Greetings Sir I have just discovered your channel and this video. The title made me pause because I have a collection of Ficus that I find very challenging but rewarding to grow. Yes, I do find that getting the right pieces of their care in just the right order is the name of the game for each species in this genus and I am not typically a precise type of person. I have Tineke Ruby Altissama Lyrata Lyrata Bambino Audrey Shriviana Umbrella Varigated Weeping Ficus Elastica Melanie I keep forgetting that these are actually trees and therefore any troubles I face is part of the game. Your tips on getting a bushy pot are very appreciated. I will be returning for more information on the other genre in your impressive collection.
The Lyrata bambino is still growing next to a north facing window, but slowly. Might have to move it closer to a brighter window, but I know Ficus don’t like to be moved. The Teneke continues to grow very well but only the one stem. I think I will take the risk and chop the top off again to encourage branching.
Hi Bruno 💫 I came to this video from your selection because I’ve just gotten a baby Ficus Burgundy from a friend. I also want a Benjamina but we will see how this one gets along. I am a soil free home and only use Pon. In your opinion will this be ok? Mostly mine are all in self watering but I’ve different views on water for the Ficus species. Any info is appreciated. Thanks for always providing helpful content. 🙏🏻💫
I only have one ficus in Pon, the Umbellata/umbrella ficus. It is doing well since I moved it from soil. I let it dry out a bit before adding water to the reservoir. As far as I know ficus should do well in Pon. All my ficus are close to a south facing window and get a lot of bright light. Ficus can be finiky, once you find a spot they like, don’t move them, apart from rotating the pot if the plants start leaning towards the light. I had a Benjamina a long time ago, but eventually it started losing leaves and died. Perhaps I just didn’t find the perfect spot for it. Good luck with your ficus, they can grow to be great feature plants!
@@tropicalsupnorth6658 Thank you so much. It’s thrown a little hissy since my original comment but I’ve only lost one leaf so hopefully it’ll work itself out and be happy or I’ll try and find it a better spot. Oh what we do for our plant babies. 🙏🏻💫
