I am a Veteran, a African American, and I love for history but even I was shocked how is grave looked. Like we as America could restore that grave for the man that help create this country. Thank you for the walk and also why was his house gone.
My 7th Great Grandfather Elias Boudinot 3rd lived next door to Franklin and was Postmaster at the post office. He was a silversmith/goldsmith and lived above his shop...
There's a long standing tradition of pitching pennies onto Franklin's grave stone. On average, the total pennies over a year's time total about 390,000. The church collects the pennies and various coins and puts them itno a fund to help maintain the grounds.
If you’re interested in the person , his grave is a good place to end the story , but I lived in the area . This video only skims the serface of the whole story . But because this video did talk about a smidgen of franklins life , I clicked on it . There is a place in Philadelphia that talks about his intelegence . That is a must see , while you there .
Also buried in the same cemetery is Charles Mason, who, with his partner Jeremiah Dixon, surveyed and established the boundary between Pennsylvania and Maryland, a boundary known as the Mason Dixon line. His grave is marked by a portion of one of the original boundary marker stones set by his survey crew while drawing the line.
Ben said, "One day men and women will be connected to a shared, worldwide experience with near-instant communication. More educated people than ever before in the history of humanity shall be living freely and abundantly. It is GUARANTEED to wake that generation up."
He had several inventions but the three that come to mind is the lightning rod, bifocals & Franklin stove. Ben did not like being cold so he made improvements to a stove of that era to greatly produce more heat. He refused to get a patent on things that made human life more comfortable.
Benjamin Franklin was modernized in thinking as a Pennsylvanian. He valued even Africans in Philadephian society that were educated and not slaves in thought process;but literate equal citizens...
I can't believe they tore down Franklin's house. Like they didn't know that would be cool to have around? And the Franklin Institute is a much better museum, though it's a science museum named after him, and not devoted to Franklin's life.

This is very interesting. Ben Franklin was a man for the ages, in so many ways..🎊 That museum is an attraction that he deserves to have. Thank you for the reference to the cost. Yes, that's right to set things straight about his burial place. The video was very well done. From the *location of his home, and throughout, you highlighted what a visitor should visit. Thank you both for this coverage. I have been to PA, but never Philadelphia. I know I am missing so much history, Nick. 🌞☀️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🔥
This man was a true genius. Pretty much every founding father was what I would consider to be a genius. They described George Washington as being of rather average intelligence and yet, compared to us, pure genius. No indoctrination, could define what a woman is, common sense.
Ben was one hell of a good founding father so why doesn't Wikipedia mention that fact? It says: "Benjamin Franklin was an American polymath: a writer, scientist, inventor, statesman, diplomat, printer, publisher and political philosopher."
Charging a fee to enter a museum is stupid. Charging a fee to enter a cemetery is outrageous. Many of the places I use to visit in Philly were free. Do they charge to see the Liberty Bell now? When we were kids, the Bell was in Independence Hall back by a staircase. We could put our fingers in the crack and stick our heads under the bell and look up inside the bell.
Very interesting how they preserved in steel, the profile of his house and printing facility. I would not object to the accurate restoration of those buildings though.
He was never married, but he had a common-law-wife. Always had his way with the ladies, except for one. Can't think of her name, but she never gave into his advances, no matter how hard he tried.
@ I’m sure they were I traveled to Napa many time and they look just like them when they are not in season to produce safe travels brother be safe and thanks for the cool videos
When I visited there, I laughed cuz they had "signs" in the ground at various places basically saying "Franklin took a crap here...." "Someone else took a crap here"....
Ben was a childhood friend and a colleague of mine. He's long gone but I'm 67 right now and will start turning young again soon a when I get to 3 or 4 years old I will find a family to adopt and raise me. I have what is called Benjamin Buttons syndrome
Because they no longer teach American history, there is is no value of our founders. We should keep such historic homes but we tear down rather than value the past. Thanks for the video anyways, interesting museum.✌️
Damn I hate when an interesting video is ruined with music!!! It make it SO MUCH HARDER TO HEAR.. if you ever make another video PLEASE leave the stupid distracting music out!!!!!!!!
@@huns12345 Wow. I don’t have to say anything after that. It wasn’t Franklin who said it, but it surely applies here. “It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubts.”

Benjamin Franklin’s Georgian House in London still survives and was built in 1730. He lived there from 1757 to 1774. It’s now a museum.
I would like to tour that someday!
He is one of my ancestors. My mom was a Franklin. Thank you for posting.
Wow that’s awesome! Glad you enjoyed then thanks!
He's pretty much everyone's ancestor. He's not called the "Real father of the country" for nothing. He got around.
Liar
He's my 8th great grandfather through my mother
He is my 4th Cousin 9 times removed on my father's side.

Complain to Christ Church whose cemetery his grave he's in.
I live nearby. So I've seen his grave many times. I don't see any problem with it.

That’s crazy. Thanks for sharing that info!
I have placed quite a few pennies on his grave myself over the years.
I bet a couple of thousand end up in peoples' pockets.
@Woof728 Yeah, it is Philly after all. 🤣
Great video-love all things history, especially American history.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for taking the time to make the video.
You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

While going to university in Philadelphia back in the 70s I lived near his grave. I tossed a penny on it every time I passed by.
Oh nice!
Awesome would be great to walk where he went through the walkway. Great video. Love history
Thanks so much Rick! Thanks for coming along

We visited a few years ago and I thought it was a shame the two one kept his house. Now that would have been something to see.
I wish it was still around

Benjamin Franklin was modernized in thinking as a Pennsylvanian. He valued even Africans in Philadephian society that were educated and not slaves in thought process;but literate equal citizens...
He owned slaves earlier in his life.
My 7th great grandmother was his step grandmother.
Cool!

I visited Benjamin Franklin’s grave, house, and museum.
Nice. Thanks for watching!
He needs to be mentioned more and have a holiday of recognition for him, he and my brother share a birthday thank you
I agree, thanks!
Enjoy ❤
Thank you!
I’ve actually seen all of that. It’s very interesting.
Nice! Thanks!
Interesting. Never knew there was a Benjamin Franklin museum
It’s relatively new I think it came out maybe 3-4 years back. Thanks for watching!
Very interesting
Glad you think so! Thanks!

He would be disgusted with American politics of today.
You got that right
Thanks for watching!
He would probably find today's politics very amusing
He was a man of science and the Age of Enlightenment.
Unlike right wing trolls in youtube comment sections.
Ben was one hell of a good founding father so why doesn't Wikipedia mention that fact? It says: "Benjamin Franklin was an American polymath: a writer, scientist, inventor, statesman, diplomat, printer, publisher and political philosopher."
He was also an enslaver.
Thanks for adding this and watching!
Soon they will make him disappear!! Wake up people!!

Liberty bell is still free, but I wouldn’t doubt it’ll cost money some day lol. Thanks for watching
Didn’t Ben Franklin call the average American “The great beast”.
Very interesting how they preserved in steel, the profile of his house and printing facility. I would not object to the accurate restoration of those buildings though.
Yea those buildings would be incredible to see. Thanks!
I really dug the "horseless carriage" he was hauled around in!
Yea that was really cool to see. Thanks!
Like Empires Nympho in the Mell Brooks movie " History of the World " 😮
I’m sure his slaves enjoyed it just as much as you did. 🥰
Who were the idiots who tore down his house? ...What year was it destroyed?
I put it in the video but I think they tore his house down 22YRS after he passed
My favorite Founding Father!!
😎✌️👏
He stayed away from his family - wife and kids, for years.
My brothers sister aunt was Ben Franklins friends butlers father. He owned a grey dog named Jeffrey.
Wow that’s something. Thanks for sharing!
Ben Franklin is buried right nest to a sidewalk were people walk and Dogs Pee . I am sure he would be amused by it.
Maybe haha
He was never married, but he had a common-law-wife. Always had his way with the ladies, except for one. Can't think of her name, but she never gave into his advances, no matter how hard he tried.
Well, he never did marry Deborah.
True haha thanks for watching!
He is spinning in that grave today.
Price of Constitution Hall is $30 or $35? Not really for young children.mostly for adults who like to read every tag.
No fireplace, Franklin furnace 😊
They should rebuild the house
Were those weird looking trees u mentioned not grape trees
They could’ve been but I’m not sure
@ I’m sure they were I traveled to Napa many time and they look just like them when they are not in season to produce safe travels brother be safe and thanks for the cool videos
I personally think the buildings should be rebuilt if they have actual plans
That would be awesome 👏
Why the music?? Ugh
Thanks for the feedback!
His sleeves carried him around from place from place not his servants
Benjamin Franklin owned slaves as a young man, but he became an outspoken opponent of slavery later in life
Philly Captain did this already
So? This is my channel not his
His mother was born on Nantucket
I stood where you are at Arch and Fifth and tossed pennies on his grave as is the custom of many apparently.... May 1, 2005.
Nice, thanks!
When I visited there, I laughed cuz they had "signs" in the ground at various places basically saying "Franklin took a crap here...." "Someone else took a crap here"....
Why would they tear down his house?
Not sure. Thx for watching!
The trees are espaliered.
Thank you!
Nowadays, I didn't think anything could be purchased for $ 5.00 dollars.
Good point haha. Thanks for watching!
I’m surprised nobody left a $100 dollar bill on his grave as a tribute!!!
Lol, thanks for watching!
They should dig up the body to look at it
5:02 BF wasn't there to witness Brits, he was in a cockpit and given a tongue lashing while he stood silent.
You didn't want to go to Christ Church where he where he went to church at and welcome to my hometown and we're also reside
Burial ground was closed the day we were there. Thanks for watching!
Wipe the glass… then we could see.
Did you say 'President Franklin's grave' at 7:28? Franklin was many things, but he was never President of the United States.
Did I? Lol oops 🙊
@@TravelswithNick LOL Relax, we all do them. I do them a lot more since became a senior. Great video otherwise.
I thought Ben was buried Grannary Hill Boston MA
His parents are buried there. I have a video on them too :)
Unfortunately, we started early (1812) with the tear-it-down--yesterday culture.
Yea it’s a shame wish it was still there. Thanks!
Absolute disgrace they leveled that man’s home. Glad they could make something out of it.
I visited Philly once. I’ll never go back. Rude ass ppl
Why don't they do dna test & find out who his 1st son's(buried in uk) mother was?
I wonder if they ever will 🤷♂️
Too bad they couldn't save his house
IK!
Great video the only problem is it’s in Philadelphia
Thanks for watching!
Did it ever occur to you to RESEARCH this info BEFORE you made the video ?!?!?!?!? This video is an insult to the memory of Franklin.
Lol how?
they can jump into that grave for charging a dime to see that.. and they can goto HELLOW2
Me was quite the ladies man.
Yes he was, thanks!
Ben was a childhood friend and a colleague of mine.

Your girlfriend is a lot smarter than you are
That’s why I married her
How comes it's not there anymore.
They tore it down 22 years after he passed. Not sure why they did it
