im trying to figure out how to program this radio with its actual software using the 2tone option. im on an ambulance service and ive programmed this how i want it but i cant seem to get the 2tone option to work.so that i can program it so that when the emergency service dispatch tones us out that my radio will go off and i can hear it but when they tone out other agencies that i wont hear them. do you or anyone else reading this know how to do this?
Does the stock programmer have the ability to set DTMF control commands to control the bf5888uv with another radio for controlling channels remotely. The only thing my manual says about cross and repeater is how to turn the feature on in the menu. If using this as a remote repeater this radios cross and is worthless without the ability to control it remotely and also illegal to not have control of a remote station.
I'm having a heck of a time programming this radio. I did some manual programming but my 220 freqs stored in some weird place but they show up in memory mode which is fine. I was able to use it with Chirp before...For some reason, now I can't, it says "unsupported model." I downloaded the Anytone software and it says "communication error" or Read failed. I wanted to add some more channels and for some odd reason when I manually try to go to 220 by pressing and holding the knob, it skips 220 altogether so can't add any. Any thoughts on how to get the computer to read this radio again when it did before?
N8NRD, how does one re enable the dual watch in channel name mode? I don't wanna reset it id imagine it's something I'm missing somewhere. The audio from A and B at same time trying to find the setting for it.

Why does it tell me it finds no port when i hook it up ? My brother said its the cable that i ordered. I cant download the radio image due to not finding a port for the usb.
I believe the Channel mute option is so that when your transmitting on one side that it will auto mute the other side, and you can set it up so that when you are receiving something on one side then the other side is muted, or you can just shut that off all together.
I know this video is OLD, but i am a soon-to-be ham newbie. I am studying for the tech. ham license. just bought this exact radio and getting frustrated! i even got a SWR/Power meter but am still getting NOTHING as far as signal. I just want to listen until i get my license. is there a club or chatroom i can join that can help me with setting this up? im about to send this s*@t back! gruuah! Plz help!
when you were talking about scan mode, that means it only scan the channels you program in the radio? Or can it scan all the 2M or the 440 too? As I travel alot, wont do me no good have to stop and reprogram the radio. Thanks 73s
i have the cable that looks like a landline phone plug like the RJ11 and the USB on the other end and it will recognise port 3 i can click things but it wont read or write am getting an error code says something like pc is v200 not v100..something like that, do you hve any idea what this is?

Thanks for your video and i also like to comment you that the factory of AT 5888UV, before starting massive sales of this unit, send me brandnew demo unit for evaluation here in my country. So one of the problems that i found on this demo unit that i did feedback the factory, was that the VHF band got lots of interference from other frequencies (intermod) Today i know the factory solve this problem on the new units. So now i m trying to know if there is any way to solve this problem by just getting into the radio programming factory settings. Sorry for my english, but i hope you can help me with this. Somewhere I missed how to expand the frequency range to include such freqs as 444.975/449.975. Any insight on that?

Yeah, usually if I dont want to hear one side, I just turn the volume to 0.
