I frequently get lost in Autumn Leaves. It's all so diatonic that I can get 5 bars on before I realize I skipped the 2nd A section, or something. Any tips for not getting lost on tunes that are very repetitive?
Thank you for the comment. Play the melody and play the arpeggios up and down. And do this within the 4 beats of the bar with good timing. Do not skip beats - then you slowly learns the 4/8/16 bar periods of time.

I lose the form if my rhythmical aspect of my improvising gets ahead of me not so much the notes.
Does this mean you play too many poly rhythms or how should I understand this?
@@sorenballegaardmusic I think he means he loses the ‘one’ and thus can’t figure out where the progression should be.
