Let me know where I should go next, or what to try next!f
I went on Coast Starlight from Tacoma to Sacramento 2 years ago. In my opinion, it is the 2nd most scenic route on the Amtrak fleet, only behind California Zephyr. I would love to ride this again, all the way from Seattle to Los Angeles.
indeed it's an amazing ride! You missed the best part, which is the three hours that it goes by the water, San Luis Obispo to Oxnard 🙂
Thanks for another enjoyable video. I like that this was narrated, and I'd look forward to more narrated videos in the future. Can't beat the train for scenic travel. If you have the time, it could be a great experience to see new sights.👍
Most Coast Starlight videos are northbound, so I enjoyed, EXCEPT for the loud background music. You are soft-spoken, so if I bring up the volume to hear the narration, the loud music comes on. I am watching this video on my MacBook Pro.
Looking forward to taking the C.S. in summer 2025. Enjoyed your video!
It’s not a seatbelt but harness to prevent you from falling on to the floor if your roll over too much on the top bunk, the 2 straps hook into the celling.
Fun! I’ll be on the Coast Starlight tomorrow. Thanks for this!
How was it? I may book for this month. $1600 ?? That sound about right round trip L.A. to Seattle?

it does, but it sounds like you just booked a seat? It is much better to get a Rommette or Bedroom. You're going to be on there for 36 hours one way and 72 if you do a round trip on the train. 😲
With the roommette, you share a toilet and shower with others who have a roommette, but you still get a little room to yourself, and a bed. Also, three meals a day, cooked by a chef, are included. 🙂
(if you get just a seat, I think you can still get the chef cooked meals but you have to pay separately for them. 🙂)
@@neutrino78x There's 3 room options. Roomette~$800, Family~$1400, Room~$1800. The 'Room' is the only one with a shower and toilet in your room (no sharing).
Took me awhile to figure why the cost difference. But yeah, that long of a trip I would definitely get my own room. And you're right, meals are included which is nice.
@@ericcarson342 oh 1600 never mind I read it wrong. 🙂
@@neutrino78x And this is one-way. It's hard to compare this to flying to your destination. Because part of the experience is the view and riding on a train. It's definitely a splurge. I'm thinking of doing the full room (with shower/toilet) and flying back. But they give you a big discount if you book a round trip (it would not be double). The family rooms and roomettes get booked up real fast.
Amtrak roomettes are a bit tight for two passengers, but for someone traveling solo, it's just fine.
That wasn't the Meyer lemon cake you showed, but the butter cake. ;-)
Your thumbnail has the starlight going up the coast.
I went on the Coast Starlight northbound in January and then SEA to CHI, in economy, the Los Angeles route was not running for some reason. It started at Emeryville and went north, passengers coming from LA had to take a bus from San Bernardino to Bakersfield and then take the San Joaquins line and transfer at Sacramento or Martinez.
Great video very informative. To confirm, you can eat lunch and dinner in your roomette but not breakfast? I guess you go get snacks (pay) from the cafe car, or stock up on snacks from the metropolitan lounge. Hubby is traveling solo for the first time and is super shy, so community eating is not his thing!
Yup, breakfast everyone must go to the dining car, all else is upon guest request
You can definitely request to your room attendant that all your meals be delivered to your room. That's what's done with disabled riders that can't climb the stairs. Just ask nicely
TRAIN
Tsk
I’ve done Amtrak from Eugene to LA & San Francisco
What was your favorite meal on the train. How many hours of sleep did you get on this train
Thanks for the video. Loved everything except the music with those fake drums.
Why are you all attached to this train?
Music too loud and voice very low.... please correct this for next videos. Good report tho, cheers.
Couldn't watch it all of it. The low voice audio and blasting music and background noise made it difficult to watch/listen to.
Found the music etremely annoytng, had to provide my own. Sorry. 😟🙁☹
Please answer me this why do people always have to show their face when they're making a video about something that's not about themselves
PLEASE normalize your audio tracks. Soft voice then BOOMING bass and music.
