This was an amazing episode--really inspiring and powerful. I also suffer with anxiety--specifically, social anxiety. Just commenting on a post like this can be nerve-wracking.
Ever since I was young, I wanted to share stories, but I was crippled by the fear of pouring my soul onto the page and putting it out there for other people to see. The thought of it sounded like traipsing through a busy mall naked.
Long story short, it's amazing to hear about creatives who routinely overcome their worries and anxieties and are successful. Thanks for this episode--it came just when I needed it. (And now I have another cool podcast to listen to!) :)

I absolutely agree with the dedicated writing space. I used to use my desk at home for a lot of fiction writing, but now I tend to use it 90% of the time for working at home on my day job. When I try and switch to writing fiction in the evenings or on the weekend, I find it incredibly difficult to get myself into that fiction writing head space at the desk I use for work. I find myself procrastinating. Thankfully I have a spare room I am going to gut (at some point) and make into a writing cave.

I feel like that with fiction. I have published non fiction with only the worry of grammar or spelling mistakes but I'm terrified to show my fiction :-/

you will never find a book with no typos in it :) use an editor and proofreader to minimize the mistakes and then get the book out there!

This interview touched me deeply! Two very sensitive women baring their writer sensitivities hit me like nothing I've felt for a long time. It was like an old lonely man waking between two young beautiful women and feeling confused about how he got there and feeling attraction to each/both and not knowing which way to turn. Deep feelings, confusion and the realization that something profound had awakened him from a long sleep. I realize that my frustration and confusion had gone away. I have written many manuscripts but never "hit the publish key. "Control+alt+delete" has just left my list of tools! My profound thanks to both eloquent and sensitive Authors!

Love the part on habits and making it so automatic that you have to choose NOT to write.

This is great! and you both come across as so kind, helpful and human ...real. We all put others on pedestals but it is both a relief and comforting to know that we are not alone with our anxieties and quirky habits or self doubt. Thank you. I will certainly try a few of those suggestions in my writing. I always start my day writing a list, now I've just added to it - buy a hat!

Like public speaking, most people never eliminate it-but regular practice enables them to manage it. I agree with Joanna.
