Trying to get these things to pair is a nightmare
The problem most people have is in the your choice of where to put it. If you put it on a light switch .... Every time you turn the switch off you will break the Wi-Fi connection. These are best used in solid state ( ALWAYS ) on lights.
An example. If I connect this bulb to a night stand lamp... No problems at all! But if I connect this to say a living room ceiling fan, then you get the blinking light wanting to pair to a source device. It sure this because by turning the switch off... It breaks the connection to the Wi-Fi. It's that simple.
@@UdontHAVEaNAME Why can't you leave the ceiling fan lights switch always on and just turn off the smart lights with a voice command or the Feit app?
@@UdontHAVEaNAME that's not the problem. The problem is they don't pair easily.
@@UdontHAVEaNAME I just got some and it works fine and connects immediately with the switch flip
I've been using 10 of these in my house for around four years now. None have needed replacing. Several times I've had one go offline and had to use the light switch to power off and back on again to bring it back online, but this has been a VERY rare occurrence. Something I think is really worth mentioning is that you can set up routines to control these lights based on a schedule or event. For example I use a routine to turn a couple of them on at sundown automatically, then turn them off later in the evening. And if you use an Amazon Echo you can control multiple lights with the same command. ( I assume Googles Home also supports this functionality.) It's nice to turn off all the lights in a room you've just left with a single command, or turn all lights on in a room before you enter.
I have like 7 of these. They work well for me. The app has greatly improved since I first started using it.
Good to know, thanks
Can U help me i just bought one but it never start blinking I switched it on and off several times and nothing happens why ?
This worked fantastically!!
Great to hear
I got 4 flood lights of these and they work great. I have a new router on 5ghz too so idk
Can U help me i just bought one but it never start blinking I switched it on and off several times and nothing happens why ?
Had to re-pair the pair of bulbs in my bedroom after a couple of days. Had low expectations for this product given that they only cost $10. Got what I paid for.
Couldn't work with wifi due to 5 GHz but Bluetooth worked fine
Dude, set your phone's hotspot name the same as your home Wi-Fi name.
Have your bulb set up using your phone hotspot.
Then you will find that the bulb suddenly have no trouble connecting to your home Wi-Fi and start working just fine.
Quite a difficult app to deal with. If they would just update the app, all would be forgiven. But as of right now... I feel like I just threw money away. It takes forever to get it programmed and every power outage creates a whole new set of problems with automation.
Okay so I try and pair this to my Alexa to play music so it syncs with it . But everyone I click off or back it takes it away it’s a very annoying feature but would be cool if they fixed it . Or maybe I’m just not using it correctly
I’m having same issue. I wish you were able to sync more than one with the music but it appears only one at a time
I'm having truble pairing it's in a lamp any more ideas?
did you get the M/F or 2023 edition... it really can affect how they pair
can you control the bulb using the app from 2 different cell phones? or three or more cell phones?
No reason why not. As long as you are signed into your account on the app I think this would work fine. I did not try this but don't think it would be a problem
Yes, you can, however all phones tablets or whatever have to have the same email account
Nevermind, another video showed the functionality I was wondering about.
I'm glad you found what you were looking for, thanks for the feedback I'm reviewing another smart bulb this week so i'll try to include
These are super reliable to use with google assistant
I have a number of these bulbs, plugs, and shop light. I've had no issues whatsoever. I have them in ceiling fans and lamps. The shop light is in my garage. My daughter says the colors could be a bit brighter, but for 2 bulbs at 10 bucks (Costco), that's a sacrifice she'll have to make (since I'm paying for them). The plugs work as expected. I have two dimmer switches, but haven't installed them yet.
Lastly, I hope that Feit will eventually get their devices working with IFTTT. They have their own automation, but I would like to see it integrated with other vendor's devices.
Thanks for sharing your experiences with the Feit smart devices. 100 percent agree the colors could be better BUT still really good for the price.
Are you using a hub like Alexa or Siri or Google? If so, that is why
As a white hat, I do not prefer them.
sorry i got these but they did work for a while. now having problems so its 2024 now-- time to try a different brand.
Had about 25 of them in my home. Only had to replace about 2 to 3 of them in the past 3 years.
I couldn't understand why there are bulbs that are priced somewhere between 30 to 40 dollars and have the same function as inexpensive ones like Feit.
Did you download the Feit Electric app on an iPhone? There are 2 Feit Electric apps, I don't know which is the right one for my Apple iPhone
have they updated it so that you don’t choose the device type. when i click add device it automatically tells me to do the wifi thing i don’t pick that in using a light
no their app and set up is still crap. glad i saved my purchase note. i will just grab some regular LED bulbs, these are not worth the trouble. I hope everyone else has an easier time. But a light bulb should not be this complicated.
For me, I found the setup to be fairly quick and easy, but I have used a lot of different smart bulbs. I agree that the technology should be intuitive and just work, you shouldn't have to spend time figuring it out, it should be easy
@@Nikua13 right mine won't connect to wifi taking mir back
@@karenfaustfaust2499 I tried for two days in between frustration. But I could not get them to connect by either means. I just it the remote key chains to turn regular ledbulvs on and off. I wanted it to be cooler, but this at least functions.
Worked for one day.
Anybody know if they work with Apple? Meaning “hey Siri, dim the lights.”
I just bought about 10 of them, but I had t thought of using Siri…currently manually controlling with my iPhone…
Anybody using them with Harmony remote?
They're garbage
these things are a pain! Wanted to try a smart style bulb in just one room. Went with the Feit's and regret it now. They do not connect. I work in IT so I like to believe I know what I am doing. I verified that I am on the 2.4 network, and still nothing. These are a waste of money IMO. Maybe they work for some, but don't seem to work for me.
How about this. Mine lasted 2 years and started blinking. After checking the connections and router, all I have left is to replace. Now I get to spend the next 20 years watching my bulb flash.
Can a house be “ bugged” using these bulbs?
YEAH but we use an exterminator
That voice is good to put someone to sleep 😂😂😂 zzZZZ
These side by side video comparisons aren't very accurate. You can tell that the camera used has automatically applied color and brightness corrections to them all, essentially reducing the noticable difference for comparison. For a single color, just look at the variation by bulb of the color tint of the lamp base. If I am wrong, I apologize.
Regardless, I would recommend the best way to do this would be to get a 4th bulb to set as a reference, configure the camera's aperture, ISO, white balance (tint), and shutter speed to locked values with a manual setting (this is called pro mode if this was shot on a phone). This will prevent the camera or phone fr automatically enhancing the video, showing a truer comparison.
Thanks for the feedback Andrew, you make some very good points. Appreciate your input and suggestions.
sounds like lots of success - I've tried two lights, a few dozen times and the connection fails each time. 2.4 wifi - the app finds the device each time and fails each time. back to costco
I just bought a pair of these. One of them works fine. The other one did not lol. Whatever.
These lights are absolute trash. Impossible to get them to connect! Im going back to Lutron switches.
If you enjoy \RGB lights that emit nearly no RGB color.. Its not even functional in the slightest .,.. Perhaps if you had 5-10 of them you could some decent rgb lighting but go wih govee if you plan on wanting colored lights.
Feit sucks. I'd stay away.
Thanks for sharing your experience
I've had absolutely no problems! If you are using 2..4 g wifi and find the app does not recognize the bulb you must reset the bulb by repeating the on-off-on-off-on-off cycle 3 times, pausing a few seconds between each set of on-offs. This resets bulb to original factory settings and allows app to recognize it, should the connection between the bulb and app become corrupted somehow. I've had to do this about once a year
Garbage lights
Worst thing I've ever bought in my life. Wasted 2 hours. Still not connecting. I've tried everything
It sucks!
Any particular reason? Sharing your experience with the light bulb might be helpful for other potential buyers.
No it doesn't
The problem is 5 giga hertz... the problem is this annoying product is needs you to do annoying things to get it to work.
If I changed the PW to my Wifi, but have my bulb settings and scheduled all set through Alexa, how can I reconnect the effing piece of shit bulb again to my same wifi that I changed the password too without losing my settings and having to do everything all over again? Oh.. you can't.. GG
The Effects feature is garbage, I can't customize it the way I want and it doesn't seem to work as intended. I have several smart devices in my house and this one is by far the worst. I have mine outside on my balcony and I want to make it flash red and green for Christmas, but it's impossible. It works great for just turning on at sunset, and off at sunrise, but that's about it
This is the worst thing to spend a night on.
I agree completely.
What a strange accent, I’ve never heard anything like it. Like some sort of cross between Australian and English Cockney.
