  • In this video I show how to change or replace the EVAP Canister Vent Solenoid on a 1999-2004 Ford Mustang. This is a top fix for the OBD2 error codes P0455 and P0457. I used the part from Standard part number CVS19 which is a compatible replacement for the original Motorcraft part number XR3E-9F945-AB (#4B106C1). I hope this video helps and you find it informational. Thanks for watching and don't forget to SUBSCRIBE! #ford #mustang #fordmustang #evap #robertsvideomachine

      I first got P0457 and the check fuel cap on the dashboard. I bought a brand new Ford Motorcraft gas cap and then got the P0455 and the check engine. I replaced several parts (EVAP Canister Purge Valve, EVAP Charcoal Canister, EVAP Hoses/Lines; you can see my other videos). I finally replaced the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor and the P0455 and the check engine light went away. I will upload that video soon, but was waiting for the P1000 drive cycle tests to go away. I have already driven more than 500 miles and it's still there, but at least no other codes 😊 Thanks for commenting, watching and don't forget to subscribe.

    Hey bud, I just had this same issue happen after a local shop installed a new gas pump. Um corps did this fix your evap leak code issue? And ate these issues related to or recent gas pump replacements installs?

      My problem started after an at-home mechanic changed my fuel pump/housing. I was trying to find the easy fix, but after taking it to a professional shop they told me it was the FTP Sensor. I have a video for that fix. Let us know your experience. Thanks for watching, commenting, and don't forget to subscribe.

    Good video! I'm replacing my canister and have no idea how to get it out of the bracket? Any suggestions as I can't get the rear two bolts completely out.
    Thanks for any advice!!

    • @RobertsVideoMachine
      @RobertsVideoMachine  2 роки тому

      Trying to do it while it's still on with the bracket will be a real pain and hassle. I would suggest removing the 2 bolts. If they're stuck, stripped, etc. Use the proper methods for removing stubborn bolts. If anyone else has ideas let us know. Thanks for watching, commenting, and don't forget to subscribe.

      @@RobertsVideoMachine Thanks for the reply. The gas tank edge won't let me get straight and flat on the bolts. Tried with a wrench but that's about impossible also. Tried with a swivel also but they're a pain. Not stripped but probably rusty inside that frame rail. I'll figure something out.

    • @RobertsVideoMachine
      @RobertsVideoMachine  3 роки тому

      No, my problems started after having a local mechanic replace the fuel pump. Not sure is changing gas can be attributed to this since I have always used different types and grades of gasoline. The problems started at 140k miles; I'm the original owner. Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe.

    I think this part maybe my issue or the purge valve up front. I have so much vacuum in the tank it is sucking it in about 40 secs after i start it, and releases about 5 secs after i shut it off. I can hear the tank bong and if the cars running when i take the cap off it dies( new and old cap). I had the valve under the pass front fender off tonight and lines are open has vacuum and line to the tank is open. So I'm not sure which part it is any ideas ? great video isn't much out there on this stuff so thank you

    • @RobertsVideoMachine
      @RobertsVideoMachine  3 роки тому

      I think that if you remove the EVAP Purge Valve and blow on one end, the air shouldn't go through (double-check online). I just ended up replacing both parts since the car had over 145K miles and I was the original owner so I knew they were never replaced. Let us know what tests you ran on both and to see what your results were. I have a playlist with all DIY videos for the 1999-2004 Mustang you might want to check out. @@RobertsVideoMachine Already liked and subbed appreciate the replay. After looking into it more today. My understanding is the purge valve up front should have no vacuum on the tank outlet when the electrical connector is unplugged from it and the engine is running. Mine has vacuum all the time so i guess its bad, I'm going to order one and will let you know how it goes.

    My only suggestion is to just disconnect the negative power cable on the battery instead of the plug in the trunk.
