No, the maths is working fine. The moon still works exactley the same way it has for millions of years. It orbits the planet roughly every 28 days. Ofcourse, our planet is spinning, so we see it cross the sky every day, at a slightly different time. During a given month, half the time you'll see the moon at day, and half the time you'll see it at night. You've been seeing this YOUR ENTIRE LIFE. Just coz little kids only draw the moon in night-time scenes, doesn't make it true. Also note, if the moon was indeed as close at flat-heads say it would appear much larger when directly over head compared to when it's near the horizon, coz it's distance from you and your vantage-point on earth changes drastically as it cross the sky. Given that the moon remains a fairly stable size as it crosess the entire sky, we know it is MUCH MUCH MUCH further away than flat-heads claim. In other words, anyone on earth can prove the flat-earth model wrong just by watching the moon for 24 hours. There is ZERO excuse for this idiocy to still exist.

The only way you could think the moon at day-time threatens the sphere-earth model is if you don't understand the model. The actual model literally predicts this... According to the globe model, the moon rotates around the earth roughly every 28 days, and the earth spins once per day. Thus, if the moon is highest in the sky at midnight, you know it will also be highest in the sky at midday in 14 days. And then midnight another 14 days after that. You should have a play with the sphere-earth model using a fun / accessible tool like "UniverseSandbox", even if only so you can critique the model better. And if you don't want to buy software, that's ok. The moon actually visually confirms that the flat-earth model is wrong every time it crosses the sky, visible from anywhere on earth. If the earth was flat and the moon was circling above, the moon would look largest when it was directly above, in the centre of the sky, coz that's when it's BY FAR closer to you. Alas, the moon's size does not change significantly as it moves across the sky. If anything, it seems largest when the moon is at the horizon, where it should be furthest from you according to the flat-earth model.
