avata. Most other vids make it look so easy and mostly unrealistic. My greatest fear is spending $1500 CDN and getting motion sickness; how was that aspect of FPV? Also, are you worried about DJI's geo-fences?
I was concerned about the motion sickness too, but surprisingly that has not effected me. If you have done VR before I find this a lot less jeering than VR. Also, the refresh rate is 100hz and flying 60fps gives it a smooth motion in the goggles. I'm actually surprised how time just stands still while your flying. It's a very similar experience to VR where you are in one place, but you feel like your exploring other places. I just flew about 30min ago from my backroom on the couch where I took it around the outside of the house and through my front porch and into my garage. All without losing reception and control. It's pretty awesome! Thanks for watching!
Due to a nerve condition in my left hand, I'll never be able to fly acrobatics. The motion controller makes it possible for me to experience fpv. The avata 2 is my second fpv drone. The dji fpv is my first. Still love it.

@@JaredHoyman The motion control is designed to use in combination with the head tracking. It flies much more natural and allow you to fly in one direction while looking in another direction.
$1200 with the 3 battery fly more package. Otherwise basic is $1000. If you buy one get the fly more. 3 batteries is perfect. Not a bad price since it comes with goggles, drone, 3 batteries, motion controller and a great bag to store it all.
Video is great but really disappointed with the throwing around of "special needs", might be humorous or flippant to you but I don't think you have considered what many of us are living 24/7/365. Maybe you have, and that's your opinion anyway, and that's fine, but this is mine regardless.
The best beginner review I've watch so far, very encouraging, thank you.
You are welcome. Thank you for the encouraging comment.
oldguyFPV; I'm 72 and rippin everyday! Fly safe, fly free!

I think anyone interested in fpv now is the time to try it. Easier than ever.
FYI, you can use both the goggles and the controller with the Mini 4 Pro.
That’s awesome! I may have to pick one up. I wish it worked with my mavic 3 pro.
