When my sisters and I were in elementary school, all 3 of us had a special 'video paper day'.
We would spread all of the papers we had kept through the school year all over the house (or yard).
Then, we would get to bring out the video camera (the big one, like the size of a cat) and record all of our papers with our narrations.
After that, we would keep a few and throw the rest away.
Salory 2 wow i might just have to try this..such a great idea
It is!
My mom didn't have to throw away the stuff in the middle of the night, either, since we knew it would be remembered. (Even though we never actually watched the videos... lol)
I've done something similar, except it was in every crevise of my bedroom. Honestly, I only pulled out all my stuff because I was going into middle school the following year and my mom would have grounded me if I didn't. Wish we had the yard space to do that!
this is way better for me coz I can't seem to want to part with ANYTHING. Or i can just take pictures I guess or scan. coz I have tried the throw away I just can't.
I am 18 and my mom still has my work from Kindergarten! I love going through the pieces I made and I hope your kids will enjoy seeing their work in the future!
The archive system totally works and is amazing/hilarious to look back at! It's what my mom did for my entire elementary school years -- report cards, artworks, projects, photos
Who else is always like 🤔 I should remember that in 15 years 😂😂

What my mother did was progress books. What you basically do is start to write about what progress things that your child has done throughout the years (you start at 1day old until they are 18). My mum kept my hairs from my first haircut or my teeth from my first baby tooth loss and would write about silly things I did! I think it's a thing you would enjoy doing!

Oh man! We have on overflow of artwork, I have tried it all, binders etc. but I throw it all in a bin and go through it when my kids aren't around! lol I take photos of the nice ones and throw them in shutterfly books that I make :)
THE WADS I have thought about taking photos. Do you really make shutterfly books?

I love Elle’s videos because I get to see my Tessie!
We just started stapling them to the wall of our garage, 16 years later and you can't see the wallpaper for so much art, it's about 3 inches thick!
Here is another idea. My parents kept most of our drawings and paintings with date on them. When we were quite a bit older, they picked with us our favorite and most memorable pictures and me made a self bound book out of the scanned artwork and gave them as christmas presents to grandparents & co. They still have their books and it's a sweet memory. I guess if you scanned them very nicely you could create a professionally bound book with more pages and so keep those treasures more compact and alive.
What my mom dose is she has 4 draws
1: report cards
2: hand print and initials
3: family art
4: art for holidays
*does
I actually am still laughing that Presley drew a girl in a crop top😂😂😂😂 way to go presley😁😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You look awesome in those soft curls Elle!
My mom kept all my art!!! She never threw it away bc she knew I would become a artist and want to see my art. Just now when I turned 16 we threw stuff away but my mom was near tears but it was so much stuff and it just took away space
I started doing the memory box last year and it's made life so much easier!!
Elle you are so helpful thank you so much. You are one of the prettiest people I know ever
OMG GREAT IDEAS, with 5 kids, over the years I have had sooo much art work i loved and had to toss some too :( ITS HARD I know lol!
My mom did something like this but with binders. Really cool to look at when I'm older.
The better edited version 😃 still love you guys
Ni O yeah
Ha, thanks for watching again!! =)
Ni O It was the first time for be, must have missed the other version.
WhatsUpMoms Omg I can't believe you answered my comment 😙
WhatsUpMoms can you tell us where you found the bins please
Stuff that you were going to throw away (especially the dots) can make really nice wrapping paper for presents.
At my school we had something called a “home progress folder” where we would put art, writing ect. That’s where like all the good stuff went, I still have my prep one 😂😂
Such great tips. I'm only a teen but I still love watching your videos.
Such a smart system! Thanks for sharing 😊🙌🏻

I remember when my elder kids were used to give me the artwork I kept collecting them till the 1st of month and pasted them in sketchbook. I used sketchbook as a scrapbook.
Keep all the report cards !!!!!! I loved looking at all the report cards my mom has kept :)
I wish my mother didn't

Made we wanna organize my Diys and crafts. Got a lot of them. I have a feeling I would get along with Brooke really well. Haha!
I really love this.. been trying to figure out what to do with my son's art work. He just started 1st grade and I still have everything from Kindergarden.
Tess is getting so big!!!
They’ve grown up so much I remember when Presley was so little!!!!
Who else is years away from even having kids yet loves what's up moms 😂😂
Frankie me LOL 😂😂🤣🤣
Love all of the ideas. I will be trying a few of them.. I'm very sentimental and still carry the receipt from my son's crib and car seat purchases in my wallet. He's 17 years old.
Am I the only one that isn't a mom and still loves what's up moms😂😂😅
Lily27 Alvarez nope
OMG Elle you are such a good mom and Presley, ford and tess are so lucky to have you and Ross and to be apart of the Wum family xxxxxx
You probably won't read this by it's true
I tried the "push and open" system and stabbed my hand with a pair of scissors.
😂😂
Oh my...
Holy...
😂 r u ok?
I will have to remember this! My son is starting to get prolific with his artwork (he drew Batman for the first time the other day!), so my plan is to scan in my favorites, and every few months (or once a year, let's be real) make a photo book with them. That way it's something I can look back on, and also something that looks nice on a coffee table or that I can put on a shelf in his room for him to look at.
Who is not a mom and watching for future help with kids
Love the idea of framing and giving as gifts to the grandparents!! We have so much and since my daughter started preschool (for speech), she will have 3 years of it!! 😦😂
I must say, as the kids get older they won’t bring home as much art so you won’t have so many problems 😂
Lauren Cha cha cha 669ii999
who else loves the short intros and how they get right to the point
Where'd you find the waterprood bins?
I do this organization technique except I use large 3 ring binders with pocket protectors and add in items regularly- that way it doesn't "pile up"! This way I can store other items like ribbons, cards and pictures
I'm a kid and I'm trying to find something to do
Ok this was the best idea ever!!!!! Seriously! First video in a long time I was like.... this is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!:))) I love all your videos.. just this is what I needed right now!!!!:)))
Does anyone know what type of frames would work for framing construction paper? And where to get them? The kids I babysit constantly give me drawings and I've been wanting to frame them, but all I can find is photo frames, and they never fit the size of the paper. Also, they tend to be very bulky, I would rather get ones that are thin.
Rebecca Cross I
You can buy frames on amazon to fit the size of your paper.
Rebecca Cross I think constriction paper is a little bit bigger than a standard peeve of paper...maybe 10x12...so just get a frame a little bit bigger than that.
Thanks for reuploading ! Tess is growing ... So cute 😘😘
Reupload???
ikr whyyyy
They reuploaded because the former video had problems in the last part!
Caterina Vignali did it ???
Yeah it is
Yes!! I messed up the first one. =)
Gotta love whatsupmoms even when you are not a mom ❤️❤️
Me as mom
So just throw them all away
Im 10 and i love this channel so much and my sis is like man this is helpful lets so mom already!!
Who watching this in December 2019
Make it blue
This is such a great idea - I wish I would have done this starting when Max was younger. He's gone into 1st grade this year and I will definitely dig through and find artwork from previous years and begin a file system like this!
Max isn't a first-grader anymore! I hope you see this and remember the days when he was little 😌
I have a Max, too 🥰
@@shitneyb5562 ❤️❤️ this was so sweet!
Link to the bins PLEASE!
Me and Presley Both have the same backpack mine is pink with buckles just like hers and it has my name

My son is now in second grade and im still that mom who tries to keep everything! A good idea that I've been doing since pre-k is I save all of his stuff, artwork, worksheets, year book, costumes, etc. & at the end of the year instead of donating/throwing out his backpack I just take everything and stuff it in the backpack. So at the moment he has pre-k, kindergarten, and 1st grade stuffed backpacks.
Arianna Rodriguez That is pretty cool. What are you going to do with all the backpacks when he graduates?
Tess with piggy tails *.*
This was so cute seeing the art work
When Elle starts to feel threatened by Laura and he make up and ffashion sense
What my mom does is keep it in a old backpack and then just throw it in the messy closet 😂😂
More Tess updates!!
Totally
I love taking pictures of my daughters artwork too. I have the memory not the clutter.
I forgot it was wednesday
Drawing was one of my main hobbies growing up, and while I'm sure many drawings ended up in the trash, I remember mostly organising them myself rather than letting my parents do it.
#EARLYSQUAD
Gulistan Cevik yaass
That is a smart idea! Right in time for my daughter to start kindergarden.
Who is not a mom but is here
It helped me so much ..worth watching this video :)
Great ideas 😊 I keep the best art work that fits in full sheet photo albums
I'm a kid but I love watching your videos they are so cool and they inspired me
I actually ask the kids to pick out the ones that they want to keep at the end of school year. 😊
I can now use this for my niece! THanks! and love your style.
I am 9 and I love what’s up moms
I've literally amointain fo drawings by my son onthe floor that over emptied likeyoirself from 2 drawers and ashelf .he's a voracious drawer of cartoons of batman and loves creating desinds of instructions aproper little designer already.and these are all the the ones icouldnt toss!
My mom created kind of a book for me and my brother each about our school year and every time I’m looking at it i want to cry ( it’s was from pre-school until grade 5).
I'm not a mom but sure love watching these !
This works for us too! I had 3-4 years of school work for two of my kids so I had them each group them by age/grade, label their folders and put them in. Made organizing so much simpler and less overwhelming for me.
Ray Fam Smart...delegating...did they do a good job?
Yes, they did! And not only that, they were proud of doing it too. Win-win.
A whatsupmoms add pops up and I'm watching a whatsupmoms vid
Thanks for the tips.
❤❤
0:58 the first Castel is really good
my mom just doesn’t care. She throws everything away, without looking at it first. 😞 I wish my mom was like you
Awesome advice! I had a pile of artwork and didn't know what to do with it. You gave me the solution to the problem. Thanks!
I'm deeply moved by this material. The book I explored on these subjects marked a turning point in my life. "A Life Unplugged: Reclaiming Reality in a Digital Age" by Theodore Blaze
I love What’s up moms I am your number one fan
I have tried to get the artwork organiser printable three times but I haven't gotten the email containing it. I already checked spam, nothing there either.
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:00 Temporary *storage such as a drawer for kids' artwork is recommended to be easily accessible for quick storing, which you can use until sorting it at the end of the year.*
00:26 To *make storing easier, dating the back is a good practice as it helps with later decision-making.*
00:39 An *end of the year evaluation of the collected artwork helps to choose the best pieces for longer term storage.*
01:20 The *goal is to hold onto a few special pieces rather than keeping everything, to avoid clutter.*
01:34 A *single annual evaluation is efficient as it takes less than 30 minutes to select around 25 pieces for permanent storage.*
01:49 Permanent *storage of the artwork should be in waterproof folders or bins. You can also include photographs and notes indicating important memories.*
02:16 Some *artwork can be given to grandparents or other family members, whilst others can be framed for display.*
02:29 Large *artwork pieces that don't fit can be photographed for archival purposes. This process should be done when kids are not at home to avoid distractions and guilt-inducing attempts to keep all pieces.*

Thank you for sharing this video... I am really having some challenges when it comes to organizing and what to do with all my kids arts and crafts. I take pictures and recycle them once they're not around, but I guess I'll be framing some of them and hang them in their play area... Thanks for this ideas...
