Thank you. i just did a video on updating both the HS-02A and B to the new 1.7 firmware. the only menu change is the addition of Roll Set in the system set menu that allows you to turn the rolling number of on the display, so that it will count up or down but not flipping/rolling the numbers. i'm having trouble with the memory card so i'm not sure if i can get the video up. i'm sending a message to Finersi to se if there are any functionality changes to teh firmware other than the roll set setting. i'll post a update when i get a reply. Thanks again for the heads up on the firmware.
Mine doesn't update. I put it in bootloader mode and drop the file. Nothing happens. It times out and still has 1.6 installed. Same behavior on both the A and B model i have.
I believe your problem is the os. I had a viewer had issues like your and when he used a windows 10 computer it updated properly. Do you have access to a newer os computer? I have also seen this happen on non windows computers.
@TTMEable I don't actually do anything with it. I hold it in my hand, wait for it to heat up, and suddenly it turns off and on again. Could it be that the voltage is not properly selected?
It sound like the over current issue. We have found when the iron is set to 20v and 100% power the iron will power cycle. This is due to a momentary current spike above most all psu ratings causing them to shut down and back on. So its the power supply unit shutting down but caused by the iron. The work around is to set power to about 60% then let iron heat up then increase to 100%. I have a message into fnirsi but haven’t heard back from them yet. This was found by one of my viewers and so far the work around it fixing the issue. I have found using a goid psu or a laptop psu the iron heats and works just fine when set to 65% power. this is where my irons are set. Please advise if this helps or not. Thanks
Hey! Sorry for my late reply 😅 It's been a while since Then I made a request but I never thought you take it seriously but hey here we are 😊 I've been busy these past weeks while waiting for my hs-02 to arrived till now. My firmware ver. Is 1.6. I ordered the cheapest set and just bought the charger, cable, and some tips for much cheaper price online. So I save a lot. Anyway everything was fine except for the sleep mode which doesn't put the iron to sleep. Is there something I miss? Btw THANKS A LOT 😊More power to your channel 🙏
Thank you 😊 the channel is to help others and i feel good knowing you where helped. As for sleep. Go into the setting, sleep set then make sure the sleep time is less than the stand by time The way it is supposed to work: lets say you have sleep set to 5 minutes and stand by set to 10 minutes and sleep temp set to 100c Start iron and let it heat up then set it down flat “keep lid on if you need too” be sure there are no vibrations and in 5 minutes iron should cool down to the sleep temp preset, then 5 minutes later it will go into standby and cool all the way down. If standby is set lower than sleep it may just turn off and not go into sleep at all. Also i wouldn’t bother upgrading to v1.7 firmware as per FNIRSI the only change is allowing you to turn the display numbers flipping animation on or off. No real functionality. Hopefully they will release a bug fix in next version. One of my viewers found a bug that seems to affect the hs02a only but when power is set to 100% and 20v it will spike current draw and shut down. See the discussion on the hs02a vs hs02b video its explained better. We have a message into FNIRSI about it and hoping they will release a fix.
@@TTMEableHaha it's working now! I just put it in on the table next besides my fan so it creates vibrations to the iron itself 😅 Btw I just still updated to 1.7 😂 Once again Thanks a lot 🙏
@@TTMEableLuckily, I don't have that issue that you mentioned even I set it on 100% at 20v it doesn't put to shutdown. Everything was fine now 😊 It maybe they already fixed that issue on thier newer release 😕
You are exactly right. The process is the same for update to 1.7 and hopefully we will see v1.8 soon. We have discussions going on in the comments of this and the 02a/02b comparison video. We have found a flaw in the HS-02A that will cause the psu to trip out when iron is set to 100% power and 20v. Current draw exceeds all psu we have tested. One of my viewers discovered it. Does not seem to affect the HS02B. We have contacted FNIRSI and hope they will add a firmware update that will limit current draw during initial heat up then return to preset.
Yes. You have to reduce it to about 65-75% to heat up the hs02a at 20v then s as fter heatup you can increase it to 100% again. We are asking FNIRSI to make it automatic for people that need to run the iron at 100% it should be a easy firmware fix to say, automatically reduce any power setting above 70% to 65% for a few seconds then go back up to the users preset so they don’t have to remember to do it them selves. You really only need 100% power when soldering very large components or anything with a large ground plain. It would be a convenience for people running over 70% power and i think a great plus for the iron as well. I only see it in the larger 02a. The smaller tipped 02b does not seem to have the current spike. Thanks 😊
I just bought one. Upgraded from my heavily used TS80. Wish I could compare the TS101 vs this in real time use. Time will tell. 😊
I have the TS101 and intend to do a comparison with the HS02 A and B. What kind of tests would you like to see?
Hi, firmware 1.7 is out.
But didn’t find a change log.

I have seen this happen with older computers and non windows machines. What computer and os are you using?
@TTMEable It's a windows 7 system. The "bootloader" drive shows up, it just doesn't do anything when copying the file to it.

I tried to update mine to 1.7, all seems to be as expected but it stay on «Firmware updating !» forer…
Tried with a Windows10 and it was updated in only few seconds !
@@patrickmonnier2193 so its working now? If not i was going to say try it again with another computer.
@@TTMEable Yes it’s working now
great glad to hear it.
To drag once, then to drag again within few seconds and press Overwrite. It really works.
Do you know why does it turn itself off while using?
Can you give details on what you are doing when it turns off?
Could be related to the sleep and standby settings. What are they set at?

They may have updated the new models. You said you have the HS02A correct how long have you had your? Thanks you for your input.
1 month old video and version 1.6 is already outdated
