The fact that this wasn't even planned and he managed to spit out many facts about the blue whale is truly amazing
That's a 'this is this my moment to shine, alright a lifetime of whale facts don't you dare fail me'. X-D
@Gothen Mosphars let’s be honest though he prolly has facts for 100s of different types of animals cause that’s all he does and is passionate about, he does a thing called deadly 60. You may have heard it
@@AngelEmfrbl tbf he has a lifetime of facts for most animals
"Blue whales are big!" he basically said
I wonder if he talked in his sleep?
The journalist’s tone just made me smile. I appreciate his enthusiasm and directness on how humanity effects the livelihood of whales 🐳
His names Steve bachshaw I think,he’s been working hard for at least 15 years now,I remember watching him as a kid on the kids channel in the uk and probably the reason why I love to watch nature docs,he’s a really inspirational person and has made some excellent documentaries I’d recommend checking him out
@@LD-bj4xc yes the show I watched him on with my son was called Deady 60. The man has a wealth of information on animals and his enthusiasm on the show is similar to Steve Irwin.
@JJ Sundra Are you trying to convince people of your opinion?
True. I also pray the save the whale programs continue to be successful.
It would be a total disgrace to humanity should they get hunted to extinction. We need to continue efforts to keep giving them a safe place to live. It was so cool the way that one whale just showed up. It's almost like he knew those people were there to give him help. I'm rootin' for the best.
At 0:47 it really seems like homoeroticism could save the oceans..!
Truly extraordinary. The thing that truly makes this is the reporter being genuinely excited about the blue whale. He knows enough facts about it that he can ramble while making every factual point and statement. Very cool and very unique. Nicely done and extraordinarily beautiful
Most genuine realistic factual & rational excitement I've ever heard from a reporter. I bet they had to tie him in to keep from jumping over the side.

Steve Backshall, uk’s very own answer to the legend that was Steve Irwin. Both so passionate about what they do. And both clearly fabulous human beings.
I’m a proud Aussie and I could hear that same deep love on this guys voice that Steve Irwin had
I saw him in Waitrose
Crikey!Steve Irwin was an idiot!

I will have to agree with you on that.

Right!
Absolutely
Brilliant moment for this dude! I can absolutely appreciate and understand his excitement in that moment!
He has one of the coolest jobs in the world right now...
The next generation of Attenborough!
+Tim Senna Hmm, I beg to differ. James May, Hammond and Clarkson have the best jobs
***** Not any more though ;)
Tim Senna yeah all he needs to do all day is swim around and look big
You mean the Blue Whale?... yes, a very cool job. 😁
The point where he shoves her is great, not the shove but the obvious looks of delight on both their faces.
I know ! When he shoved her i was thinking buddy what are you doing! He was so excited!!🤣👍
I still wanted him to get her reaction, too, though. But I guess he can be excused seeing as he regressed to about 8 years old..
Would’ve loved the wide angle, too, but again - live tv - and exciting to hear this story.
He puts his hand on her shoulder...
*Normally interviews a random woman.Briefly spots a blue whale, immedeatly starts performing a biology exam*
🤣
What a THRILL!
"A creature that we hunted so 99% of its number has disappeared" this has to be the saddest and most shameful line I've heard
Agreed. Humanity has such a capacity for evil and destruction. At the same time, (and thank goodness) we also have the same capacity for love and compassion and empathy.
Its actually mad to think that something bigger then the largest dinosaur that we know still swim in the oceans in our time, imagine what else is lurking in the depths
+Srib theres always a bigger fish....
+TheWesnik I have a bad feeling about this
You've woken then hive!!
+Srib godzilla where are you hiding big boi
+Srib An honest politician
Some summers ago, I read an article that stated the krill were appearing in staggering numbers in the Santa Barbara Channel, in southern California and the krill had attracted a significant number of humpback whales into the channel. So I booked a whale-watching tour on a catamaran sailboat, which sounded like more fun than a big diesel boat, and better for not annoying sea creatures. We did not see a single humpback whale that day - but were surrounded (literally) by blue whales, feeding on the krill. The sailboat idea turned out to be a winner - we had a big blue swim alongside us at a distance of less than 20 feet while we all pointed and stammered.
That sounds like a once in a lifetime experience to treasure!
Upload video to YT please
@@fionatanzer5270 it was - my chances of seeing another blue whale are pretty much zero.
We went to Baja Sur six years ago when I was pregnant with my youngest. Went on a couple of whale watching trips. The first we saw hundreds of gray whales, and a mama and baby spy-hopped right next to our boat and I got to pat them each on the nose. 😍 Then the second tour we were surrounded by at least a hundred blue whales. You don’t want to get too close to those ones, though, they’ll capsize your boat. Such an amazing experience.
Amazing! I'm a UCSB aquatic biology alum, do you remember what year that was?
There was 2 wonders here. The magnificent blue whale 🐳 and Steve's presentation skills. He just saw something probably he been dreaming of his whole life. Anyone would be like either in awe, cry or scream in excitement. I for one would be speechless or start uttering full gibberish. Steve manage to give us all these facts and present in a way that gets everyone excited. Hats off Steve!
Nature will bounce back if humanity gives it a chance
+David Good nature is still all around us as well as all around where no people are. But the world has been built giving certain animals we killed off a slight chance to return back to normal. Many animals have been brought back and are back in huge numbers, because like you said, we gave it a chance. But many of the animals we killed off have no place to live anymore except for small regions. The wolf in europe is a prime example. Outside of densely populated regions in a few countries like Russia, the few that have been released or roam into southern europe either disappear or starve due to a lack of food/wild animals for it to eat because we have covered most of the areas with communities of people. So for some aninmals you are right, but for many they have no chance of survival in the wild anymore.
John John Humanity does not have the right to make one species extinct
+David Good I mean we technically do, but we won't survive if we keep killing species off as fast as we are

Some people will learn that you cant eat money
Purple Fuzzy you technically can
Love this guy's enthusiasm. Reminds me of Steve Irwin. Everyone should be this passionate about at least one good thing in their life.
I remember watching his Deadly 60 show on CBBC Back in the day
Best show of my childhood by far

+Ginsidious The memories OMFG
Wtf "Back in the day". It was less than 10 years ago. How old are you
Gotta love the lady’s reaction too. She wasn’t offended at all that she got interrupted, she was just so dang ecstatic to see the whale. :)
the undertone is a desperate plea for people to see what a difference one generation can make to an eco system in bringing hope and letting life flourish in all its forms. has made me tears.
Steve is such a sweetheart when he's excited 🙈

How lucky we are to be able to just click on YT and see extraordinary things that most people in human history couldn't even imagine. We're priviledge and have the responsibility to pass on the world as unspoiled as possible to future generations.

Keep the Norwegians and Japanese from slaughtering whales for their dinner plates then maybe these mammals will have a chance

There are FOUR countries that still hunt whales, NOT JUST TWO.
JAPAN
NORWAY

(EDIT: CANADA*)
* Denotes countries which allow certain indigenous groups a certain number of whales each year.
END ALL WHALING! We shouldn’t allow the hunting of creatures whose intelligence rivals ours....
