Hey Eric, here i am in 2021, love watching your old videos. You inspired me to move into a van many tears ago but I've been living full-time for 2 and half years now. I can't wait to hit the road more and see this beautiful country like you. Thanks for all your videos. 🚐👍
I'm originally from Wyoming, but live in Olalla Washington now. My hubby and I are planning on going full time in 5 years after retirement. We both really enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for sharing your travels and experiences on the road. If you are ever on my side of the Narrows bridge, feel free to contact us. We would love to share a meal and pick your brain about the nomadic life style. Take care now....
+Nomadic Fanatic even though you're pretty okay being single, and with Jaximus. I can highly recommend a "Female Buddy Heater", lol. Jokes aside, I'm glad everything turned out okay with those flames.
Now your talking, best investment I made. 1/10 the humidity issues. I have 6 batteries, furnace will run for days off batteries, look into a couple of Trojans. Will your alternator charge your house batteries? If not look into getting that option working.
After 14 years living near Salt Lake City, I was so happy when I moved to Kentucky. The cold in northern Utah was just brutal. I often suffer from insomnia, and tonight has been one of those wide-awake nights. Your channel is such a pleasure to watch and has helped me from being stir crazy. I have a cat that is a carbon copy of Jax, but she is female.
I've had the same Buddy Heater for about 10 years now. Every now and again the lines get clogged with oil even with the filter. I just take it apart, disconnect the lines, and blow them out with air. I usually end up replacing the $11 regulator too and that usually takes care of it. So don't throw your old one away because it is easily repairable.
Winter camping pro-tip: Crack open your cabinets and access panels so heat gets into those spaces, it'll keep your water lines and pump from freezing up on you.
Thankyou so much for this video! I love your commentry! And it is so good to see Jax! It was colder than it looked with that ice on your windows. Keep warm and take care xxx
The problem with the Buddy heater is most likely low vapor pressure in the propane tank if you kept it outside in the cold. The liquid propane in the tank is not boiling/vaporizing fast enough to provide a high enough pressure for the heater to work properly.
Am electric blanket is what you need. It will run all night on an inverter on very little electricity. No worries about wonky open flames while you sleep. You can run the heater before you go to bed and start it up as soon as you wake up.
As a business owner I speak from experience. On average, processing fees to the business owner are about 3% Of the total purchase. Add to that the additional accounting cost and the 3 to 5 day delay before the money hits your account and you have your reason for the up-charge. The clerk is there being paid regardless of whether you pay at the pump or pay the clerk. Keep-up the great work. Your video technique is evolving quite nicely.
buddy heater, when on a large LP tank a inline filter is needed to keep gas clean or you get junk in the lines and issues start . the small cans are filtered when filled. the big tanks can have trash in the gas due to constant refills.
I enjoyed that one Eric. My wife and I spent 10 years in Billings. Its kinda like home. Was going to mention, when boondocking in cold country, you really need to run your furnace without the extra buddy heater. That keeps the underbelly areas warm and prevents the freeze up of water lines. We have camped in Missoula MT at -18 degrees! It wasn't planned but when it happened on our way to Oregon we ran the heater and had no freeze ups. I have had frozen pipes at warmer temps when using the buddy heater. Thanks for your videos Man. We really enjoyed your winter!
i just did that drive from great falls threw billings then i90 all the way to lacrosse wi.. its a beautifull drive you should have went to devils tower
Always good to just see different places, weather and travel circumstances. Enjoy your videos. I guess it's armchair travel living vicariously but makes me think about things in a good way so definitely informational all about the Mr Buddy heaters, canisters, lines, soapy water check, not using the furnace too much..., besides just sheer entertainment.
Thanks again, Eric, for showing us the beauty of our great country. And, as usual, give Jax a big hug for me. You're getting close to home now. Where are we going next?
When you use a card, the business has to pay a fee for each transaction. For credit, it can cost the business up to 8% per transaction. We've been in business for many years, so it really costs us to take debit or credit cards.
Hi Eric, Sharon here from Maryland. 70 and sunny today here. Beautiful. I must tell you how much I enjoy going along with you on your travels. I think you are moving around more than any other RV'er that I watch on youtube and showing me so many states that I've always wanted to see. I am a retired lady who hopes to see the USA in an RV or van someday soon. Thank you, and Jax, for the wonderful enjoyment. can't wait for the next video to see where you are :)
I think you should live broadcast your whole day from the front windshield. I'm sure some of us stuck sitting at a desk all day would love it, I know I would have it streaming all day! I am living vicariously through you! Great videos. What a huge improvement in quality and professionalism from the very first ones.
Hi Eric, welcome to our summer home. We spend 6-months at the ranch 30 miles north of Moorcroft,Wy in the late spring-summer, then head south to the south west. We will be heading back up in two or thee weeks after a stop over is south eastern Utah at VOTG's. Happy Trails!!!
Credit cards require the merchant to pay a fee to the credit card company so they would rather have the cash so they don't have to pay the fee. They also don't have to worry about charge backs or fraud.....
I've been watching a whole heck of a lot of your videos the last few months since I found you. I got to learn what the term TROLL means. I have been investigating around yours and other videos about "those" kind of people. I just want to say thank you for all you do and putting up with the garbage of others. I really hate that people have to be the way they are. I personally enjoy every post you upload and I find myself checking every day to see if you've posted anything new. Keep up the good work Eric. I love Jax Man. Thanks for all you do.
There's a difference in cash prices because the station has to pay a vendor price on each credit transaction. They have to pay several cents for the right to use the credit service and that cost gets passed on to the consumer.
eric , when ever you used a external tank and use the hose, they sell a value that you hook the line too, then hook it to your heater. they are not for use with big tanks with out that value .
All part of the adventure. My experience with Wyoming and snow is that they don't use sand on the highways, they use fine gravel so it doesn't fly away in the wind which is always blowing.
the propane in the small bottles are much cleaner and cleaner burning than a 10lb or 20lb propane that you get filled at a gas station. It is a good idea to use a propane filter between the tank and the buddy heater usually at the end of the hose to the tank connection. It is an easy filter to install and just goes inline.
I have the large mr. Buddy Heater and I've never had any issues whatsoever with it. Also here in Ohio gas can jump 20 to $0.25 a gallon at the click of a finger and that's usually on a weekly basis.
The reason why in some cases it costs more to use your card than to use cash is because vendors are charged a fee for every customer that uses their card by the credit card company and now, some vendors want to pass that fee on to the consumer.
Credit and ATM cards; depending the processor and the card, small business' usually pay between 2 1/2 to 8% plus a transaction and approval fee. Great video, get away from the cold.
It costs the gas stations (and stores in general) more when you use a credit or debit card compared to cash. They get hit with a transaction fee when you pay by card. With cash they don't lose any money.
+James Agnotheist Yes, I was going to say this. There are different credit card fees depending on the card used...american express is the worst and my office stopped taking AE because of that. Any rewards card also, the retailer pays that reward, not the credit card company.
I know this is late but I just wanted to give a little info on the different prices. I've worked at gas stations before and the reason is the station itself is charged for giving you the option of using a credit/debit card. Some stations pass this charge onto the customer.
I love the interaction of you and your critter... I am in Sticks and Bricks and it's the same thing except I'm not on the road yet and when I do I will take him along
I tried a couple of the infared heaters that simply mount onto a propane bottle. Both would spit and then shoot a bunch of flames out. I returned the first one and got a second and it did the exact same thing a week or so later. I'm sure the buddy heater has better safety mechanisms in place but they still scare me. Have fun and be safe! (or just have fun)
The gas charge is ridiculous, with the whole cash vs credit. The store owner gets charged as much as 3% on purchases with credit and debit card is around 2.5%. It does suck but they compensate the bank charge by charging you extra for credit and or debit. Rock on Eric very cool awesome adventure you're taking! Love the videos
Happy 6th Birthday Jax!!! You're such a comical feline, your servant spoils you to death. When you were lost last summer you probably watched Eric from a distance and wanted him to feel what it's like to be left at the van! Smart kitty. Love your series, you both are a hoot to watch.
Hey Eric I was wondering if you've heard of the ALDE hydronic floor heating system, I know that you normally try to stay out of bad weather but this system is really awesome and consumes very little power check it out
+Jose Pacheco Not heard of it, but that kind of technology makes sense. You lose a lot of heat from cold air under the RV coming up. If it worked on DC power instead of AC, I might do it.
+Nomadic Fanatic you can chek it out here www.alde.se/usa/heat-technology/how-it-works/ www.alde.se/usa/ Don,t know what the cost is but the idea is really a great idea for RV,s

Eric, I'd be careful when traveling in cold weather with your plumbing. You could freeze and burst any number of plumbing items like water lines, pump housings, waste tank valves. Ideally you would winterize your plumbing when operating in those conditions and dry camp until the weather warms back up. Also another question. Don't your RV batteries charge off the vehicle alternator when your driving down the road? Your house heater can run all the time while driving and your battery will stay fully charged. As I said in another post, if you use the RV heater instead of the buddy heater your water pump and lines will he heated with the house heater and prevent them from freezing. Good luck.
Hey Eric, here i am in 2021, love watching your old videos. You inspired me to move into a van many tears ago but I've been living full-time for 2 and half years now. I can't wait to hit the road more and see this beautiful country like you. Thanks for all your videos. 🚐👍
Jax sure came to life when asked if he was hungry, he steals the show everytime.
Amadeo Flores Jr 😂
It is widely known that you pay more when using credit/debit because of bank processing fees.
I think next season I'll just upgrade to an Olympian Catalytic Heater.
+Nomadic Fanatic even though you're pretty okay being single, and with Jaximus. I can highly recommend a "Female Buddy Heater", lol.
Jokes aside, I'm glad everything turned out okay with those flames.
+Nomadic Fanatic You still may have the same problem unless you find a way to insulate you tanks and lines better to keep them dry inside.
Now your talking, best investment I made. 1/10 the humidity issues. I have 6 batteries, furnace will run for days off batteries, look into a couple of Trojans. Will your alternator charge your house batteries? If not look into getting that option working.
"You hungry?" papa asked. "You bet I am!!!" Jax answered. Ain't JAX SO ADORABLE?
After 14 years living near Salt Lake City, I was so happy when I moved to Kentucky. The cold in northern Utah was just brutal. I often suffer from insomnia, and tonight has been one of those wide-awake nights. Your channel is such a pleasure to watch and has helped me from being stir crazy. Wow, you are really making better videos. Today was a gem! Thank you for sharing a small spot for RVs to stop. thank you Eric
Loved Jax’s response when you ask “hungry something to eat”? Really love that cat of yours!
You finally made it to my state. I'm starting my own RV travel show and channel. I will be mentioning you as my inspiration.
When gas goes up in my town, it goes up 15-25 cents in one day, just like that. When it comes down, it's 2-3 cents in a week or so.
great film today . Billings MT looks beautiful
I laughed out loud when Jax reacted to you asking if he was hungry. That was awesome. He was sprinting back to the RV. lol
Thankyou so much for this video! I love your commentry! And it is so good to see Jax! It was colder than it looked with that ice on your windows. Keep warm and take care xxx
So nice Eric i can not believe how cold it is already Thanks again.
The problem with the Buddy heater is most likely low vapor pressure in the propane tank if you kept it outside in the cold. The liquid propane in the tank is not boiling/vaporizing fast enough to provide a high enough pressure for the heater to work properly.
Really enjoy your videos! Where you go, what you and Mr. Jax say to each other, just great content & info so many ways. Thanks!!!
Jax's response when you asked "are you hungry" was both cute and hilarious. Proof that animals do understand us :-)
You will need to get Jax one of those little wheat grass planters so he can get his ration of greens. Love that kitty !!!
Really enjoy seeing the country with you and Jax! Learn a lot too.
Drive safe,love watching your videos.
Am electric blanket is what you need. It will run all night on an inverter on very little electricity. No worries about wonky open flames while you sleep. You can run the heater before you go to bed and start it up as soon as you wake up.
That's probably a pretty good Idea there. I have gotten hooked on your video's! Thanks for all you do tremendously.

after a shit day dealing with crap humans this has lifted my spirits. thank you Eric and Jax. bless
Hope the weather gets warmer for you and Jax. Stay safe on the road Eric.

I am pretty much a dog person, but, what I like about Jax is that he is a talker. Very cool!
Thanks again, Eric, for showing us the beauty of our great country. And, as usual, give Jax a big hug for me. You're getting close to home now. Where are we going next?
we own a business and we have to pay 400 a month in card fees thats why cash is the king still my friend lol
Beautiful blue skies. i enjoy these trips.

Don't forget the Mr Buddy inline filter for it when you use the hose. Clogs up pretty quick without the filter.
I cant believe im binge watching Nomadic..
Are you hungry is the funniest thing ever. What a smart cat!
Anytime Eric. We all support you day in and day out. Nothing but motivation for you.
I've been watching a whole heck of a lot of your videos the last few months since I found you. I got to learn what the term TROLL means. the gas station gets hit for 3% on CC and Debit purchases. thats why they offer cash discounts
I was in Cody WY a couple years ago about the middle of June and woke up to 6 inches of snow on my rig.
Love it when ur videos are longer, keep'em coming!!! Thanks
thanx for the park info for Billings. should be there twice later this summer
@4:21 are you hungry, jacks did meow.. loved it so cute
I loved it when you told Jax "hungry", he turned around so fast and started running back to the rig. HAHAHAHAHA
Jax laid back, sitting "me-ow"... "Jax, you hungry?" MEOW!!! B-line for home! Funny! I want to meet Jax and squeeze him. I miss having cats.

eric , when ever you used a external tank and use the hose, they sell a value that you hook the line too, then hook it to your heater. they are not for use with big tanks with out that value .
Credit Card companies charge a fee to the vender. That's why it's cheaper to use cash.
great video, luv how Jax knows when you say, are you hungry

That's crazy! Calgary Alberta Canada was almost 90 degrees yesterday.
I sure wish I had the freedom to do this looks awesome man keep on trucking

Barb Cieri -Good information you shared here. Now I understand why a lot of businesses don't accept AE! I wouldn't want to either if I were them.
Another good call on the weather, nice break in Montana and a beautiful spot:)
Yes Billings , Been there but mostly visited Libby & Troy or go up the to Yack or Bull lake. Thanks for traveling for me..like seeing our great USA
Jax really is an awesome cat

Propane tank is probably freezing up. If you can get your hose and tank warmer somehow that may solve your problem.
lol, Jax, ya hungry? MEOOOOWWWW!! and runs for the camper! Kool cat.
Jax is the best and Montana looks great so far. Stay warm
Has been nice and warm here in Fla. dry too..
+Doug Lamp I heard. lol.
You make the BEST cat videos.Elvis was almost this entertaining.
Lots of people say we are headed toward a cashless society but I think cash is king!
YESSSSSSSS I had a super urge to see you throw a rock into he frozen water and then you did. My morning is complete.
I love the interaction of you and your critter... I am in Sticks and Bricks and it's the same thing except I'm not on the road yet and when I do I will take him along
I'm a new subscriber. Love your channel!
that was a nice spot at the end I would have explored that alot looks nice
Eric, thanks for the info in your vids dude. like the JAX.
current Maine weather ........60's ! we would of loved to meet you Eric and Jax ! maybe next year ! stay safe
