@@playdirty714 Nah, all good. I've fished there before a few times during the day. Only done one night fishing there, so your vid definitely helps. The funny part is I remember some lady hitting me up too. I just bought some snares from her and she left me alone. LOL. Should be out there in a couple of weeks for a work/vacay trip. Hope the Macks are still running. The window for Macks in Santa Cruz is a short window. Tight Lines!
Apologies for the poor lighting quality of the video. Even with the bright LED light attached to my GOPRO and the bright light from the pier, it wasn't enough to improve the visibility. Hopefully, the basics and the concepts were clear. Thanks for watching and for your support.
They're great used for bait. Especially to catch lobsters. When you catch them and they die, immediately after they die fillet them and use the fillet on a trapper rig with a stinger. While the meat is still fresh, it's almost as good as using live bait to catch halibut.
I grew up in Orange County and fished the piers a lot. Do you think Newport is better than Balboa because they’re so close together? I’m American Japanese and my wife is Filipina and we both love Mackerel. It’s April 5th 2024 and I wonder if the mackerel are running yet??? If they are could you let me know please. Thanks, Dan Suzuki, Retired USAF and Vietnam Veteran. 🫡🇺🇸 P.S. What’s your name my friend?
Hello Dan. Welcome. Yes typically mackerels are in the Newport Pier area between March all the way to November. I caught around 50 mackerels a couple weeks ago on the Newport Pier. Was too lazy to film and post. In my opinion, the Newport Pier is better than Balboa because the lighting on Newport Pier is brighter. Plus it's closer to my house and there's more feet traffic. If you take a look at the topography of the pier locations on Google Earth, Newport is at the corner of the peninsula which tends to have more movement in the water. More movement means more probability of fishes moving with the current which means more possibility of you catching them. Now this is all based on my opinion and common sense not scientificly proven. My name is Kenny.
@@playdirty714 Thanks Kenny for the quick response, I appreciate it bro! I just recently subscribed to your UA-cam channel because I liked the way you throughly explain everything about fishing. I’m like that too, it must be the teacher in us… Btw, your reason for Newport being a better pier for schooling fish makes a lot of sense. I’ll be checking you out my friend…
@@danielsuzuki2678 Thanks for subscribing Dan. Hope you enjoy the other videos. I will try to go out this weekend and make another video to upload. Weather has been terrible here in Southern Cali. I can only go fishing on Sundays and it has been raining for the past few Sundays.
It's called the Goldenwest swap meet also known as the Weekend flea market. Located in the city of Huntington Beach. The swap meet is in the parking lot of the Goldenwest college.

Cam on Vien Phuong dda ung ho.
Thanks for the fishing tips. 🎣
You're welcome Rob. I don't like filming at night. Due to lack of lighting, video quality was poor in my opinion.

Is that jimmy tackle shop lol the one in Long Beach
Yes. I believe there's only 1 Jimmy bait and tackle in Long Beach.
Nice vid. Inshore they all seem gone as Bonito too.

@@playdirty714 It was a great video. 👍
Tuyệt vời quá
Besides smoking these macs as a treat for my dogs, I don;t have any use for them.

Woof woof 😂 that's the only way I eat them smoked on charcoal grill. The rest saved for shark n lobster bait.
