- So I shot an entire Cinematic Scene on the Sony Xperia 1 IV along the coast of Cornwall. Picture this, 4K120p, an 85-125mm True Optical Zoom Lens, Real Time AF and Object Tracking, all in a PHONE! Honestly how crazy good is the footage from this thing 🔥 That 85mm is Levellls. Can definitely see myself using this when travelling and in locations that are a bit sketchy with bigger cameras. Let me know what you thinkkkk. Bosh 😉
@Syahril Sufyan Yeah, 125 is definitely softer. For video, The 85mm for me is as far as I need to go really. Maybe up to 100 in some cases.
I am sure plenty of viewers would love to play with some of the RAW files if you were willing to share them. The footage is insanely good for a cell phone, almost hard to believe.

@@Allysieh I won't have the phone until the 16. But through filmic pro the functions should work. Not through cinema pro sadly. Filmic pro is great though
Dude ... You are the only person showing what Xperias are capable of. Can you do a video on how you color grade the footage?
arguably not "the only", but surely "one of the best"
There's been many that managed to create gems out of the 3 lens and 4k fps this phone ahs, heck even iPhonedo can in his intro to the phone.
those shots are something else. Really makes me wanna dodge my bulky equipment and use this, you'd have this on you at all times, even nights out!
Exactly what I'm thinking. Might as well always have it with me. (Would have to take the little ND case though personally)
I believe within the next decade we'll see the need for full gear disappear, phones will be all we need ☝🏼
The grading, composition and movement makes this entire thing look amazing.
The camera might be amazing, but the outcome is a function of RAW TALENT. Masterful composition, editing and colour grading. You are a powerhouse James Matthews!

Hey, how about a video doing some portraits with this new Sony Xperia? The 85 mm looks sick, and doesn’t have the overprocessed look as the iPhone or pixel, I’d love to see what you could do with it

True!! Even the S21 ultra and S22 ultra look overprocessed! I prefer my Note 10plus over those! I think I'm going to upgrade to this phone!!
@@Immortal__ Yeah, for video the Xperia is by far the best for me, just because of the way Sony processes video, like a camera would. For photos I would probably go with the new iPhone 14 pro, the photos you get shooting in apple pro raw with the whole 48mp sensor is fantastic, they’re natural, not over processed and with lots of detail. For video though, even prores on iPhones has a lot of digital sharpening, it looks unnatural compared to the xperia.

Incredible stuff man. It's absolutely mind blowing what you can create with a mobile phone these days.
And really goes to show that if you know the basics (like the 180 rule, when to use an ND filter...) can let you create great videos no matter what you're using.
This is literally it mate. 180 Degree shutter, dont blow your highlights, and you are pretty much there. PS. Thanks for the Track ;)

Honestly, I really like what you did with this phone. The whole filming process has been simplified and you can get angles that you would not get as easily with a camera. I would really like to see a future video in another scenario, also with the phone filmed. Nice mate! 🖤🎞🌊

85mm looks a dash soft but that have been dusk shots. But for all that in a phone, great.
All we need now is the small screen built in on the back and built in ND filters like the RX range. Hate having to carry accessories.
Wow. That is wildly impressive for a camera that size, obviously the photographer is more important than the camera, but it´s incredible considering the size nonetheless. Definitely considering this instead of, say, a GoPro or whatever. What an amazing b-cam.

Damn, that footage is absolutely incredible.
It's funny because Sony designs nearly all the camera sensors in smartphones, but up until the past year or so the actual _processing_ of the images was much worse than the competition...which is crazy, because Sony makes actual professional cameras. Yet Google and Apple were consistently able to get far better results from the same sensors in the Pixel and iPhone lines, respectively.
Sony must have had some of their Mirrorless or Cinema teams start to help out with the software, UI, and post-processing on the past two Xperia phones, because it looks just amazing. The bitrate, the color, the dynamic range...wild.
If you were anticipating the history of Sony Xperia mobile smartphones, you can see that they've improved remarkably in 2019, when the entire Xperia 1, 5, and 10 lineups were introduced, as Sony has also been put under the Sony Electronics department rather than being an entirely separate corporation by Sony. And yes, that was also the first time that the Alpha and Bravia teams have contributed to helping the Xperia department to develop better smartphone features based on their knowledge, particularly with cameras.
Now, the collaboration has come to fruition and we can now enjoy nearly complete Alpha and CineAlta set of features in a smartphone, and they'd definitely grow bigger and better as time passes by.
The team that works for Alpha also works for Xperia, they are the same team now, they merger the camera, audio, video and xperia departament into one division called Sony Electronics Products & Solutions.
If you shoot with a high end Sony Alpha and with the Xperia 1 III or newer you will see that they share the same processing, the only difference is the noise because that depends on the sensor, but the color science, the noise reduction and sharpness algorithms are the same.
Game changing.
