Can't tell you how many videos I've watched testing silicone verses none. For some reason, after watching yours, I decided to test it. I had 3 canvasses I wanted to paint over. So I did all without any silicone. I got cells like I've never gotten before! And all the new paintings came out great! Thanks for doing this. :)

You experiments help save me a lot of paint and also to know what to buy for pouring mediums. Your humor and honesty is so very rare. Also you take the stress from me by you just being you. I have already got my Mont marte paint and waiting for the clear glue to get here and then I'm going to do my first swipe. I'm really excited to get started. I also have shared your videos to my friends and to myself so I'm sitting on ready. Thank you my friend for all you do. I really hope you read this so you will know just how much you are truly appreciated.

I so appreciate your honesty! When you try a technique that another artist used, you always give them credit. Not all artists do that. You are so creative and have such a lovely positive attitude. I've learned so much from watching your videos! So tragic about the fires in your beautiful country. Praying for your continued safety and that the fires will soon be out.

PS Gilly, just some history about this technique you probably already know, but what the heck here it is anyway. When artist David Alfaro Siqueiros first discovered his “accidental painting” technique in the 1930s, the simplicity of the process coupled with its elaborate results riveted him. Siqueiros simply poured different colour paints onto a wooden panel, allowing the different colours to spread, coalesce, and infiltrate one another.
Black paint, for instance, tends to be less dense than white paint. Consequently, Zenit and Zetina found that pouring white paint onto black paint would lead to the desired mixing. Black on white, however, would not. One of Siqueiros's student in his experimental lab in New York was Jackson Pollock. Siqueiros was experimenting with the new paints, acrylic. Otto Röhm invented acrylic resin, which was quickly transformed into acrylic paint. As early as 1934, the first usable acrylic resin dispersion was developed by German chemical company BASF, which was patented by Rohm and Haas. The synthetic paint was first used in the 1940s, combining some of the properties of oil and watercolor.PPS: Try and find MelyD.artist she never uses silicon, however she places the paint on the canvas then moves it very fast..time lapse camera shows the cells formulating as you watch them....There is also an another artist in Canada Elysia fortu( oh I cannot spell her name, but she also does not use silicon to the best of by knowledge.

Dear Gilly, I use Mont Marte PVA craft glue 1 litre bottle. Dries clean and non-toxic. It cost me $8.00 for 1 litre, although from another store not the one I have on Mount Tamborine it could be cheaper again. Works well for me. I have no idea how much the other Mont marte cost, but this is cheap. I also have floetrol to experiment with as well...Cheers from Mount Tamborine Gold Coast Hinterland.

You can suspend the cord around you neck or sholder if it's long enough..ach to your tabl... thats what I do or devise a hook that you can suspend from the ceiling or clamp on to your work table... it does'nt have to be in the way while you use your tool. The end results is Perfect..... it WORKS !!!

Thanks for this Gilly as I am not a total fan of cells and was wondering if there was a way to pour and not get cells or at least a minimal amount of cells. Not so much with swiping but something like a dutch pour for a beach pour I did not really want a whole heap of cells, I will definitely give it a go to try all paints of same brand with just the glue and water PM. I have heard using a pearl/metalic paint of a variety of different brand paints will cause cells to will have to test that theory out.
