- Calls are mounting for former US president Donald Trump to receive increased security following a second assassination attempt on Sunday.
Trump was playing golf in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday (local time) when a gunman was spotted by Secret Service as little as 300m away from the former president.
Former Labor MP Michael Danby said “surely they have to increase the level of his protection”, following recent events.
“Secret Service flunked the first assassination attempt. They fluked this one that they shot at the guy because they had a guy in a golf cart one hole ahead. But surely, they have to increase the level of his protection now,” he told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“So that, say, a perimeter of a golf course like that would be covered. So that's presidential-level coverage.”
I'm not seeing assassination attempts on anyone else. This is intentional.
