      You will definitely need to get a hang of how we use the reticle to aim and fire (dispersion being what it is). Even a perfect shot can miss 100% BUT if you don't make those perfect shots, they will always miss because you led to far, or trailed. Or missed above or below because the other ship dodged. I don't mind missing most of my rounds as long as they land where the ship is. It's much better to blame the RNG than how I misjudged their speed, bearing and relative angle to my guns.

    5 things..... the first 5 minutes -
    Don't charge into 5 ships in your brawling BB.
    Don't try and cap in a 3 radar match till you know where all the radars are.
    Don't get stuck nose in till you see how many red ships are pushing a flank.
    Dont be giving broadside in your BB or cruiser to launch those torps that will never hit the target and losing half you HP or more in the process.

    • @wbRosario
      @wbRosario 2 роки тому +8

      Shift+X and Ctrl+X are two slightly different functions.
      Ctrl+X locks turrets in place and will NOT turn as you actively maneuver which is functionally identical to the RMB/free look mechanic.
      Shift+X will keep your turrets locked and trained on the location you were aiming at the time that it was toggled. This will cause your turrets to automatically spin while you're actively maneuvering. This variation of turret lock is huge when you're about to fire on a target that is coming to a stop in smoke or perhaps they beached as you lose LOS and then they go dark. Boom. Use this and secure the kill.
      In both cases, simply press "X" to disable the lock so that your turrets will spin into proper position.

    • @davidb3352
      @davidb3352 2 роки тому +2

      @@wbRosario I feel like CRTL + X is the more useful application... It's less about keeping your turrets locked into it's current position and more about turning them to correct one while you're free to maneuver/camera look. The best example of this is when you're changing course near the map border or you're setting up for a drive-by.

    #6: STOP IGNORING YOUR MINIMAP. Ctrl+ makes it bigger. Look at it all the time. Look at it at the start of the battle. Look at it after every salvo. Look at where your team's ships are. Look at where the enemy ships are. Look for where you might need to reinforce your team. Look for where you can outflank the enemy. Look for where you need to run the hell away from. Look for where you need to push into in order to win. All the information you can have is held within the minimap. Ignore it at your peril.

      A big failing of mine. Was having the best game of my life going down a flank in an Atago. I check the map and my whole team changed direction, the reds we’re pushing and I was all alone. 3 way crossfire.

  • @nathanapplegate5374

    Now that subs are a part of the game, here’s a mistake for each side to avoid.
    As a surface ship: do not immediately run when you get pinged or use damage control. The pings are a visible effect.
    Instead: immediately charge the sub by following the pings to the source. When you see a crescent shaped white effect in the water, you’ve found the sub. It will be right behind that crescent shape. If you have hydro, use it at this point, then use your depth charges.
    As the sub: do not ping too often or too much. If you payed attention to what I just said, you have concluded that the sonar pings, the thing everyone hates about subs is overhyped and a double edged sword because they give away your general direction.
    Instead: you are better off firing off your volley of torps, then turning around, avoiding pinging the enemy until the last second before your torps make impact.

  • @FluppiLP

    More ideas:
    Stop saying things like "ab" or "bc". It will give the enemy a free flank to flank you from and shoot your broadsides. You will lose
    If you spawn in the middle, stop running towards a flank, consider supporting the middle cap, especially when one of your DDs tries to cap there
    Stop ignoring your minimap
    Start counting the enemy ships on your flank and your ships on your flank and decide if you have an advantage or not. Don't push if you are on the weak flank, you will die

      @@boldfella8199 At least for bronze and silver I strongly disagree. When your team choose their strategie before anything is spotted or bad tactics are communicated, I would prefer everyone just splitting 50/50. That way I can adapt and support wherever necessary. I never type a single word in bronze and silver and win 64% on average. The dunning kruger effect is real and trying to overwhelm bronze players with such things as mapcontrol or avoiding lemmingtrains might even be harmful to your own winrate. I know I have a pessimistic view, but in practical terms it works for me :/

      AB BC actually not give free flank to enemy.
      Team who go AC are go on 2 separate way.
      If the other team go AB then AB can crossfire and demolish the AC teams A flank. After it, the B flank need to face to the enemy C flank alone, while they got support from A flank and take 2 cap at once.
      After that, one team has AB and a huge advantage, while the other team only has C and half of the team lost.
      9/10 times of my battles, the team who went AB or BC (Depending on the map) won the game, while the team who went AC just sailed around while one side lost.

    The most common mistakes I see (and I do them myself from time to time) is rushing to the middle/caps early on and getting focused fast, not reading the map on what each time and player is doing, and finally taking on poor fights (1v2 or more).
    Seeing players rush into die has to be the worst though, and it only takes one or two to cause enough of an imbalance in a flank to cause a blowout game. Every ship matters and you make more money/XP surviving as long as possible, even in a lost game.

    As a BB, large / heavy cruiser main, i like playing agressive, putting pressure to the enemy team.
    BUT, what most CQ players make as mistake is to push right away, always resulting in a early death. The trick is patience:
    Like for example when i play GK, GL, preussen etc, don’t push right away, fire from distance with your teammates. When a flank is exposed or there is a gap you can exploit, than push in. If the enemy DD are dealt with or far away from you, than you can be more agressive as long as you have island cover, absolutely NEVER sail in the open
    So again long story short: when you push, only do so when the opportunity is there and you know who you could encounter

    • @Swarm509
      @Swarm509 2 роки тому +5

      This guy gets it. An aggressive "pushing" play style doesn't mean hitting W key at the start of a match and going straight for the cap. One has to get some intel and see where everyone is going. One may want to push a flank but may be better off holding/fighting retreat and if you over commit at the start you will just die. It can be a fine balance though, too passive and you miss a good pushing opportunity or fall behind. Basically, read the the map and act accordingly.

    • @cavscout1739
      @cavscout1739 Рік тому +2

      Don't be the first ship the enemy sees :D But, if you're in concert with a team mate or two, take advantage of the guy being pummelled, and land your shells on his attackers. 10 out of 10 times, the attackers are not paying attention to incoming salvoes because they're focused on sinking the first guy they saw.

  • @Texas240

    Tip#1 for DD players, going past the 50/50 line (midpoint in the map or cap) is suicide. You're not only going to find a DD but also all the other unspotted ships coming up behind him, this is doubly so if you're already aimed in on by being located from the captain skill.

    When it comes to damage repair, I try not to use it when I'm near an enemy DD location. If there was a DD nearby my ship, behind the island, or inside a smokescreen, I try not to use damage repair until the DD is sunk. This is because it can use torpedos which cause flooding. Flood + fire = a very bad time. Even when the DD has been sunk, it might still have launched torpedos, so caution is needed.
    Always nice to have: with big battleships I always get the perks that make the heal and damage repair last longer/heal more. Especially for those that are suited for brawling, such as GK, Schlieffen, Preussen, Pommern. The perk that reduces the amount of fires might help as well, but I prefer to have better heals. One less fire seems a bit too situational.

    For New players I have always recommended that they play One Country, One Branch until tier V. Then switch to a New Country and a Different Branch. (i.e. US DD, GER BB, IJN CL ...)
    ONLY, once you have 6-8 Tier V ship, do you begin to push on. Doing only One Country-Branch to Tier VIII, then again switching. Again once you have lots (6-8 Tier VIII) then you can push towards Tier X and Superships.
    This doesn't mean you have to play EVERY Country and EVERY Branch, but you should have lots of experience in different countries and branches. There are some Branches that I still haven't passed Tier VII.
    Finally, you should push your Captains up with as you purchase new ships. Your going to be focusing on the highest tiers, so have your best Captain with them.
    Your other thoughts are good.

    • @Swarm509
      @Swarm509 2 роки тому +3

      Even in a BB Ranked seems to be the better place to game TBH. Smaller teams, tends to be closer matches with a lot of brawling, and while there are blowouts it is easier to at least farm damage/credits. Even with Tier 10 ships I was making a lot of money with a few games. I've had a lot more close, interesting, game in ranked then Random.
      Random battles are just blowout games almost every time that are obviously over very early and the next 5 to 10 minutes are just mopping up the remains. Not fun on either side.

      I prefer the smaller format of ranked too.
      Unfortunately, to get out of the trash fest of Bronze MM, I actually played BB, as a DD main simply because most of the BB just had no idea how to play a BB (don't show your side) and had no idea how to play BB in ranked (don't hide your guns behind an island half the match like it was a normal random).

      Yes, exactly. Most annoying players are 1) who play chat off, you usually not get help from them 2) who not shoot especially dds or cruisers and then ask help when under torp or HE attack. ... i did wrote hundreds times "kill dds, they spot us", but too often especially BBs like shoot only BBs. etc etc. Average players are not smart, in every tiers, what i played are 1-8, they are too often selfish individualists, team almost always win individualists, too many use same speed too long time and not turn often enough, then they are surprised they die fast.

    About the damage control party, i think if you play as a french bb you have to waste them much more because you just take heavy damages from fire/flood

  • @looker999997
    @looker999997 Рік тому

    CE is a must-have skill on most ships that can have it, unless your concealment is so bad for the tier (on a BB like, say, Fuso) that you just give up on concealment. Priority Target is also extremely useful on any gunship that has a citadel, and also run-and-gun DDs like the French.
    Another good tip is to disable AA on a DD, until you're actually spotted by a CV, unless it already knows exactly where you are. Especially at the start of a match with domination points, you can make it harder for a CV to find you by disabling AA. The key is P by default but should be rebound to something more convenient.

    Last point is always an interesting, also I am still curious if AR does not work on heal lost but healed (maybe patched and I lost track of it). My counter to this point is, having a few tenths of a second faster firing time at the cost of tens of thousands of HP or being alive when your team needs you, health is more important in the game. That said, this is from the point of view from a fairly aggressive brawl type player.

    • @meneldal
      @meneldal 2 роки тому

      Having tried in coop were you can yolo without much fear, healing will make you fire slower.
      However, another big reason for not healing is reducing damage taken. Unless I'm mistaken, you can exploit the damage saturation mechanic to reduce the damage you're taking (and also enjoy damage you can heal 100% off) and repair that, while if you had repaired earlier you'd have gotten more unsaturated hits so more total damage (good if you want to get that achievement though).

    If Conqueror eats a citadel, you heal 10%, so no, eating cits is the best way to make your Conq heal useless. Also, while indeed it is generally better to turn out in a ship, turning in (best at range) can actually work out, because most BB players with some experience will account for opponents to turn out, not in. If you can turn out again or go undetected or behind some solid cover before the next salvo is up, turning in can be a very valid option.

    My rule is Destroyers go for unaware/unsupported high value or opportune targets, Aircraft Carriers torpedo cruisers and Battle ships and bomb only Battleships, cruisers I use depending on thier armament but is better to play sneaky because of thier low health and high spotted range. Battleships should go for citadel hits on cruisers and battleships, in support of other ships, not too close so that someone is getting torpedoed, but not far away so that you are vulnerable to air attack. 2-4k radius is fine. The other thing is making sure your destroyer perks are failed towards not being spotted. Can’t hit something you can’t see, can’t react if you never see the destroyer turn away, that’s why Japanese destroyers are so powerful. I got 78k at tier 2 or 3 I average about 30 over all games

    Time In playing makes the biggest impact with a player , I say It takes at least 1000 hours before its like a normal routine,at 1,200 to 1,600 should know most everything from ships and using your ship for the best advantages or more . People at 500 hours are still learning . There are a lot of new players and you can tell. Hours playing Is the only way you can get better. And watch Videos. A new player cant even begin to understand without time playing. So to all the new players have fun put your hours In playing thats the only way to get good at this game. YOU will be surprised at what you can do at 1,200 hours playing. Me I have 5,400 hours , wait till you can picture or count when you shoot at ships at range but that takes time. So many things new players will unlock with hours playing. Boy are you going to be surprised at what you can do....Best of luck to new players.

    Be aware of the range of your equipment.
    Neither Radar nor Hydro has infinite range. Popping them right at the beginning of the battle or when you´re nowhere near a usefull position is a waste of that consumable and can cost you the match. You can configure the minimap to show the range of these consumables.
