Please John I need these Vinland Saga reactions daily at the least. I love seeing your knowledge of England as a dumb American.

It wasn't thorfinn in the rope it was a random slave.

It only goes up from here the rest of the season too. Genuinely one of my favorite seasons of any show

Philosophy is what I love about shows as well and Vinland doesn’t disappoint. 1x18 is one to remember

that and 1x14, 1x22, 2x9 and some others in season 2 are truly beautiful philosophically

I think it's safe to say that Yukimura has a pretty specific idea of what an ideal Norse princess looks like. Canute, Thorfinn's mom Helga, and the slave girl from before all look nearly identical.
Edit: It's great that you thought the slave kid at the end was Thorfinn because that's exactly what Leif was thinking as well.

In episode 11, they were in Marlborough, MY HOMETOWN! Pretty sure it was mentioned at some point. It was so weird seeing that when I first watched it, since most people outside of Wiltshire (in the UK) don't tend to know Marlborough. It does have the widest high street in the country though!

Leif thought the slave on the rope looked like Thorfinn from behind, but turns out it was a random slave girl.

That wasnt thorfinn in the rope. Leif erickson is trying to find thorfinn and It’s was someone that looked like thorfinn that was a slave.

Loved the comment on appropriation vs appreciation ! When done right, other cultures interpretations of events provides a unique perspective on concepts already done

the priest is talking about the same love Rumi talks about. non duality. egolessness.

The first time I hear the priest's words of saying 'the one who made booze', I got really dissappointed with his character and I didn't understand the purpose. But as a Christian and after a couple pf rewatch, I just realized that he did choose Jesus, as he did turn water to wine. A very subtle detail but very deep meaning.

People will follow a leader out of nothing but fear. North Korea for example.

That's not really true sure some most definitely fear him but if you look into it a lot of North Koreans genuinely think he's the greatest person ever. Propaganda and brainwashing is what it is. To the rest of the world he's evil but to North Korea he's great.
